  1. Not pretty. Hope the pilots will be alright.
  2. I turned off as soon as I heard of government cover-ups... Cool video. Just out of curiosity, what is it supposed to prove? EDIT: Btw, that guy is amusing as hell! Just found this video, some of you guys probably know it but man, it's just hilarious... 33 doubled is 666, and 33 is pi, and that's the number computers are working on... :megalol::megalol::megalol:
  3. True, but remember not everybody has latest state-of-the-art GPU. Some people simply can't afford it, while some just want to play their sim without upgrading their system every half year. Sure, it's nice to make your software use all the benefits of the hardware yet to come, but don't forget the backward compatibility first. Of course, sims will be always demanding applications, but what I think we need most is to make DCS work well on hardware we have now, without buying one of NASA's supercomputers. However, if US government will run of money again, it's possible they will come cheap. :D Organic EDGE.

    DCS F-35?

Many truth in those words here. Unfortunately, me or you can't make other people act better. The only thing we can do is that every each of us will behave in a way that he / she doesn't need to be ashamed of himself / herself, and hope that others will join. If you have done your best to not be ashamed of yourself, then you can feel sorry that other people did not, but sadly, that's all you can do. EDIT: Conclusion: You can be rightfully saddened and enraged that other people who want to belong to the same community as you do don't act the way you'd like to, and you should be, but being ashamed if you didn't do anything wrong is something different.

    DCS F-35?

Like what? While I agree that overall manners of some people here could be a lot better, as soon as you start with business, politics, or anything else that involves public, you're bound to receive some negative reactions, often over-the-top and undeserved. That's the sad reality of our everyday lives. We don't have to go much far for examples, just look at some real-life aviation projects. Many of them were bashed by hateful agitators back then, yet now they're known as some of the best airplanes ever built. So the bottom line is, you don't need only the skills to finish the task, but also the nerves to face the haters and prove them wrong. If you don't, you lost. Sad but true. And please, be careful with claims like "we should all be ashamed" and the like. Who "We"? Me? You? The guy over there? People love to generalize, using claims like "Those Americans", "Those communists", "Those youths" etc., yet this generalization is a very dangerous habit. Yes, I had concerns about KI and their project, but as far as I am aware, I've never said anything that should be qualified as offensive, demeaning, abusive or anything else to be ashamed for. If somebody should be ashamed, then those who said the things, not "Us". As a member of this community, I'm only responsible for what I am saying, not for claims of other people I have no control over, who just happened to be members of the same community as I am.

    DCS F-35?

No need to go anywhere to read the posts, I was there as well and my point remains the same. There were mixed reactions back then as well as now. The only fact here is that you can blame particular individuals for changing their opinions as they see fit, but you can't blame numerous individuals for having numerous opinions.

    DCS F-35?

OK, so because few vocal individuals want A, while few others want B and disagree with A, it's good enough reason to call the entire community volatile, indecisive, stupid... ah well. Do you realize that from the beginning there were people who supported KI, people who hated KI, people who were unconvinced but didn't want KI to cancel their project, people who want nothing less than maximum-fidelity sim, and those who are more than happy with FC3 quality (or less)..? Sorry, but only frustrating thing here is your logic...

    DCS F-35?

^ I don't think that selling AI plane for money is a good idea, nor am I personally fond of SFM planes, but otherwise I'm fully with you on that small steps thing. All those secrecy concerns aside, modeling such an advanced aircraft into full DCS standard would be tremendous amount of work. Just imagine coding all the avionics! I'm no expert at all, but I think I will not be so wrong when I say that completing DCS: F-35 would be difficult goal even for an experienced developer, let alone someone with zero experience with DCS. They should definitely pick something less complex for the start IMO. And, KI's attitude towards all those problems came across as over-confident to some (including me), which didn't help the matters either. But all that was already discussed million times before.

Where's that facepalm emoticon when one needs it...?

    DCS F-35?

Exactly. Having F-35 in DCS would be a blast, but they've bitten bigger piece than they could swallow. At least that was how I felt about them since day one, and it seems I was right. Hopefully, they will try it next time with something more down to the ground.
  12. 26GB! How big you think my HDD is?!:ranting: Other than that, great news! I'm eager to see it completed!
  13. OK, if it is true (which we are yet to find out), I'm curious about few things. Logically, the map will still look the same - same old buildings, same old textures, same old pointy hills - until somebody decides to re-model it to Nevada standards (which I secretly hope for). But will it benefit from EDGE's technical advantages? Like SLI/CF support, DX11 features or the new clouds (which aren't technically part of the map). Using common sense, I think it should be the case, since these things are engine-based, not map-based. But these are of course only my wild assumptions. I don't expect an official reply from ED "until it's the right time", but I'd like to know anyway...
  14. Well, since trees made of smoke are one of the biggest DCS' flaws, I don't think we can just drop it... However, I'm not sure if this is the right place to discuss it. More than that, we're even VERY close. Now let's wait till we are VERY VERY VERY close, and then the F5 time will begin! :D
  15. He said VERY CLOSE! Yay! :yay:
  16. Now this is getting serious. Absolutely stunning, can't wait!:thumbup:
  17. Just WOW! Those nighttime shots look absolutely fantastic! Now only how my poor GPU is going to feel about it... Huge LOL at OMG BRAND... :D Now just tell me why your god didn't give us F-18 and Su-27SM yet, amongst many others. I guess the right answer is that he is testing our faith, right? ;) Oh, and is it out yet?...
  18. Actually, I do. I own safety certificate to work on electrical facilities. OK, it's expired now, since I'm no longer involved in that business, but you've got the idea. How come the (much bigger) helicopter right next to the poor bird is not making a circuit, if the seagull did? With what? Here you can see pictures of it, the first one clearly shows that the bird was stuck to the topmost line, far away from the other ones below. That's why he couldn't make any circuit, as well as the helicopter itself. If you take your time reading that article, you will find out the seagull lived indeed. In fact, just google it up, and you'll see there are tons of articles all saying the same. Case closed, move along. :detective_2:
  19. Well, no. If that seagull was really stuck to that cable with electric current coming through it, it would burn to ashes in no time -> no need to clean off anything. And, why was the rescue guy so careful to not damage the "dead" animal, eh? And finally, as guys above me already said, how come that the guy and his helicopter didn't burn as well? As long as you don't touch something grounded, or another wire on different phase, you can walk on the cable barefoot and nothing happens. In fact, most birds injured or killed in power line strikes suffer from wing fractures, not burns.
  20. I'm not someone you'd call a military expert, but really? How do you destroy something you don't see? Yes, when you send drones in there alone, they're pretty much dead. That's why they of course need support from other manned assets, just like regular aircraft do. But think about it for a second. Without drones, you need a manned plane to do the recon or blow up those super evil terrorists, AND another manned plane(s) to support it. It means more lives put to risk. Nobody says that drones alone can win the war, but every one drone in enemy airspace means one pilot home in safety. That's what drones are for.
  21. ^ Seemed pretty alive to me. Nonetheless, nice videos of helicopters helping animals!
  22. To be honest, nor do I. Really, too much Top Gun stuff there for me to believe. I guess someone made the story far more interesting than it actually was.
  23. It's so sad to see such great and beautiful machines in a condition that terrible.
  24. Hah, that was the first thing to come across my mind. Apparently Russian military has strict rules for this! :) I know exactly why. Because if you sit a six years old in the cockpit, what will he notice first? The attitude indicator? The radio channel selector? Those circuit breakers? Hell no, THE FAN! And since us flight simmers are all just grown-up kids, I think that's why... :prop::D
  25. The "K" key worked back in old good LOMAC, FC1 and even in FC2 I guess, but does not anymore in FC3. And besides that, it kinda didn't turned off the AOA limiter, but rather played a pre-scripted animation. I hope that the upcoming AFM for Su-27 will do any justice to it, 'cause I want to do my Cobra, and this time, a real AFM one! :joystick: Now when we have this one sorted out, can we discuss if there is some use of Cobra maneuver in actual combat? *runs*hides*:P
