  1. Detecting who commited the fraticide seems to be somewhat problematic. In SP it is said that the player is always at fault. If you fly online you will notice that some servers use a punishment system to automatically kick teamkillers. I have seen enough cases where the victim got kicked and not the offender. I know that this system is a mod and has not been made by ED but obviously the problem isnt an easy one.
  2. It seems that there are a few people around here that like to downrep posts that are a bit offtopic. Example: Look at the Mig21bis thread. Ive been talking with some guys about software development. Somebody who didnt participate in the conversation downrepped me for one of the posts because it is offtopic. I have asked the guy weather he also downrepped the other guys. No answer so far.
  3. I have read the manual many times. Well, everything except the CDU pages :D. When I read the manual part of the CDU i find it very easy and intuitive. When i sit in the plane afterwards i have forgot everything because i didnt learn everything by heart. I know all the other systems. Actually, im feeling a kind of "home" in the cockpit because im familiar with every switch.
  4. I already thought something like that. So i have to set the SPI upwind according to the HOF. Still cant believe that. I mean the bomb knows everything! The current wind can be calculated while the bomb is in flight or even be digitally sent to the bomb prior to release. The bomb knows the HOF it is gonna use and the bomb knows the current radar altitude. Why the hell isnt this $360,000 thing calculating the wind if it is even called "Wind Corrected Ammunitions Dispenser" and "precision-guided weapon" ?
  5. How low do you release the Mk82s when dive bombing? And this upwind setting of the SPI...I thought that would be the sense of my IFFCC to calculate the wind in CCRP bombings. Addtionally, im using the CBU-105 which handles like a JDAM and should automatically correct the wind. Why would it else be called "Wind Corrected Ammunitions Dispenser"? However, this doesnt seem to work as advertised. Now i have to know in what direction the wind blows to set the SPI somewhat upwind. I think i get that information somewhere in the CDU?
  6. Thanks for your answer. Ive tested this statement in realistic mode. I dont see any difference between using the communication menu or the ptt button except the headline of the menu. If you press communication menu the headline is "Main" and if you use the ptt button the headline states the currently selected radio. Apart from that i dont see any difference. Im able to call the ground crew with the door open and wrong radio selections with both keys. Im not able to call the ground crew with the door closed unless the intercom is selected. This works for both keys. ATC works as expected with both keys. As long as the radio is tuned correctly and VHF2 is selected im able to contact ATC. Again, this works for both keys. As conclusion: Both keys do the same in realistic mode without the JTAC mod installed. Maybe in easy mode the PTT uses the radios as in realistic mode and the communication menu utilizes the easy communication simplifications? Finally, it seems that both keys are different at some level internally as the JTAC mod requires the usage of the PTT button. However, i havent tested the JTAC mod at all so this is just repeated from other posts.
  7. Didnt know this one!
  8. Didnt this change anything else? I would like to know why there is even a key binding for COMMUNICATION MENU if you can reach the same with SPU-9 PTT. Does anybody know this?
  9. It is "HUD mode switch NORM/STBY" in category Armanent HUD Control Panel.
  10. Thanks. Ill try that.
  11. The switch just over the IFFCC switch (HUD Mode NORM and STBY) is set to STBY. The image seen on the HUD is normal in standby mode. Just flip it back to NORM and the hud will work again.
  12. Hi everybody! I always miss with Mk82's. I have stopped taking them into combat since i dont manage to hit anything with them. Do you know any trick or technique to make using them more precise? I also miss with CBUs. I usually pick the CBU-105 to get the Wind Corrected Dispenser. However, the CBU submunitions always drift off the target quite far. So i dont really hit the way it is intended with CBU. If somebody out there is able to get some precision with CBUs or Mk82s would like to see you post a track, video, tutorial or something like that to show how its done correctly. I want to get somewhat useful with these weapons
  13. Random failures. Didnt think of that. If you manage to replicate your situation, could you post the track please? I dont think that you are able to use CCIP or CCRP modes in a useful manner without your hud. However, can find your current Master Mode on the DSMS page.
  14. Without your hud you can use your HSI to navigate. What do you mean by that? Was the HUD all orange? In this case your HUD is set to night mode. The switch to change that is above the switch for the IFFCC. Did your hud only show a kind of menu where you can change some settings? In this case your IFFCC switch is set to TEST instead of ON. You wrote you had a litte circle top right. Seems odd. Right after takeoff so no combat damage here right? But you are right! It can be fun to fly without the HUD. I know some people who do IFR flights in bad weather with no HUD or EGI. They only use TACAN to navigate and land using ILS. These missions arent combat missions.
  15. I never had any problems with that. But im kinda sure thats because most missions dont have any wind and turbulence. I trained refueling with a selfbuild mission and the weather is perfect there. In MP i have refueled in almost every mission that i have flown that has a tanker installed. Missions like Dragons Rookie Terrorists or GudautaRush. I didnt try Thunderstruck since the Tanker never managed to take off before somebody dropped a CBU-105 on our airfield . Anyway, thanks for the rep!
  16. There are some upgrades that are not modeled yet. They tested something like the HMS of the black shark in the Warthog: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Republic_A-10_Thunderbolt_II#Upgrades I would like to have them modeled! On the other side, the A10 is not going to be replaced soon so it may encounter another series of interesting upgrades. So maybe ED should focus on other things and make A-10C2 if there is a larger number of upgrades that would make A-10C2 interesting.
  17. I think it should be possible. I mean, why not? In flight you are going to carry 2 and even one GBU-12 on a TER. I cant find the option in the rearming menu or the mission editor menu. I would like to have them added. They are there for Mavericks. Why not for GBU-12s? Or for the iron bombs?
  18. Thats normal. If you go into point mode the box will appear which idicates that you are in point track mode. The tgp tries to lock onto the point it is aiming. In most cases this results in the same behaviour as area mode. However, if the tgp detects something that moves, it will snap onto that if you are tracking something in vincity. This happens because you are most likely not tracking the exact center of the vehicle. So this snapping thing is intended as help for the pilot. If you have two detected targets close to each other the tgp cant decide which target it should snap on. So it keeps snapping around. zoom in or out or enter area mode to stop it from doing that
  19. As far as i know the main limitation of generating tasks is that its impossible to add a unit. All you can do is activate a hidden unit. This means all possible units have to be added in the mission editor. You cant just spawn new units while the mission is running. Or is the scripting engine capable of this?
  20. You should be imppressed by that. Performance isnt only archieved by clock speed. If you have more shader units the card will be faster without any clock speed increase. And high clocks mean high power consumpion and heat dissipation. Thats why 680 runs at this clock speed and delivers much better performance at the same time.
  21. Just forgot the damned timezones.
  22. Yea youre right. I didnt notice that.
  23. Having the same problem? Its described here: http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=2947
  24. Im using FreeTrack with a selfbuild 3-point-cap with white leds and a unmodified Logitech C510. I have to delete some file of the driver to prevent FreeTrack from crashing on clicking the start button. Once set up correctly, the tracking is actually quite good. i have a rather big area of movement and the precision is good. For input lag: I recently noticed that it makes a huge difference if you run freetrack on a slow pc or a fast one. My dad's laptop (i5 2450M and nvidia gt 640m) manages to to run dcs on lowest settings with a whole second input lag in freetrack. My primary pc (i5 3570k and nvidia gtx 670) runs dcs world on highest settings, 1080p and 45fps in mp. The input lag is barely noticeable, i guess something between 100ms and 20 ms. I used the same camera and freetrack settings on both pcs. The camera framerate is 30fps on both pcs.
  25. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR DAUGHTER! :holiday:
