  1. Server was buddyspike blueflag persiangulf. Ive replicated the problem 3 or 4 times now.
  2. Just tried the tuition startup, worked fine. Tried again without the test but doing pretty much everything else (including turning the Hydraulics off) in multiplayer and again it wont start. I forget which multiplayer server I was trying on, but it was a Persian gulf one if anyone wants to give it a try. Though im pretty sure ive had some starting problems on the caucasus server as well. Thats an interesting point about throttles, I will try that. I would suggest though that if its a recurring problem, it probably ought to be flagged as a bug anyway.
  3. Yeah, I just tried the left hand one, I get the electric, I get the air, I turn on oxygen, I select startup from Jester, he pulls down the canopy, I get the ok to crank, I wait till I get to 20 percent, click the throttle, and nothing. This is in multiplayer, can anyone else confirm this is happening to them? Its an abbreviated checklist, but I believe im hitting all the essentials.
  4. Oh dear, am I letting the Hornet influence me? Thanks for that.
  5. Im not entirely sure if this is a problem or not, but its causing me great annoyance. Im going through the abbreviated checklist, ive got air, ive got electric, and im trying to start up the right engine first. I wait till about 20 percent, and it wont turn over. The left starts just fine. This is on multiplayer. Even worse, I seem to have the same problem reoccur immediately after coming out of the particular role in the multiplayer group and going back in. Can anyone reproduce this, or is my own sticky finger at fault?
  6. And practice Karaoke. A lot.
  7. A Tempest and a TA152 would be a good choice, seeing as there are still arguments about how good either of them was. Hawker Hurricane, preferably either a IIC so we can do night intruder operations with it. http://www.rogerdarlington.me.uk/Hurricane.html But Ill happily take any variant, particularly the ones as used by the Soviet Naval Aviation. Bristol Beaufighter. Because it showed equal success in the Western and Pacific theatres. And who doesnt want to drop Torpedo's? Hawker Sea Fury. It was issued on the last day of the war, so it just fits. German? Well call me strange, but Id like some of the German nightfighters, such as the Me110, He219 or the Ju88. With a well modelled radar system, possible chaffing by RAF heavy bombers, it could be a really interesting subject.
  8. I can see why this is something of a thorny issue. The easiest solution would be to spec them as delivered, but that would still mean turning off the TCS. If you model them any later than that, you then get into the issue with everyone wanting the Hawk missile that was used from them for a while. Or if a contemporary version, you then have to develop the Farouk missile, which is a SARH version of the old Phoenix missile. https://theaviationist.com/2013/09/26/farouk-missile/ Judging by how many people keep calling for an F14D, its probably a case of the more you do, the more people want.
  9. From what ED say about future carrier developments, is envisaged to have an aircraft carrier that is possible to walk around, including working elevators. Maybe some of that will give us a context to do some exploring and looking over details like this on some of the aircraft that are parked up. When I was playing the original Gunship game from microprose, they gave you the ability to do an inspection of the aircraft when you shut down to check on combat damage to the aircraft (In 2d naturally). It would be nice to be able to do that in DCS and rib the crew chief the walkman wasnt working again. :)
  10. At the trivial end of the market, I hope someone figures out how to paint white Phoenix's, which were more common for the early ones than the overall grey we now have. Just looks wrong on an early Tomcat.
  11. Thanks, definately going to try this one. :)
  12. Is that right? I didnt think the DCS blast modelling would be that accurate.
  13. Thats correct. The Iranian pilot that did it was in this lecture. He said he thought he was shooting at one aircraft. It was only when they found bits of 2 others as well, he realized how awesome he was. :D Its quite interesting the part where he claims to have shot down a Mig 29 with a Hawk missile I guess it would be impossible to model a blast radius like that in DCS? Which kind of takes some of the fun away from the Phoenix in ACM mode.:D
  14. Yeah, Archer is brilliant. Its a shame they didnt do a season based on Top Gun, it had so much potential. :D
  15. Oh, this is a good one too, particularly the Cartoon. :D
  16. Just in case this has not been posted before, there is a series of videos posted on youtube showing progress reports of the Tomcat as it entered service. Hope its of interest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkNkQ3j9ZkU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMyg5YCoIOY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qU8-8pE5Q0
  17. Did someone say.... Danger zone? :D
  18. Does anyone have thoughts on the trim? The good news is it makes it a lot easier to get dialled in. The problem im finding is that it takes a LONG TIME to get dialled in, or seems to me, compared to what it was before. It proved something of an issue in in flight refueling, or maybe its just a reflection im out of practice. :D
  19. Sorry fella, I missed your post as well. :D Yeah I take your point. Well personally I love the spitfire, and I really miss the fact there is absolutely no place to use it in multiplayer at the moment. Personally Ill take whatever you can give. I would suspect the Spitfire and Fw190A8 would be a popular matchup. The Dora9 and the K4 are a bit overmatch for the spitfire really. Its a really great server, and my thanks to you for it. I flatter myself its made me a better F14 pilot, so thanks for that. :)
  20. Awesome, thanks so much for that.
  21. Agreed, the Shapeways mod is indeed very good. You can find the settings for the tomcat on here IIRC. Going off topic, has anyone managed to make good curve settings for the Mig21?
  22. The Navy has some strange atitudes to historical artifacts. They have actively tried to block people recovering aircraft from lake michigan, because they regard themselves as still owners of it, despite striking it off the books decades ago. Very strange. I would hope there are at least some of these Tomcats still maintained in as service condition. That includes one of the aircraft that scored a kill, still apparently at Davis Monthan. It would be unfortunate if the best preserved Tomcats for future generations will be found only in Iran.
  23. Thanks, but I was more refering to how the USN ripped all the instruments and even panels out of this one. That must surely complicate things for heatblur in mapping a cockpit, unless they found one that was untouched?
  24. Yeah, thats pretty much my stance on it. In fact, if you dont alter the axis of the joystick, you can figure out what kind of aoa you are going to have from stick deflection at a certain speed. I practiced going around in a 15AOA turn at about 350 knots, just so I could know what kind of stick deflection it was. Probably more difficult in a modified stick where the base is on the floor I imagine, but real pilots develop muscle memory too. I always thought the vibration was too severe. I couldn't imagine why it would be shaking THAT much if the airframe was working as advertised. I would imagine its only substantial drag and disturbed airflow that would cause it.
