Maybe it's just an easy shape for the symbol generator?
-
LERX (LEX/Strakes) stands for Leading Edge Root Extension. These are aerodynamic devices used to increase lift in high angle of attack maneuvers by creating high speed vortices above the wing (which strikemax is attempting to model on the SU-27). The F-15C does not feature these.

The DVD was my first experience with HDDVD, very sharp indeed. I wish I had been able to see it in the IMAX theatre though. The aerial photography is beautiful.

Amazing stuff, great job with this release. I just finished finals too, couldn't have come at a better tim, thanks!

Yeah, that's gonna look nice with my name painted on the side :P. I might actually use something other than D-Scythe's Bird of Prey pack for a while ;). Competition is good, I hope Mitch gets in on the action soon too. http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/7623/screenshot227sb6.jpg I'm in love with this skin, it has left me pining for an AFM F/A-18 again.

Avionics on or off during engine start?
AJ.eightFive replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Avionics Master off. The transient voltages generated during the start-up can damage the sensitive electronics if left on. -
Since I always use the 18th Wing (67th FS, 44th FS) skin I have adjusted the hue/saturation/brightness of the original skin to better match D-Scythe's skin. I can send you the files if you'd like, just PM me with your e-mail or something.

Simply changing the texture will not suffice. The material type is contatined in the .lom and switching this out throws off the positioning.
-
I'm having the same problem as Matze, the new tanks with specularity are positioned too far aft again. Looking forward to a fix as the tanks look real sweet now with the new textures and specularity enabled. Thanks for the hard work everyone!

Why didn't ED do these add ons first!!!

In response to 1: Lock On: MODERN Air Combat :P -
I really hope D-Scythe reworks his birds of prey pack. Those are by far my favourite skins. ;) ;)

Virtual Thunderbirds: NEW MOVIE & prize GIVEAWAY
AJ.eightFive replied to LawnDart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hope to watch it soon. Server's taking a beating right now and I can't connect. -
Yep, I'll second that. You are making this a very painless process walmis, thank you. The improvements are appreciated! Here's my list of most desired improvements for future revisions, all probably things you are already addressing: - Gear retract speed (haven't actually re-tested since latest update was released) - Wing "twist", a.k.a washout - Cannon aperture shape more closely to the real thing - Fuselage armament alignment (perhaps an impossibility) - GPS antennae - Pilot visor down (perhaps in conjunction with canopy closing anim?) - Intake upper leading edge geometry added for depth - Refueling port texture P.S. I'm officially addicted to this thread, I must check it twenty times a day looking for updates, I'm considering making it my homepage :P.

Hey walmis, congratulations on having the most popular thread on the board!

Bass shakers baby :D.

Regardng the gear retraction speed: Here's a good video showing the gear coming up (about 1 minute 20 seconds in, after the "wing walk"). It might be a nice touch if the door close asymetrically in your animation also! Here's the vid: http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Guest/545/large/

Hey Zorlac, Are you still planning on releasing a version of the TEWS that is simply an exact copy of the one in the pit, without any extra overlays and such?
-
They'll be back. Last I heard zorlac was making good progress on 1.3 and the active TEWS!

My canopies glow also, and I am running a GeForce 6800 series. I think it has more to do with the glass material used, the old F-15C canopy did not glow, neither does the F-16. Unfortunately those also lack the specularity which makes the other material look so nice. Walmis, regarding the misaligned AIM-7, what about rotating the actual 3D model in your weapons pack a couple of degrees. If it were only 2 or 3 degrees I don't think anyone would notice it being out of alignment with it's flight path when it comes off the rail, or make any difference to missile evasion (most people's aspect judgement is limited to +/-30' anyway). You might notice if you were watching it in F6 view but I don't think that's too big a deal.
-
Hmm, I see, so right now they are angled in slightly which is why they don't appear aligned correctly? There must be some way to correct this, after all the original F-15C did not exhibit this problem, with the old or new weapons as far as I remember. Either way, I will still use your model, it's a thing of beauty!
-
Shouldn't the AIM-7's be perfectly in line with each other? As in this image: http://img100.photo.163.com/he3hai/11280457/249366834.jpg

Found a few nice line drawings. Hope these help with development if you didn't have them already. http://img100.photo.163.com/he3hai/11280457/249364552.jpg http://img100.photo.163.com/he3hai/11280457/249366834.jpg http://img100.photo.163.com/he3hai/11280457/249366187.jpg http://img100.photo.163.com/he3hai/11280457/249364740.jpg As well as this: http://photo.163.com/photos/he3hai/15887476/#p6 And: http://img195.photo.163.com/he3hai/23909148/605724781.jpg Edit: Also, does anyone else see the fuselage stations out of place or is this something wrong with my install?

Flew around with the new model tonight. Very nice improvements. Noticed the tail numbers are back now, thanks for that! Since you seem to be very knowledgeable about these sort of things now, do you know if it is possible to change the tail number colour? I'm not suggesting you do so for your mod, I'd just like to know for my personal use.

Grab the updated fuel tank model released by Tatti, it complements Walmis' F-15C perfectly. I also suggest you download Walmis' weapons pack. You can find these in the 3d models section of the forum. P.S. Thanks for the update Walmis!
