Do you get radio menu after pressing "\"? If no, what keyboard are you using? Some non-US keyboards have very specific layouts, so some key responses can be messed up (you press "\", but game may detect it as different key).

womble, Are you sure that if everything were in English, you would understand everything? There are a lot of abbreviations and special terminology in this simulation and person without good preparation won't understand them. If word belongs to native language of person, it doesn't mean, that he will understand it. You can look for examples in this forum how native English speakers don't understand manual in English and require guidance from others. This is normal when people try to learn new things. The other thing is we don't know your preference. Are you sim fan or game fan? If you are sim fan, then I can say that you are probably making a mistake; however if you want only quick, light game, then you are right. Community, don't behave like elite! Bashing people for not liking things you are obsessed with is wrong. :pilotfly:

No.

Right Control key + Right Shift key + arrow keys from Numpad. These combinations of keys will move your virtual head and let you to see what cyclic is obscuring.
-
You can move the head in 6 degrees of freedom. Use TrackIR or hold mouse wheel pressed to do that. There are keyboard shortcuts too.

Press СБРОС (Backspace) to cage Shkval before sending target. If you fail to do so, you will simple change (reassign) the type of already saved target.

Is interface in Russian? Or you have launched deployment campaign and found that friendlies speak in Russian? It is supposed to speak so, they are russians.

Launcher.exe error with different graphics cards
ZaltysZ replied to Supersonic's topic in Bugs and Problems
Try cleaning and reinstalling video drivers. -
Buk launchers are TELAR (transport erector launcher and radar). Those things can be pretty autonomous even without separate target acquisition radar; in other words: Buk launchers are emitters too.

No Radar warning, no radar guidance, no radar SAMs?
ZaltysZ replied to oho's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Ka-50-2 is here: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/images/ka-50-2_erdogan_pic1.jpg Mi-28 is here: http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/3/5/1/1290153.jpg The bottom photo in that page certainly is not Kamov. -
Program version DCS: Black Shark v1.0 (Russian DVD) Bug description Hot spots of fuel cutoff levers are in incorrect positions if cheat is used to shutdown systems while these levers are in down position. Steps to reproduce Launch default cold start training track; Interrupt it immediately and Take control; Press LWIN+End (cheat for automated shutdown); Wait until it (cheat) completes Notice that the fuel cutoff levers are in up position (incorrect for helicopter in shutdown state); Notice that movement of fuel cutoff levers to down position is impossible with mouse by clicking on them; Move mouse cursor a little lower (imagine that fuel cutoff levers are in down position); Observe that mouse cursor changes to green, although it isn't on the lever, and it is possible to move the lever by clicking with mouse on that empty space. This is double bug. The one is that levers are in up position and the other is that hot spots for mouse clicks don't move together with levers.

Why in page about Ka-50 there is photo (at the bottom) of Mi-28 in assembly stage? -

It is because ED have told that they have modeled Ka-50 using helicopter from batch of Ka-50, which don't have RWR, as reference. They haven't done this by using books and journals, but by working with Kamov. Isn't that enough? Don't question why DCS Ka-50 does not have RWR, because it is answered already. However, why that batch don't have RWRs is still an open question. It might be doctrine thing, maybe fund saving or something else. Read whole thread (and one more with almost similiar topic) for some reasoning. It would be good idea to ask someone in Russian military (like attack helicopter pilot, who flies without RWR) for formal reasoning. -

Regarding creditability, no one site on internet is creditable enough to determine if something about military is true. Some things are classified and some are simply not published on purpose. Even manufacturer's published data should not be taken too seriously, because it is interested in selling its products and represents the data in such way that it might help in advertising. I am not directing this to any particular manufacturer, but in general all of them do this to some extent. Books and journals are not creditable enough too. The problem is cold war traditions, there were such thing as weapon race, when everyone was trying to show that they can make better (and more) weapons than their adversaries. Most books and journals from that era describe military equipment only from good side and lack critics. Of course this depends on who is the author (does he sympathize or not to country the described equipment originated from). Generally, such books tell how something was developed and constantly improved, also full package of optional addons are mentioned in such way that it looks like these addons are base features. This might have not been a fault of author, but the fault of his sources (they might have been giving disinformation, hiding some information and etc., because they were interested in subjectivity of book). Remember, the aim of weapon race is not to MAKE, but to SHOW, how much power you have. You may say that cold war is over, but wait and watch some documentaries on Discovery channel and on some Russian channel and you will that nothing has changed: everyone shows their designs as superior. -
No Radar warning, no radar guidance, no radar SAMs?

hoorah, Doppler effect was explained to you wrongly. Horn sounds low (in sense of loudness) when train is far and sounds louder when train moves closer because of sound (wave) attenuation and not because of Doppler effect, which is about frequency. When train is far away its horn will have higher pitch (higher frequency) than stationary horn, as it closes the horn will sound lower (in sense of pitch) and will continue to sound lower and lower as train moves away from observer. This is Doppler effect - change in frequency depending on relative movement. Example with trains isn't natural, because of relatively low speed it is hard to notice the changes in pitch. I think jet flyby is better example. As jet approaches it whistles (high pitch) and after flyby when it extends away sound becomes lower (in pitch). If you have ever experienced it (airshow?), then you will understand easily. Doppler radar works by comparing emitted and echoed microwave frequencies. If there is no relative speed between emitter and reflector, there will be no Doppler effect. In case of moving aircraft, whole ground will have relative speed to it (ground speed). Simplified approach for solving ground clutter problem in look down scenario is to filter out anything that is moving towards aircraft at ground speed. It may look that stationary (hovering) helicopter will be filtered out too, however don't forget that helicopter isn't Harrier and has fast moving rotors, which will cause Doppler effect by themselves alone, because blades have relative speed to ground and to approaching aircraft (with radar) too. -
Well, you are supposed to follow that guy in Mi-24. The key thing is "to follow". You won't complete it just by flying the route with AP on and reading newspaper or doing something else while last waypoint isn't reached.

In fact, there is only 2 S-8 rocket types (available to us): KOM and TsM. B8 is launcher type and we have 2 models of it. Rockets: KOM - shaped charge + fragmentation; usable against infantry (supposed to be) and light armor. TsM - smoke rockets; usable for marking targets and locations. The difference in launchers is minor for helicopter. If I am not mistaken, B-8M1 is more streamlined and suitable for supersonic aircrafts.

I have had a fortune and killed T72 with 30mm AP today. 900m, 60 degrees, turret and engine compartment as aim point. It took about 100 rounds.

Game engine is supposed to be updated in the future, but not very soon.
-
If you experience this in forward flight, then everything is ok - use trim. You need to trim every time you change speed.

Yes, it is possible. I have set pinky switch as modifier for my X52. You need to go to controls screen and press Modifiers button at lower left corner of window, then add desired modifier keys and buttons. After that don't forget to choose appropriate modifier when assigning control like Shkval cage and etc.

Hosting with black shark i think i found a bug
ZaltysZ replied to graywo1fg's topic in Bugs and Problems
You should try to remove the router or at least put sniffer between internet and router. Don't trust DMZ implementation of router. To designate this wrong behavior as software bug, routers should be ruled out at first. -

SixMarbles, do you use router? If yes, where have you captured the traffic: behind the router or in front of it? -
Will your computer be updated to super computer level? :D That infantry has faces, even when you are not going to see them. It is not first person shooter, in DCS you are going to fly and not to run around, so although most models are very detailed, often they will look just to you just like bunch of pixels (it is property of all flight sims).
