  1. I have 4GB of RAM and have set swap file to 0 (disabled it). DCS can eat only up to 2GB, so another 2GB is left for OS and other programs. Those 2GB is more than enough for OS and background programs (IM, TrackIR and etc.). Of course, if I had bad habit to leave image processing program minimized with a lots of pictures opened in it, while I was playing games, then it would be good idea to leave swap enabled. Windows likes to use swap no matter how much RAM you have. It is performance wise decision to disable it, if you have enough RAM.
  2. What will be included in this manual? If it is just printed original pdf version of manual, then I won't buy it. If it contains emergency procedures, flight envelope charts, engine charts and etc., than I may consider buying it, but 50$ is kinda too much, unless it has many pages with good information.
  3. Have you checked "full screen" switch in game? Running game in windowed mode results in 30 fps limit.
  4. Which campaign does not work?
  5. When I tried, I noticed 10 fps jump using affinity trick with Athlon64 X2 6000+.
  6. Maybe they are not going to rise resolution of terrain any time soon, however they may have plans to increase area of map. Remember that in DCS we got more detailed, but smaller map (Crimea was erased).
  7. It is possible now. All tracks of MP games are recorded automatically into Temp folder. Rename the tracks (*.trk) to *.miz and you will have missions files.
  8. At the beginning of mission Mi-24 pilot says what distance you must keep from him during flight. Maybe you fly too far from him.
  9. Yes. The stabilization system is turned off when trim button is held pressed, however dampening still works. Stabilization kicks back in when you release trim button.
  10. The simple answer: trim while heading, pitch and bank channels are on. Don't think that trim button is only for "locking" positions of controls. It is also used for controlling AP. You should almost always make corrections only when trim button is pressed (and is held pressed) and release it only when you are happy with attitude of your helicopter in pitch, bank and heading. This means that if you are hovering and want to change the direction you are facing to, you should press and hold trim button, apply rudder to change direction, stabilize the helicopter with opposite rudder when new desired direction is reached and then (only then) release trim button, so that AP would get right (the one you want) direction, which should be kept by AP. If you are hovering with heading channel turned off and you helicopter seems to be turning wildly, you may be over controlling it. This can be very likely when helicopter is controlled without stabilization and dampening due to its high inertia. Also keep in mind that with heading channel turned off, you probably won't be hovering nicely with centered rudder (you will have to hold/trim it a little bit to right or left).
  11. Did he adjust waypoints/actions of other map objects too? If not, then there might be some problems. For example, I remember one night raid mission in which immediate take off and speed of over 250km/h are needed to reach target area in time just before SABs are dropped. I think it would be very hard to fit in time frame if cold start was introduced in that mission without postponing SABs for at least 5-10 minutes.
  12. Any technical bug fixes?
  13. Combat damage Power outage resulted by low RPM of rotors; Abrupt maneuvers Too much positive/negative Gs AP oscillations (I don't know if it is really modeled).
  14. This may help. Connect your phone, then right click on "My Network Places" and choose "Properties", select "Advanced>Advanced Settings" (via menu) and make sure that your connection to the internet is at the top of the list. Probably, interface associated with smartphone is at the top, move it lower. These directions are for XP; if you have Vista, the path to the same settings may be a little different.
  15. Seems like HyperLobby got confused. Do FC and BS work correctly if launched from Start menu (or manualy by clicking on exe)?
  16. That's right, and low frame rates in DCS are related more to CPU than GPU. You have not mentioned your OS and CPU. If you have Vista and multi core CPU, you can try affinity trick to increase FPS. Search the forum ("affinity" is good keyword).
  17. You need to reach desired speed yourself, trim for that speed and only then engage ROUTE mode.
  18. Kinda long shot, but worth a try. Go to Control Panel >> Network Connections > Local Area Connection (or whatever your internet connection is called) >> Properties >> Configure >> Advanced and switch off (disable) every setting which has something like "Offload" in its name. Most modern network cards have ability to offload some work (like packet checksum calculation) from CPU. When they do so, some stages are done at hardware level by bypassing TCP/IP stack. If driver or hardware has some bugs, weird things (like data corruption) begin, and unfortunately TCP/IP stack does not detect them as it is bypassed in some stages. So, try turning off "Offloading" if you are experiencing data corruption.
  19. Edit "..\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\ARK\ark.lua" You can slave R-800L1 radio receiver for direction search. Look at English manual 2-98, Switch #4. When ARK switch is on, ARK needle shows direction to transmitter to which R-800L1 is tuned to. So, you can enter any frequency of beacon on the fly without editing any files, just remember, that you will loose comms with tower, wingmen (if they don't change frequency) until you tune back to right frequency for comms.
  20. It think whole tank was dummy. Look here: , there you can see more believable explosions and damage.
  21. Isn't that T-72Б (Б - бумажный - paper)? :D
  22. 64-bits let to use more address space (more memory for process) and larger CPU registers. The last one can dramatically increase the performance as calculations against values in registers are the fastest, however this is very hard to do in complex program, which is written in high level programming language, because compiler (not programmer) applies generic optimizations by itself and that "generic" are always suboptimal.
  23. Have you tried to verify MD5 checksums?
  24. It is pretty easy to lock air target with HMS: Uncage Shkval; Turn Air mode on; Turn HMS on; Adjust Shkval bracket size; Press auto-lock once to turn it on; Press and hold Uncage Shkval button; Move HMS over the target and track the target with it, until Shkval auto locks and TA symbol appears; Release Uncage Shkval button; Turn on laser; Press auto lock button once again to measure distance; Launch Vikhr or fire with cannon.
