Why? In fact triple buffer gives better FPS when vsync is on because of possibility to render additional frame. Without it and vsync on, your FPS will be cut in halves (60, 30, 15 and etc) when FPS can't keep with Hz. However, that setting in NVIDIA control panel only effects OpenGL;DCS doesn't use it, so it isn't relevant to this game.

Detecting enemies; Labels-on to easy, Labels-Off to hard

I think it is Hungarian. -
Try ticking box named "Slider" in axis setup window.

A Poor Man's Dynamic Campaign Engine
ZaltysZ replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Generator can create descent missions. Well, really it depends on how much work was put into developing that generator. Anyway, it is not a problem. The problem is in dynamics (not in campaign level, but in mission level). Triggers are great of course, however they rather make mission to look more dynamic than to be more dynamic. For example: lets say there is package: 2 SEAD aircrafts and 4 ground attack aircrafts; SEAD fails; currently there is no way to make ground attack aircraft abort their mission and they will get shot down. If there was a way to add/remove aircrafts and change their waypoints at runtime, above mentioned problem wouldn't arise. 3rd party could write campaign generator with complex logics, which would query situation regularly and adapt; the best part would be that it could evolve to online war without need to change missions hourly. Imagine how it would be nice, if attacked convoy changed its waypoints and tried hide in forest or city. -
Maybe it would be good idea to write longer post about A2A missiles on Ka-50 and why they are not carried in real life. That post should be made sticky, unless someone wants to be answering the same questions again and again.... (I think this is already the 3rd thread about A2A missiles on Ka-50).

A Poor Man's Dynamic Campaign Engine

It would be perfect if there was possibility to add/remove/modify units at runtime via lua socket. What a "monster" virtual war could be created. -
"smart" upmix. :smilewink: Disable CMSS-3D and then check the sound.
-
Shkval cursor movement is very dependent on FPS count. It is pretty fast and smooth at 60fps.
-
Upmixing to satellites might be done via Creative CMSS-3D (look at Creative Audio Console), however it is just an upmix. True 3D/surround from DirectSound3D based game in Vista is only possible with Alchemy.

TOW stands for "Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wire-to-command-Link". You see, to use NOT the acronym is big pain, especially in forum like this, where much talk is about military related or themed things. It is the same like saying "radio detection and ranging" instead of well accepted acronym "RADAR".

Yes. See here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=600997&postcount=5

You should use Creative Alchemy with X-Fi on Vista to get more than stereo (or stereo upmixed to more speakers). For Realtec: use 3D SoundBack.

What texture quality do you have set in NVIDIA control panel? Try highest possible.

Download version doesn't install any drivers, so kinda you don't have what to update. If you want to update DLLs, then probably you can't, because as far as remember that part in Starforce protection scheme can be updated only by product developers.

Surprisingly low production for the Ka-50

After Cold War and fall of Soviet Union there are some changes to priorities. Now new toys are bought only when they are needed and only when there are enough funds to do that. -
Windows 7 will be fully compatible with Vista. Read it as: re-release or remake. :smilewink:

A1: if it is XP 32 bit, then it will only use about 3.5GB. A2: BS is 32-bit process and is limited to maximum of 2GB of RAM.
-
2003 with PAE lets to use even more than 4GB, however all drivers should be PAE aware. Sadly, most consumer grade hardware drivers aren't aware of it and crash often. For example: Creative X-fi suffers from "squeal of death" when 2003 is running with PAE and 4GB of RAM. So even if 2003 can use see more RAM it still has to be forced to limit RAM as in XP. The limit might be 3.6GB, 3.5GB or near it (depending on hardware).
-
TrackIR interface in BS uses encryption, which I think isn't supported by earlier TrackIR models. NaturalPoint's decision. Hint: dig deeper, I think you may try the same solution as people which try to make FreeTrack to work.

It is good idea to have additional HDD or just partition for such experiments. It is easier to install second OS and make a test than reinstall everything just for that test.

You get generic crash dialog which is showed by system and not by program itself. The exception number is also generic and suitable for "unknown" exceptions. If you have killed unnecessary processes, it doesn't mean that something "evil" isn't running still. Some services run under system processes, some even as drivers. Programs tend to install lots of stuff silently. A month ago my computer was freezing frequently while playing IL2 for prolonged sessions, I fought that was a heat issue, however it wasn't. CDROM filter driver pfc.sys (made by Padus) was crashing whole system. I didn't even know I had it (never installed). Probably it was bundled with other software (maybe DVD player). I have removed it by editing registry and problem dissappeared. This example just shows how strange the reasons for problems can be. I don't have English downloadable version, so my files won't be useful for you. Maybe someone else can provide them. By the way, you may get no button "Update driver", because downloadable version doesn't install any drivers at all.

Yes, only frequency should be exactly the same. -
Mutiplayer Wingman (Map Editor)?
ZaltysZ replied to xxvintersorgxx's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
No. However it would be nice feature. -
It might be that protect.dll is protecting itself. Why a crash and not pop up error? Well, that is standard method of defense against debuggers. I still think, that there is software conflict on your system. Can you make a list of installed software you have?
