Copy that. We have a advanced training scheduled for 1800Z on Sunday. So either we need to do it on this event (which would be very good), or we need to postpone it. Sounds good! Are you available this Sunday at 1800Z? (If you are available at 1700Z we could do the theory part first, and then attend the advanced training, where we could focus on JTAC/CAS). The theory lesson will take place on TS, so you are more than welcome to listen in on the theory. Yes, 1 theory event plus 2 practical events. What I normally do is merge the theory and the first practical event. So do about 1 hour of theory, and then jump into DCS for the practical part. Are you able to attend on Sunday at 1800Z (or 1700Z) together with Yurgon?

@Doughboy: With regard to date/time, I am flexible, however I am in the European timezone. And we normally host our events Wednesdays and Sundays at 1800Z. But I can be availeble outside those timings pending in your schedule. @colyoap: I am sorry that my first post did not state that. The training will be hosted in DCS 1.5.6 (latest official release) only.

The 132nd Virtual Wing will during the next week hold a JTAC course for interested participants in the DCS community. The JTAC course consist of a theory lesson of about 1 hour, followed by 2 practical events where the theory is put into practical application. The course will be supported by 132nd Virtual Wing pilots and AWACS controllers. The aim of the course is to increase the understanding of CAS and the JTAC roles and responsibilities to the DCS community. Once the course is complete, participants are also welcomed and encouraged to attend 132nd on both trainings and combat events. The theoretical part of the course will cover the CAS basics, the CAS flow, how to operate as a JTAC using Combined Arms. In order to get maximum out of this training, participants should expect to read up, using the 132nd CAS manual prior to the theory lesson. The practical part of the course will include attacks using Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 controls. Working with multiple air assets, including helicopters and fixed wing aircrafts. The course will be instructed by personnel with real world knowledge as JTAC. Prerequsites for the training: - DCS: Combined Arms - UniversRadio CAS Examples videos: CAS training: Advanced CAS training: CAS training - No TGP: CAS in night mission: If you are interested in attending a JTAC course, please let me know either via PM or answer in this thread. Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
NECK replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Sorry for the late answer. The radio menus are added by the mission designer prior to the mission. Please see the attached .miz file for the logic I am asking about. When you start the mission, enter the MANPAD unit (only controllable infantry unit, so we use that as a JTAC). Once you control the MANPAD unit you can use F10 to get various radio menus, which will give the JTAC information about the situation he is facing. Once you have looked through the F10 messages, exit the MANPAD and take control of the veichle, drive close to the MANPAD, and pick him up using the CTLD F10 menu in the vehicle. Drop the MANPAD off at a new location. Once he is at the new location, exit the vehicle, and enter the MANPAD. Once controlling the manpad, you will realize that the F10 menus do no longer exist. If it would be possible to also make the F10 menus visible after the MANPAD unit is dropped, it will be an awesome upgrade of CTLD, because we then could have JTAC units at a base, that need to be flown in to a mission area using MI-8 or Huey's. And once in the target area, the JTAC would have access to information from the Ground Force Commander in that area, so that the JTAC will add a lot more value, than only what he can see. 132-ExampleF10 triggers.miz -
Complete Transport and Logistics Deployment - CTLD
NECK replied to Ciribob's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Ciribob: Thank you very much for this excellent work with the CTLD script. As Entropy mentiones above, we use it alot in the 132nd. Based on a mission I am currently making, I want to hear with you if a feature can be added (I do not know much about scripting, so I do not know how much work, and if it is possible at all). First, this is what I want to achieve with the mission: In the 132nd we use human JTAC's, which recives a lot of their information from the Ground Force Commander through the F10 radio menu. In the mission I want the JTAC to be picked up by a MI-8 and flown to a new area to assist ground forces that need Close Air Support. Once in the new area, I want the JTAC to recive the information from the Ground Force Commander by the F10 radio menu. As CTLD is now, it almost works. I am able to take a specific JTAC and extract him via a transport, and insert him somewhere else. However, when I do that, the F10 radio menus that worked prior to the extraction and insertion disappears once the JTAC is inserted at a new location. Would it be possible for a JTAC unit to also get the F10 menus after beeing inserted? (Also, for JTAC we use a Manpad unit, as it can be controlled, and have the functions needed for a JTAC). -
I would highly recommend UniversRadio devloped by Tacno from the 3rd Wing. It is working very well in large complex events with various aircrafts flying, ATC, AWACS and JTAC's. The 132nd Virtual Wing have had events with 32 pilots using UniversRadio working very well. It is compatibale with LotATC (developed by DArt rom the 3rd Wing). It works in the A-10C using UniversRadio aswell (In multiplayer).

Looks great! Thanks for your efforts!

Here you can see JTAC's from the 5e EVC using CA as on a Combined event with the 132nd Virtual Wing (more than 20 pilots attending the event).

Excellent work gromit190! Thank you for you contribution to the DCS community!

Hello! The 132nd Virtual Wing are hosting our 14th mission in the Operation Georgian Thunder campaign thursday 22 dec at 1900Z. For this mission we will have pilots from 373vFS DCS World squadron (Greece) flying RED AIR (aggressors), flying the Mirage 2000C. We are currently looking for a AWACS controller that may be able to support RED AIR, using SimpleRadio and LotATC. If anyone would be interested, please PM me, and I can give you details about the mission, tasking, and admin information. Some examples from previous Georgian Thunder campaign: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130892&page=3

Thank you! We work hard to create a immersive and fun multiplayer environment for the 132nd and all external organizations that want to fly and participate on combat and training events with us. First, thank you for your kind words! 1. No problem at all. We have developed a doctrine document and various other documents that we will be releasing to the public in not a very distant future (All docs are of course availeble on the 132nd website for external organizations attending our events). 2. Yes we still have combined events, and external organizations have a standing invitation to attend our events in order to create a great immersive environment with many different organizations, participants. We host events at wednsdays and sundays at 1900Z. On wednsdays we ar conducting trainings, and on sundays we are either doing combat events or advanced trainings (like the video about air assault training shown a couple of posts above). Details and signup on the event page on the 132nd website (flights can be added to suit certain needs). 3. Yes, we still use a radio plugin. We use UniversRadio as it fits our needs as a organization with ATC, AWACS and JTAC's in addition to the various aircrafts.

Here is a video showing the 132nd in action during a Air Assault training. The video is from the perspective of BEAR 1-3, a MI-8 pilot from the 259th. Attending the training are 3x A-10C, 3x MI-8, 2x KA-50, 1x JTAC, 1x ATC controller.
-
Hello Derk! Thank you for your feedback on the video! Yes, the 259th is a new squadron flying the MI-8 and have replaced the huskies. With the 259th it brings in new missions that can be flown on our events.

Looking very good! Thanks for your contribution!

The 132nd Virtual Wing have a good CAS training with both human JTAC's and FAC(A)'s. In addition CAS missions can also be supported by AWACS.
