  1. honestly i think ed should try and fix the stability issues and then focus almost exclusively on EDGE. new features inevitably create new problems. so, put them on hold until EDGE is released. After that you can implement them in a more efficient way.
  2. ofcourse its a matter of opinion. my point being that the fact that it is debatable speaks volumes of the quality. here are some pics of the mig 21 cockpit. IMHO it is better than anything ed has done so far.
  3. im a bit confused here. so far the 3rd party devs have done an incredible job. the huey and mi8 are both awesome modules and they look very good. if you didn't tell me it was a 3rd party that did this i would have thought ed made them. the onl;y quirk i have with 3rd parties right now is that most seem to be making trainers or non to light combat aircraft. i wish we could see them make pure combat aircraft in the immediate future. id l;ove to see an f16, a mig29, an apache, a tornado, a new version of the su-27, an mi 28. you get where im going at.
  4. i feel that active pause is like training wheels on a bicycle. it is useful for training and getting to know the systems without so much pressure. however, after you have learned this you gotta quit using it. otherwise, you will start to depend on it. the transition might seem tough but it actually isn't. you will notice that after just a couple of flight you will get used to it. you will also develop new skills. learn to plan your attacks better, develop better situational awareness and learn to recognize danger zones. the one mistake most a10c learners make is fixating on their mfcd's. this might be a side effect of active pause. once you start playing without it you will start to looking outside your cockpit canopy mmuch more and only scanning your instruments.
  5. missile performance is something that ed has to fix not server owners. if each server had its own parameters it would be chaotic. i can adjust to differences in performance from patch to patch but to adjust from server to server is just absurd. to be honest i am content with the current performance. it might not be perfect but it does follow the general guidelines and different missiles perform more or less like you would expect them to. im not saying they are fine the way they are right now. what i am saying is that perhaps only tweaking is needed and no drastic changes are necessary. i would most certainly not consider modding the S77TH server to change missile performance.

  7. i have installed them and to be honest i cant see any difference. i have done tests or anything similar. however if someone would have installed them without telling me i would have remained oblivious to the fact. looking forward to what other members find. PS: im only referring to dcs i havent tried them in any other games yet
  8. Hi guys, im trying to run our new server but im experiencing a weird issue. it used to work fine but now, whenever i start a mission it starts like if i was running it on singleplayer. i get the "select role" popup right away and no matter what i do the server wont go online.
  9. i voted for the new engine. i believe it is an improvement that will have a nice chain reaction effect. this should enable multi threading among other things that could enable a more efficient performance and therefore, adding other features that would add immersion. not to mention the upgraded eye candy. also, i have always felt that until the new engine is released development on other areas is limited. why develop something for engine 1.0 when engine 2.0 is theoretically around the corner.

  11. hello, i recently noticed that wing flex has been added to the su-27. (no its not only the leading edges). pull some high g maneuvers and you will notice it. never saw an announcement for this so im wondering if it was intentional and if it coming for the other plans. btw thank for adding this. its one of those little things that adds a lot of immersion.

  13. well if dcs level isnt achievable id rather have a fc3 sm or 35 than none at all. as long as the capabilities of what the aircraft can and cannot do are realistic im fine with it. my only problem would be to give the users of these planes an unfair advantage. i do not perceive this with the current fc3 planes. so, if you can do a similar level of detail on more modern aircraft im fine with it.
  14. ok so i am now trying different things. i disabled intel hd graphics via bios but it didnt do anything. so i made a new install of windows 7 on my secondary drive and well guess what im getting 25-30 fps with the same exact settings.

  16. also i think we would need the a su27 with fully modeled systems to be able to execute the cobra. i believe you need to disable the aoa limiter to pull it off.
  17. absolutely true. punkbuster by itself is next to useless. however with some community support that makes custom checks and updates them with current know cheats plus making pb screenshots available publicly. it is always a valid solution. im suggesting it because of the complaints. honestly i haven't noticed any cheat while i have flown. of course it doesnt mean its not happening. one advantage pb has is being able to generate costume ban lists. you can ban names, uid, ip's( not recommended) and mac address. as i said i would suggest this if the cheating problem starts to get out of hand if it isnt and slmod is capable of handling current problems. well you know what they say, dont fix what aint broken.
  18. i dont know about the specifics of the video card but it doesnt surprise me you are struggling using eyefinity with only 512mb of vram. so depending on your resolution 2gb of vram couls make a big difference. as for the rest of the details youll have to get someone more familiar with ati card
  19. ok so i spoke to nvidia tech support regarding the choosing the gpu vs intel hd. the say i dont have an option because this feature is exclusive to laptops and that on desktops it will always use my gpu. as for your question xracer. i am doing the testing in the easy east georgy instant action mission. i get the fps increase using the mod you suggested at the very begging. as soon as i close in on the trucks at waypoint 1 my fps drop and stay there even if i move out of the area. i tried something differnt and had funny results. i used kuky's very high visible range mod and i actually notices a performance increase to around 15 fps. i know that would be unacceptable performance but the fact that it performnce better with higher settings kind of reveals that there is a problem indeed. i have messed around with my nv panel setting and none of them seem to affect this issue.

  21. i cant find the settings in skatezillas suggestion, however, i continued testing with that graphics lua mod. it initally gave me a boost. however, once i get near targets it drops again to 10-9 and stays there. so something in game has got to be triggering this behaviour. i ran same scenaria using cntrl+pause x2 to view the different parameter. i did notice something that im not sure is normal. but under ram it is constantly displaying 0. on memory it varies it is usually 0-1mb and sometimes jumps to 4mb. both seem kind low to me but i dont know how it is supposed to be.
  22. ok im not sure if im in right control panel. im on the nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, dcs settings. however, i dont see that iption anywere. i tried seraching for nvidia optimus technology in control panel but i dont see it anywere. not sure if if you mean the regular nvidia control panel or something else entirely. btw thanks for the help
  23. how can i do that? that could be the prob. i did notice in some instances that the gpu load would drop. not always but it did happen so it could be related.
  24. wow! just tried the edit on the grafics.lua and it worked!. im getting around 35 fps. do you guys have any idea on how that mod would need to look like on thew autoexec file?
