Well i am willing to spend the money if the improvment is really noticable if not id rather wait another gen. If im going to get a 30+% gain in performance i would do it but for 10 - 15 % i th8nk i would rather wait. I am just not quite sure how much my cpu is holding my performance or if it is mostly due to poor optimisation of the engine
-
Dont want to derail your thread but would you mind sharing your engine managment insights for dogfighting? Im enjoying very much learning the mustang but engine mangement has been a problem for me. I guess i have been spoiled by the more modern aircraft

Hi guys ive been considering upgrading my cpu for a while. I have an i7 920 overclocked to 3.6. My video card is a nvidia gtx titan and i feel that my cpu is seriously holding it back in dcs world. I understand that dcs is pretty cpu dependant so my main concern is how much of a boost would i see going from my cpu to a 4770k in dcs.

im still in shock watching the Tu-22M. is there a different technique or something being used here? is it me or the model look much better than everything else before. also the detail on the reapers tgp is amazing.

WOW. I get that you dont like the project but the selfishness and disregard you show for all the people in this community that are looking forward to it is simply astonishing. if you dont like it you dont have to buy it. why wish for it to fail is beyond me. on another note. the latest screens seem promising thank for the update. seems like the kickstarter isnt going to make it but looking forward to being part of the opeval anyway. I admire the determination showed by the KI team. so much pointless criticism can undermine anyone. thankfully I think the support shown by a large part of the community is will keep you guys going.

edge info would be a priority for me. its been a long time since we have heard of any official updates on this. plus, I do believe that the introduction of edge soon would be the logical step seen the amount of development being done on other modules.

i think that dissimilarity in air combat is actually accurate. most real life scenarios offer this. look at the persian gulf war. imagine a conflict usa vs iran and you will probably find f22's going up against f-4, f-5, mig29, mirage or f14's. I do agree that if you introduce a new aircraft providing an acceptable counterpart would be nice but some of the different era mismatches are actually probable in real life so I dont really see the problem.

great idea about the hotas. having the authentic hotas helps with the learning curve ans provides a lot of immersion. a little side question about this. does anyone know if the f35 stick is force sensitive one like the f22 ?

I hope kinney interactive realizes all this skepticism is more about surprise and disbelief than anything else. I am very surprised to see this news. I had already convinced myself that I would never get a module of a jet this modern in dcs. so reading this is in development is a bit of a shocker. I am very pleased with the confidence displayed by both wags and eagle13. best of luck with the project and I am looking forward to trying your product. PS: I am curious about your decision of developing the f35. looking at the background I would have assumed the f22 to be the more natural choice and it would have been just as surprising and revolutionary to bring to dcs world. also, seeing all the attention this news got I would suggest opening a forum section for kinney interactive after the dust settles a bit.

ok First of all thanks for the help. I tried the Autoexec file but it didnt work. I double checked that the texture path was correct and that wasnt the problem. I read the graphics_readme and I cant understand why it didnt work. I am guessing that for some reason dcsw isnt loading the file or something. anyway, I did manage to fix the problem by adding the path to the lua file. I understand it will be overridden with the next update but i simply couldn't get the autoexec to work. perhaps some of you guys can try it and post your findings. thanks

so instead of adding the following line in the graphics.cfg file path = ".\\Bazar\\World\\textures\\Killermachine_Su-33"; I would add them to the newer lua file? which one is the new lua file?

im finding that the textures on the mod no longer work in 1.2.4 has anyone else tried it?

I dont know who is wrong and who is right. however I understood wag's latest comment a bit different. from what I understood they are basically offering us an f15c and su27 that are similar to the fc3 ones with the addition AFM for both. these will be sold independently from fc3. this two modules would be available shortly and wont compromise development of other projects. the funding gained from the sale of this product will help finance the projects that are being worked on. so far so good for me. my doubt remains in what those other projects are. would we be buying these mid range quality planes to help finance the further development of these same modules?? in simpler words, I want a full dcs quality flanker. if you offer me now a mid quality one while we wait for the full dcs one I will gladly buy it. however, I would still fully expect the an a10c quality su27 product further down the line. I would think of it as a prequel. i get a teaser of the su27 while the real deal is being worked on and I would be helping by funding its development. If this is the plan you can count me in.

I am also thinking of upgrading from a gtx 580 to a titan. do you think there would be a noticeable upgrade in performance even without changing my i7 920 cpu? kind waiting for haswell to upgrade cpu. I am only concerned with the performance effect in dcs.

the f117 is a single seater. and for the rest its a matter of simulating the other pilot. not saying its simple just that it is probably not the reason for not having it.

looking at the repertoire of aircraft I notice the lack of a proper bomber. wondering if there is simply little interest, too much classified stuff or something else?

Saitek X65F/SST Software Issues
Bandit. replied to Sven2157's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I ave had this problem too. for an unknown reason one of the buttons gets stuck as if i was continuously pressing it. then after a while the button stops working. its weird though. if i go to the profile editor the button press is detected it just wont do the bind it is supposed to. so far the only way ive found to solve it is to restart my pc and cross my fingers that doesn't happen again. -
Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Bandit. replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
just found this video. look more like a mod than anything else. in any case it gives a good idea of what the su-27sm might look/feel like in dcsw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAGegPjWjtk -

some info about the su 27sm. its rather vague and not sure how accurate but i felt like contributing. anyway if anyone has more specific info it would be awesome. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/su-27sm.htm -
Notching whilst keeping the lock (29s)
Bandit. replied to Cmptohocah's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
as far as my limited knowledge on this goes it seems possible. however, there are some things to consider. the bandit is unlikely to just keep flying on a straight line like that and the second is that you would be very low on energy and basically become a sitting duck in case your maneuver fails. -
having a target locked with both radar and eos is possible ad can be useful. it allows you to fire any type of missile, if you indeed have a lock with both sensors. once you have radar lock you can turn eos on. this however does not mean you have eos lock. the only way i know of verifying that you in fact have lock with both sensors is to switch between missile types. if you get a launch queue you have a lock (naturally if you override the launch authorized its meaningless) . what you cant do is scan with both systems at the same time.

i dont want to sound too harsh. but, even though im very excited about the new pits and models i cant help but think that fc3 will still feel incomplete until we get 6dof and new models for all the flyables. it doesnt have to be done overnight but it has to get done. people who fly mig 29 and su 33 will keep feeling left out otherwise

new 27 pit mean also 33 pit?
Bandit. replied to jason_peters's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
i do agree with answer matt gave you. it is perfect;y logical. however, i do believe that the current software deserves upgrades precisely on playable aircraft. the community aching for 3d cockpits and top notch models for fc3 planes is expected. upgrade flyables and leave other planes for later. i dont think many people will have an issue with that -
new 27 pit mean also 33 pit?
Bandit. replied to jason_peters's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
same here. i would pay for such an add on -
How can I land Su27 with no forward vision
Bandit. replied to tonym's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
i also have no idea what you are talking about. may i suggest using the in cockpit ils gauges. they are much more accurate than the hud. the only problem i have notices is with landing su 33 on the carrier. my instruments seem to guide me to crash against the beginning of the carrier.i dont know if its me or the system but the only way i seem to help these is to basically do a visual correction right a the end
