Well if it can't switch profiles on the fly, I'm not gonna bother, too much assle. A few keys is one thing, the whole set for several planes is going to be a nightmare.
-
Something along those lines, but I wanted to able to switch airplane profiles, and to include remaps for all aircraft within a single file, sounds like big and messy and confusing as hell to acomplish.
-
Ok I'm trying to get a little inventive with some ptofiles. I though I saw in the past a way to load another .tmc profile from the script, but going over the TM pdf manual I'm coming up empty. Does anyone know if this can indeed be done and how?
-
I seem to have been able to avoid this same problem recently by disconnecting and reconnecting my WH usb plugs after PC reboot. You can usually tell if you are going to have problems when you try to run your script because it takes a while for it to compile and run the profile, when it should be almost imediate. But now I just replug run the profile, and that has been working out for me.

No... thats the oposite from what I said. AIRIO is a seperate purchasse. But the Radio presets are not a part of AIRIO but rather a base VAICOM function.
-
Correct. There are really no new AIRIO commands on this update, the commands that were added work in the base plugin. This post explains how to add them: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4178807&postcount=3782 Actually the ability to tune radios already existed what is new is the ability to do it with preset channels.
-
Vaicom allows to send commands to DCS not usually avaiable through the comms menu, to my knowledge this command also does not exist with a programable keypress, but have a look on the comms section on your controls assignment. If there's nothing there your squadron mates are out of luck.

Awesome deal, unfortunately I'm in Europe...

So I just uploaded my own version of a texture size reduction for he Tomcat. If any are interested. A resize of all relevant external textures of the HB F-14B module. Inspired by Japo32's similar pack, I started by redoing a few things I tough deserved improving or adding to his pack and ended up re-doing all of it... Mainly aimed at myself and my aging GTX 970 with 4Gb VRAM, I think this can benefit others and VR users in particular. In summary if your FPS struggles around Tomcats in DCS, this might be for you. Inspired by Japo32's own mod https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303918/ Why bother when the other was already available? -It includes the ChromeCat skin in the Liveries Folder. -It includes more files fr om the Textures folder, 115 total. -The wing edge metallic surface is no longer jagged. (This in particular prompted me to remake all the texture re-sizing as I wasn't sure if Japo32's resizing had used some less accurate method, or if he was using older HB textures which had that problem on the wings. And even tough nothing else was sticking out for me, I was unsure if there would be other issues later on, so I just went with all of it basically) My approach was similar to Japo32's, for the most part I reduced textures to 1/2 and saved them in DXT1 with some exceptions: -Phoenix Pylons were reduced to 1/4 as they originally have a 4K texture for the relative small size of the pylons (they still look great). -Some textures like the Refueling probe were not touched, or only saved in DXT1 (DXT1 files are generally half the size of a similar resolution BC7). The refueling probe in particular was left this way because even tough it's relatively small on an external view. It already has a relatively low-res texture when viewed from inside the cockpit. -Normals were reduced in size but saved as BC7s as I soon found that some surfaces particularly metallic ones(like the exhausts and the whole plane as the ChromeCat) looked very pixelated otherwise. Personally I think it all looks great still, unless you go to extreme level of zoom on the plane you probably won't tell the difference. Maybe if you play on 4K, I can't tell because I'm still on 1080p. The ChromeCat screenshot was taken with this pack installed. Installation: The CoreMods folder must be placed on your main install root. But I recommend using a mod manager like OvGME or jsGME. This will be overwritten with DCS updates. Had to split the File in two, Part 1 Part 2

On the second post of the tread Hollywood posted the links to a couple of Knerboards created by Vaicom users have a look https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3330611&postcount=2

You cannot cage it after it is uncaged, but you MUST uncage it when starting cold (by clicking on it), then you can trim it with the mouse wheel. I have never seen an instance where this instrument doesn't work, are you sure you are uncaging it when starting cold? Also the manual (also from NATOPS) mentions that this must be uncaged at least 2 minutes prior to taking off, but idk if that has any impact on the sim.

Get this is often enough as well, glad it's being tracked.

What are you talking about? Of course it is!

@moggel Without knowing the specifics of your profile can't really help figure out why your TX's or PTT's aren't working. But I am using TARGET and I've found a solution that works very well for me. For TX's and SRS radio (same button simultaneous) I use the extended function keys since TARGET allows for that (F13-F24). And I put that on a Long Press command through target with about a 300ms delay. On the short press I put the standard DCS PTT for the same radio in case I'm not running VA for that particular session for some reason. Come to think of it, make sure you are really careful with your TARGET programming that involves key presses, keep anything that has modifier keys (Shift, Ctrls and Alts) away from your toggles and only use them on momentary push button commands, as any other command key-press you try to use while that one is active will be altered and will either fail to activate or activate something unintended.

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
lxsapper replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'd like to ask if altered textures files from the textures folder (i.e Diffuse_RoughMet, Normals, Ordinance) can go on the SaveGames folder and if they can what is the correct path for them. Or if they must remain on the main game instalation? -
You are right the F-14 doesn't have this controls, they exist on other planes (i.e F-18) but not on the Tomcat module atm. Sorry the only way I see to get around your problem is using TM TARGET to program other axis in "shift states" that you can then use to assign to each engine. Maybe someone else can think of another way.
-
If you have both engines bond to an axis you may not be able to do this at all. But you could by to have keyboard commands for each engine control and at start not touch or axis at all until both engines are started.

Made this one:

Not entirely sure but that doesn't seem like a Vaicom issue. Are you sure in that particular situation the two wouldn't overlap before you had Vaicom?
-
Try to have a look at this: Edit your VAICOM profile in VA, anf find this command. Then edit the command and check it, it should look like this: That's all I can think of.
-
Unfortunately it's not, but you can use keystrokes to do it. If your controller solution doesn't provide a way to do this, use a generic one like joy2key or similar. I'm using TM TARGET to do it, some people might find it better to always have the TXs PTTs on the same place not to cause confusion, but I prefer to set up my controlers to try to mimic as much as possible the real aircraft, so I end up having them diferent. I'm using TARGETs ability to use keystrokes for functions keys F13-F24 to easely program single keystrokes with no conflicts in DCS. This is also the best way if you don't want to keep having to go into SRS and chage your assignments as well (if you're using that too). Other than that there is one way to do it with VoiceAttack (even though I said there was not), wich is to make several copies of your VAICOM profile and set up each one for an aircraft.
-
And you are right of course about the controls indicator as well, glad you have it sorted. I was actually thinking of the Gunners AI panel that is set but the "show hints at mission start" which is set in the huey special options. Sin't even realize there was an option to set the actual "controls indicator" on by default.

Don't sweat it, just a friendly pointer. I would have gone with the harrier subforum. If I was asking about the view labels in general only, I would probably have gone with general DCS help or something. But both questions toguether I think the harrier forum would have been more than ok. Probably also more likely to get help with the subject you want that way.
