  1. +1 Advance in DSP software and hardware is something which is highly classified - no way that even the end users in their own military would have any clue about it. The only way to learn the innards of the modern military radar is good old espionage and deflection of the pilot and aircraft. We can't find that kind of info on the net, university and/or popular military books, declassified manuals etc. P.S. Same for DSP part of Active missile head (radar & IR)
  2. Thanks Sobek, not used to vBulletin. SMF guy here ...
  3. Sorry for the posts. ... My point was that no one knows exactly what's going on in a such a vital system as radar on the last generation military aircraft. Web sites, although useful cannot be the source to base definitive conclusions. I don't dismiss the source, I'm only saying that it could be deceiving.
  4. It would be even more stupid not to plan for possibility ... Yeah, it's very likely that they will post top secrets on their web site ... :) :music_whistling:
  5. Well, any other credible source, beside your well educated guessing, then? :) You may be right, but then without credible source we really don't know whats under the SU-27sm hood, do we? I wouldn't be surprised if they have some new, revolutionary DSP algorithm going on - loads of bright people over there. But, hey, I'm guessing now as well :D It would be stupid to update whole bunch of SU-27 to lower standard than '90s F-15c, especially in current economical climate in Russia, which is not bad at all. There is only one public source ATM, and it is disputed with very strong arguments. There are no other sources on which you, me or anybody else could claim F-15c or SU-27SM superiority with any credibility. Without direct NATO-Russia conflict (which will never happen BTW) we would never know. So, I'm amused with all this mine is bigger than yours thing :D, hey I'm getting good at it! :megalol: There you go ... :megalol:
  6. Not questioning your skills in any way :worthy: - it's about maneuverability in close quarters - if SU pilot is any good, he/she won't let your bug that close to pop up flares :D It's much better and smarter strategy than slamming in your opponent though! :megalol:
  7. You would stall ... :megalol:
  8. Very close is relative. Close as designing the actual radar? Or close as putting it together? Operating the aircraft (SU-27SM)? Maintaining it? In reality, WE DON'T KNOW - we are guessing in (very) educated way. It's plausible that SU-27sm radar is significant improvement, imo
  9. Aha, so he is guessing and we are guessing. Basically, we don't know then? It boils down to what propaganda you tend to believe - ;)
  10. It should have almost double the range of basic N001.
  11. Probably around 100 maybe even more by now, because there is ongoing process of modernization of current SU-27S. http://lenta.ru/news/2011/11/03/su27sm/
  12. To be honest, the biggest fear of mine is if owners of ED suddenly decide to sell company. This video could be a selling promo targeting big players in the gaming industry :D P.S. Hey, this forum is full of conspiracy theories, so I'm just contributing ...
  13. And with proposed tactics in this topic, we should be afraid, very afraid! :helpsmilie: :megalol:
  14. Well, I don't want to argue about classification of airplanes (it depends who is classifying and almost all sources I tend to believe in put SU-27SM firmly in 4+ category) If MiG 29m is classified as 4++ (by Mikoyan), and plain SU-27 as 4th generation, SU-27SM is obviously somewhere in between. :)
  15. If SU-27SM is result of ED contract with Sukhoi and/or RuAF (I don't think that it would be possible to get state clearance to release gen 4+ aircraft otherwise), DCS model would represent the real thing, nothing less realistic than A-10c module. I would like that ED get another contract with USAF, for F-15c simulator this time - that's basically the only way to get realistic data, especially for recent revision in avionics department. Until that happen, I doubt the realism of F-15c and A-A NATO missiles in DCSW.
  16. EDIT: havent seen EDIT :D
  17. ;) That's exactly what I hinted in my previous post:
  18. DCS quality simulator for SU-27SM with proper cockpit, would be great (and cheap) marketing asset to Sukhoi and perfect demonstration software on international fairs. ;) We're guessing here, but very soon we'll know the truth.
  19. The biggest news and surprise is announcement of SU-27SM. If this turns out to be true, there are some major implications: 1. SU-27SM is (will be) the new, undisputed Ruler of the DCSW skies :P 2. It proves that is feasible to model gen 4+ Russian aircraft regardless of the new anti-spy laws in RF. 3. It proves that ED more than cares and is prompt to address community concerns regarding recent relegation of Russian aircraft development. 4. I'll spend more money, and hundreds of hours mastering the aircraft. Divorce is very probable outcome ... :D Now, entering wait game ... :helpsmilie:
  20. Hey Quirk! Thanks for the effort. Mic looks great and the mount design is unobtrusive and very clever. Just perfect!
  21. New, more powerfull and modern radar (N001V), MFD-s ... New sheriff in town, for sure - it should own F-15c. I already see threads in the line of: "We need F22 to balance the multiplayer!" :D
  22. Hey, np! SU-27SM! - GREAT NEWS!
  23. Hey, don't forget: :D
  24. SU-27SM, F/A-18C, FW-190!? WOW! :cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc:
