None of them will work with steam. You have to have the standalone DCS World to use the store products. -
I remember seeing the night airshow at Miramar in 1999... Too bad they don't do those anymore.

That may be true, to an extent. The actual aircraft knowledge will be there but the sales part might be a hang up though as there are already Caribou's in FSX where, as yet, there are no PFM/EFM pilotable transports of any sort in DCS and, if the Blue Flag thread is any indication, a fixed wing transport is definitely wanted. Also, experience making aircraft in one sim does not really equate to making the same aircraft easier in DCS. The best people to ask about the difficulty of making a DCS module from a FSX start would be the Razbam team as they are working on the Harrier right now. If I were to hazard a guess, the differences between the two sim platforms are night and day.

IOC stands for Initial Operational Capability. It is the minimum standard for useful deployable service.

A-10C is a upgrade/modification of the A-10A. There were no new build A-10C airframes. IOC for the A-10C was in 2007.

Forrestal and Nimitz classes yes. I haven't heard of anyone making a Kitty Hawk... I'd love to have the Hawk though, she was the first ship I deployed on... and Nimitz was my last.:thumbup: -
The US fighting in the Caucuses is not plausible either... yet it is the main map included in DCS and a lot of people are happy with it being that way. You don't believe Iceland is a possibility for a DCS map due to the belief that the USSR was predictable and it would be a dumb move. Got it. But an Iceland map does have a lot of things going for it with size, strategic importance, and a culturally significant work of fiction. Don't be confused, I am not advocating for this map, I merely mentioned that it is a real possibility as a Tomcat map and I would rather see the Norwegian Sea or Murmansk Peninsula in DCS as I believe they would be a better value gameplay wise.

You do realize we are talking about a map for a computer game about a fictional war that never happened right? The "absence of evidence is evidence of absence" quote is not really valid in this case because none of this came to pass. The fact that an enemy will not behave as one expects and Iceland being of strategic importance during the Cold War is a good enough reason to make a DCS map of it... possibly better because of its small relative size and the fact that all DCS maps made so far are small. Iceland is just as valid a possibility as any of the other guesses for the Tomcat map.

Iceland is in the ball park for a Tomcat map. The "nothing ever goes according to plan" part is the critical piece of my post plus and the popular work of fiction you refer to leads me to think of Iceland as a possibility regardless of the actual real world planning. My true hope is that the map will be either Norway or Murmansk.

Except that there are zero active Air Force bases in that little red square. The only US air station that is in there is Galena Air Force Station which is now used as a weather divert field and is maintained by civilian contractors. The major bases are Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Eielson AFB near Fairbanks, Eareckson Air Station on Shemya Island, King Salmon Air Station near King Salmon AK closed in 1993 and NAF Adak on Adak island which was closed in 1997. All are widely spread out and the map would be huge. As for the Russians, a quick look at google earth reveals zero air stations in the area delineated by the square. An Alaska map would be nothing like the Caucuses map where you can almost see the next airfield as soon as you take off. Now, I'm all for huge maps but I don't think that is what we will get with the Tomcat release. As far as the Tomcat map is concerned I'm leaning towards a Norwegian sea or Murmansk Peninsula map. They are also large maps but seem much more plausible for a mid to late 80's Tomcat. Iceland is also a real possibility. Several people have posted on the conventional war plans for fighting the Soviets... I have read through them as well and I can say with complete confidence that nothing ever goes according to plan. The North Pacific would have been a sideshow had a conventional land war in Europe started. The strategic goal of the Navy would have been the disruption of Soviet forces operating in the northern Atlantic to ensure the safe arrival of troops and supplies from North America for operation Reforger. Nothing happening in the Pacific would have had the strategic significance of the battle of the Atlantic had the Soviets attacked Europe.

1985 Cold War... F-4's, F-111's, A-6E's, Su-17's, Tornados, Mi-24's, AH-1F's F-104G's plus al the ones you listed. A close second would be WWII 1939-1945 and then third would be anything 1965-1979.

I would definitely love to have a twin engine or six of them... Me-410A/B Hornesse, Hs-129B-2, B-26B Marauder, He-219A Uhu, Mosquito FBVI, Beaufighter MkVI. We need more Heavy Fighters, Fighter-Bombers, Nightfighters and Level bombers to start to flesh out the WWII era. :thumbup:

The question was ask, and LN chose to not give an answer. The modules they are working on right now are not even ready yet. I wouldn't expect a list or any sort of teasers of future modules until the Viggen and Tomcat are out at the very least.

I want their next project to be an F-111E, F-111F, F-4E, F-4G or F-4J. I also recognize that there is a need for more full fidelity Russian aircraft. The MiG-21PF, Mig-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-23BN, MiG-27M, MiG-27K, MiG-25RBS, MiG-25BM, MiG-25PD, Su-17M3, Su-17M4, Su-15TM, Su-24M, Tu-22KD or Tu-128M.. Any of those would be nice to have in game as well.

QUESTION 1, Would you buy an AV-8B Harrier Module A = Yes B = No C = Depends how good the F/A-18C is QUESTION 2, How long do you honestly believe before the Harrier will be introduced?(No disrespects to RAZBAAM you guys are great!) A = By the end of 2016 B = 12 Months C = 18 Months + QUESTION 3, Are you more excited for the AT-27 Tucano that is supposed to be released by the end of this year, or waiting some more time for the AV-8B? A = AT-27 B = AV-8B C = Who said the AT-27 would be released soon! D = I expect them both to be worked on in parallel and the time taken to make them as good as they can be. Question 4, Do you see the AV-8B having a place in DCS World? A = Yes, it will add some very interesting gameplay features to DCS B = It is a niche aircraft in real life and will be in DCS C = It is unique but it does nothing the FA-18C won't do, in fact it won't do anything nearly as good as the F/A-18C D = The AV-8 fits perfectly with the current CAS centric gameplay of DCS. Question 5, Do you really hope RAZBAAM will soon turn a large amount of its research and development into the highly complex AV-8B? A = Yes, RAZBAAM needs to finish up the AT-27 and start full work on the AV-8B ASAP! B = No, the AV-8B is still highly classified (as are all the 4th gen fighters) and will take a very long time to make, don't get your hopes up for it! C = They are already well into development of the AV-8 and I am looking forward to RAZBAM cranking up their development the A-7E, A-6E and Jaguar GR1.

As stated, the Deuce and Six Delta's would be difficult to implement in DCS in its current state what with the small maps and lack of real GCI. They are just too specialized. The Voodoo would need to be a version that would be useful within the framework of the current game... An F-101A/C or RF-101C would be optimal. The F-101B, being an interceptor, would have the same limitations as the two Deltas. I voted F-105, F-104 and F-100 in that order. The F-100D or F-100F would be good choices as they were used from the late 50's to the mid 80's (in Turkish service). It would be interesting learning to handle this jet. The F-104G would also be a good choice due to its ground attack capabilities and the use of it with Kormoran missiles by the Marinefliger. It also had quite a long service life with multiple air forces and would have figured heavily in the fighting in central Europe had the cold war gone hot. The F-105 Thunderchief would be great to have in DCS especially in its F-105D and F-105G forms. It would be a great aircraft to have in DCS as it is an older fighter bomber. I'm having a lot of fun bombing with the F-5E and I think these jets would be really fun as well.

When jettisoned, the real Mk-82SE will remain in slick configuration if properly armed by the ordnance crew. The F-5E weapons manual 1F-5E-34-1-1 even states such on pdf page 109 under operation. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1946809/

I read through the AMA and was wondering if you were on the 2003 Cruise on the Roosevelt with VF-213? I was in VS-24 at the time on nights and really enjoying the good chow and full support services during the vampire ops.
