Question about the F-14 throttle and general fighter lingo
Eagle7907 replied to S. Low's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Question about the F-14 throttle and general fighter lingo It should be lit. Beyond Mil should be introduction of fuel into the AB stage. That fuel isn’t going to just disappear. Again an animation inaccuracy. From someone in the know: The AB fuel control splits fuel flow into three metered streams (local, core, and fan) on a sequential basis into the AB manifolds for distribution through spraybars in the AB duct. Throttle commands initiate local fuel flow and AB ignition (minimum afterburner). Once local fuel flow and flame are established, core fuel flow commences. As maximum core fuel flow is established, fan fuel flow commences and increases until maximum AB is achieved. The transitions between local, core, and fan fuel flow are smooth and unnoticed. During non-AB operation, fuel flow is circulated through the AB manifolds to prevent thrust lags and surges when AB is initiated. Max position should correspond with Max AB. Addendum: It looks like the AB should start working once out of MIL, however it is limited to Max by certain altitudes and airspeeds. So going full forward on the throttles will yield different results based on if you are high altitude/slow airspeed regime. So based on if you’re high and slow, going to Max will give you the maximum the engines can allow based on the reduction schedule. If you have a certain manual, it has a graph to illustrate. Question about the F-14 throttle and general fighter lingo
Eagle7907 replied to S. Low's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Question about the F-14 throttle and general fighter lingo I’m thinking the throttle animation doesn’t match with the actual demand in the sim. It should be a bug. However, I’m not sure if this may be a DCS limitation or not. The MIL label should correspond with the MIL position as pictured. Same as Max should correspond to Max position. Only way to verify that is by throttle angles that match the diagrams for the labeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
Questions about Stores config switch Uh, okay? That’s what I meant. How else would it know what stores are loaded? Yes they MAY accept the caution. However the pilot is also responsible for any damage that may occur by doing so. (Ie carpet dance, hearing, a talking to, spankin) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Questions about Stores config switch Correct. The jet knows what stores are onboard. It will throw the stores config caution if the switch is not set correctly. You can always over g regardless of the switch set. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

From what I understand this isn't completely implemented. According to the -1, the jet should know if any Cat III stores are present and it should cue the pilot to flip the switch either if switch is in wrong category for detected stores or when Cat III stores are not detected/expended. Otherwise, the limiters seem to be working.

[REPORTED] Left wheelbrake not functioning,
Eagle7907 replied to Topgun505's topic in Bugs and Problems
Maybe related? Also, it may be related to this problem. I've noticed if you runup to 80% while holding brakes, the jet will do a very slow rotation to the right on the vertical axis. -
[REPORTED] Left wheelbrake not functioning,
Eagle7907 replied to Topgun505's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can confirm, I had this happen just now. I did sharp turns on a ramp. I bumped the thrust moderately for a taxi speed, full right rudder and right brake. I get about 180 degrees. Do the same thing going left. Left rudder and brake. I'm able to go about 420 degrees. Quite comical. Also noticed when using right brake, the animation for the left wheel stops. Should be the right wheel that stops. -
Wheel brakes not fully applying?
Eagle7907 replied to Arbil's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I think the braking power altogether is too weak. Even during the landing roll after aerobraking down to 100 knots, it takes way too much pavement to slow down. Also I think the anti skid isn’t very well simulated, too. It may be a contributing factor. Do a high speed taxi down runway and apply moderate to max brake pressure. You see the wheels lock then release repeatedly. Granted once below a set speed usually these systems don’t work and if you do apply the same braking pressure, the wheels will lock up and you’ll skid, but that’s at like below 20 knots wheel speed typically. I’ve never seen or heard of an anti skid system respond that slow. It’s whole purpose is to prevent skidding. Don’t seem to do that well at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Same here. -
I asked this just recently, Wags said it doesn’t have what you and I are thinking. I remember it was the Uncage button though. I’ve ordered a -1 for the block 50. I can’t stand not being able to look this stuff up myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

ILS in Kutaisi Also, I think you may have turned off CMD STEERING by pressing the zero M-SEL button then enter on the ILS page. I read that somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If you look closely at his pictures, he did. Problem was he wasn’t getting signal for unknown reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

My understanding is that’s just an equivalent of a flight director for ILS. It shouldn’t affect if ILS works or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

[CHECKING] ILS Glideslope indication, maybe
Eagle7907 replied to Eagle7907's topic in Bugs and Problems
From AIM: The glide path projection angle is normally adjusted to 3 degrees above horizontal so that it intersects the MM at about 200 feet and the OM at about 1,400 feet above the runway elevation. The glide slope is normally usable to the distance of10 NM. However, at some locations, the glide slope has been certified for an extended service volume which exceeds 10 NM. So, it doesn't indicate how far it actually is certified, but can be higher than 10. Look at approach charts of KORD, KLAX, KDFW. Those ILS approaches are certified for great distances. Now, ATC can tell me to intercept a localizer at 30 miles out, but legally, can't clear me the approach until within the certified distance for that transmitter. That still doesn't mean the indication just stops. -
[CHECKING] ILS Glideslope indication, maybe
Eagle7907 replied to Eagle7907's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, ORD approach does it all the time for both going east or west. I've seen the indications myself. It all depends on the transmitter, but easily any standard ILS, the beam should go out further than 14 miles, unless blocked by line of sight (obstruction). Let me see if I can find some black and white for you. -
LOL..... I have no idea. You did it somehow. :dunno:
-
Ah there you go. I guess you have to have CMD Steering ON (highlighted) to work. Also I'm discussing about how 14 miles the GS comes on in my own thread, which doesn't seem right.
-
I noticed your Command Steering is OFF. Try turning that ON and see if that changes anything. How did you do that anyways? I couldn't figure how to turn it off.

[CHECKING] ILS Glideslope indication, maybe
Eagle7907 replied to Eagle7907's topic in Bugs and Problems
Uh, no. Thats not true. It happens all the time. Ive seen ILS go out farther than 50 miles. Just the other night, APP in Columbia, SC had me intercept for ILS 11, about 15-20 miles out. -
no, but what are the winds. If wind isn't favoring 08, then ILS might not be powered. Try in no wind, if you did have wind. If you didn't have wind, call ATC and verify they are using 08. Ah okay. Hmmm......I'm thinking. According to what I'm seeing, you're a about 2,000 feet high in the picture for the distance from runway. But, you should still have indications. Yeah, you should at least have a localizer.

Does the F-16C block 50 have an ILS declutter mode/function?
