Speaking of, when will it get fixed? Been close to a year now? Who fixes it? ED? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Correct. Only use of them is using them like dumb bombs at the moment. They will not “guide” to anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

AI attack commands Update: I believe I have narrowed down the problem. It wasn’t the weapons it’s when -2 says bingo. The stores I have loaded this time do not include fuel tanks but 9Xs, 120Cs, 65Fs, CBUs. So when we arrive to the target area, -2 is already just above “bingo fuel”. I had -2 this time engage targets first, lo and behold he fires both Mavericks and got to 2 bomb passes before he says “bingo fuel” then disengages. I tell him to “to go tanker” and complies. Then we return back to target area to use up the leftover weapons. Then -2 completely refuses to engage with two CBUs left. I then give up and proceed to some bandits. Again I tell him to engage bandits. “2, unable.” Pretty clear it has to do with when he gets bingo fuel. He will engage before bingo, won’t engage after bingo is reached (even if you refuel). Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with AI attacking ground targets with canister bombs? I didn’t have this issue before the last update (11/23). Funny thing is he will attack using Mavericks, but once that’s exhausted, he just orbits around the target area and runs out of fuel. If I give him the attack ground target command again, refuses to attack again. He also doesn’t attack bogeys either after using Mavericks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If that’s the case, then why didn’t they acknowledge my bug post? [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’m glad I’m not the only one finding this annoying. I put in a bug post about this and they quickly moved it into the “wish list” without any explanation as to why ED thinks it isn’t a bug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Stabilator? Oh wow! Thanks Ramsay. Umm where to start? Oh first, poor choice of words on my part. I meant when the jet lifts off the ground on its own. In my experience down -2 on stab, it didn’t. I had to yank it off the ground. The first attempt I tried it by the book, it wouldn’t lift off so I pulled back then quickly let go and that’s when the PIO down the runway occurred. After that, I made another attempt and just left the aft stick in and let it climb more, but then I started doing oscillations just at altitude until trimmed out, which didn’t seem right to me. I didn’t realize the noz angle is wrong on vrest. I’ve taken note on that. But if that’s the case, wouldn’t the jet lift off easier if I am supposed to do 55 but do 60 instead at nras? As far as the clean up phase after TO, I do the same. Control climb rate with noz angle to 25. Then flaps auto, noz angle zero, water off, Sto stop stowed, throttle below max continuous. Addendum: I always do 10 degree noz for takeoff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

In Flight Refueling. Dying of frustration.
Eagle7907 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in AV-8B N/A
In Flight Refueling. Dying of frustration. Don’t be afraid to once you contact, move forward slightly to give yourself wiggle room so you don’t disconnect yourself. I do that all the time. Better than fighting the constant contact, disconnect, etc. I do this even on the hornet. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -

Stabilator? Okay. Last time I did that, the jet just bounced down the runway and eventually broke. When I don’t put in the -2 stab, it does exactly as you describe without any input. So, again I’m confused and wondering what I am doing wrong. I even use the VREST data to determine NRAS and noz angle. Use STO flaps. Most of the time I do dry TO unless I absolutely have to do wet. Not the editor, it’s the created presets. To different things. The create fast mission uses those presets too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I think it’s a sim wide bug. Doesn’t work for Hornet and Hog either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I am still very confused about this. When I actually do the -2 trim I can barely rotate off the ground at the nras. Once I am able to get it off the ground it’s a constant battle to clean up to wingborne flight and trim out the forces. Is this really the correct behavior for the sim? Please correct me if you think I am doing something wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

F-18 Altimeter settings Lowest I’ve seen not including a hurricane or tropical storm is 29.40-.50 and as high as 30.30-.40. Beyond those limits is really abnormal. Remember, the wx in the sim should also affect the engine performance as well. That’s why I never use the presets. Not realistic, hinders the awesomeness. Addendum: just noticed the analysis posted. Doing the conversion the lowest low is 29.29. Highest high is 30.33. I remember seeing a fast mission generate a pressure between 28 and 29 inches. Winds were normal, no thunderstorms, granted there was rain. Just seemed inaccurate. Pressure that low should be tropical storm. Hurricanes get really low, and would definitely be evident in the sim if done correctly. Lowest recorded was 26 to 27 inches! Category 5 of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

F-18 Altimeter settings I’ve notice the wx presets in the sim isn’t well designed. For example, create a fast mission with rain and you get a pressure of 29.12, precipitation with a few clouds. Not even broken ceilings. Sorry, but I’ve never seen a pressure that low in the northern hemisphere on a typical day. Sure you may find that in the eye of a hurricane/typhoon, but that’s not realistic in any standpoint for what we use the sim for. I personally stay away from those presets. Just make it yourself. Sorry to bring up an old thread, but do we currently have the means to adjust the altitude for the pull up cue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

What can the F/A-18 do that is feature-complete?

What can the F/A-18 do that is feature-complete? I found that out the hard way. Wasted an evening going over and over figuring out why they would not guide to laser spot. lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Would you fly Civilian/military cargo plane in DCS? Adapting the C-130... I don’t think I would enjoy it THAT much. However, for the sake of mission building, I think the cargo carriers need to further their abilities to do air drops in DCS. I’ve made a thread asking about this two months ago, and it still sits. I don’t know about how other missions people make, but I rarely use cargo/bomber units just because they are only useful for close escort type missions. Sure, they are entertaining. But that’s the only use as of now. Cargos don’t really affect the tactical aspect of the map in any way. There are ways around it (plane flies over trigger, ground units spawn), but the unit as is programmed doesn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Now that DCS is further evolved into a naval strike operations. It would help to have more different naval ships available. We need more US ships like landing craft, supply ships, etc. Would be great to complete an actual carrier group or amphibious group since the Harrier is present also if there are plans to add more player choppers. Seems like blue side navy is well out numbered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

That’s true. Good point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Also, it could be the other way too. If you use the model of an F18. That model may not be the correct length. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

IR Cooling Wags, thanks for the response, but then what instance would we use it? If the automatic means faulted? Is that even simulated yet? Will it in the future? My curiosity is running full steam on the switch that never gets switched. ;) Also, if it is meant to be a redundant way to activate cooling, why isn’t it labeled or indicated as such? Seems weird that everything that is used for backup redundancy has yellow hashes or some sort of “don’t use this unless you mean it” labeling protections. Just a thought. IR Cooling That’s exactly what I am looking for. Is there a benefit/example as to when you would use it. But also wasn’t sure if it’s tied to all IR seekers (IR mavs, T-pods, etc) which it isn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
