  1. Impressive!!! Thanks for sharing your videos ;)
  2. ROFLMAO, at this rate the community modders will make LOFC look better than BS! Nice work, have got your work in progress installed and it does look great ;)
  3. Nice work mate, rep inbound ;) Edit: Stupid forum wont let me, says I need to spread some reputation around more before I can give you another rep...like I'm easy like that, puh! I don't give my reps to just anyone! Anyways, rep in the bag as and when the retarded forum will let me give you it.
  4. ROFL, nice one Poko, nice one! I concur and BGP's comment about a "hopeful '07 release" makes me think we're more realistically looking at '08...'tis just the way development goes but I, of course, would be happily proved wrong. There's lots coming out November time to tide us all over though I guess, depending on peoples interests etc, to name a few: Crysis Quake Wars Supreme Commander Forged Alliance Call of Duty 4 Now if those don't waste some time we'd otherwise be tapping our fingers impatiently waiting for LOBS I don't know what will, and I'm sure when it eventually arrives the fidelity will blow our minds..and hopefully the ME will be as useful as we all want it to be (triggered events etc). Anyone know if LOBS will have variable weather at all, or will the weather stay as per what you set it at mission start? Would be quite...er..."cool"...to start in nice weather but end up having to attack in poor weather and stuff like that...adds to the unpredictability for those having to fly it ;)
  5. Nice work Colt, I know how much time and effort it takes to to make skins for the Frogs so...rep inbound ;)
  6. Damn that looks fantastic and, given I spend most of my time too close to the ground, at least I can now enjoy the scenery ;) rep inbound for the effort, another pending when you release it!
  7. Now THAT is a nice find, unique!
  8. Christ its like a whole new game...how can I make my game look that good? Can you post your gfx settings, inc. settings for teka's trees mod and stuff? I have a E6600 o/c to 3Ghz and Gforce 8800GTX so, running it should be no problem ;) Thanks in advance, wish I spotted this thread earlier :(
  9. LOL, yeah, she's a bitch when fully loaded, the T is worst of course. I know exactly what you mean re: fumbling/"fat" fingers when under pressure, but I have a tip for you....:) In the Su-25 (plain "vanilla" frog) I don't move the laser pipper over the target and try to lock it "spot on", I actually prefer to move the pipper to the bottom of the HUD glass (ok, we'll call it a HUD anyways) and then I actually steer the a/c about (really small movements) until the pipper kinda crosses over the target, and then I "lock it"...that way I just need to press one button to ground stabilise the pipper rather than fanny about moving the cursor and locking it. Its a similar technique used in rifle shooting...you don't try to maintain a perfect aim on target with the gunsight, you work to keep it steady enough so when the sight passes "through" the target you pull the trigger...with a small rate of "pass through" and a gentle trigger pull, you'll get a good shot. I use the same technique in field archery ;) In the Su-25T I use a different technique to quickly "lock" a target, which is to turn the TV pod on, get the cursor close enough to the target, then I zoom in one setting and move it closer...cos the higher the zoom magnification the more "sensitive" (less-wild movements) the cursor does. I find with practice I can easily lock a target with 3-5 seconds of identifying it (when I say "ID" what I really mean is...thats the "thing" I'm gonna fire on! Whether its friend or foe is a question for the debrief screen ;)). The further away I am from the target dictates which zoom level I use to better control the sometimes odd nature of the pipper speed. Anyways, thats how I do it, hope it helps or gives you something to try. I'm happy to post a track of the technique I use in the vanilla if needed. Brew.
  10. Good suggestion Whiskey Romeo. To the OP: you can also "delay" when the helos spawn...so using that in conjunction with Whiskey's tip you can perhaps "better" simulate a FARP (take-off times and such) The whole Mission Editor (ME) in lomac needs a radical overhaul, I won't even bother to list what I believe are all its limitations. It is a pain in the neck re: statics, the fact you have to put them in one at a time (sigh), the fact you have to amend the "heading" of each individual sodding vehicle in a convoy/group to face a specific direction etc etc Ooops, I said I wasn't going to list my pet peeves. Aaaaaanyway, lets hope BS brings a radically improved and useful ME. The editor FC shipped with was fine in the beginning, but as soon as you want to do more complex or interesting missions, triggered or sequenced events, or just a large mission for an online server...it shows its limitations very quickly. Good luck with your missions and I hope you enjoy lomac as much as well all do...and we do enjoy it, despite the bitching on these forums! (I've spent well over £3500 on this "hobby" so far so...I guess I'm an addict!) Brew
  11. Hi Ramstein, Thanks for the reply. I think Ironhand got it spot on, will do some testing just to be sure. If you're dipping your toe in the water with the Frogs, do persist, its worth it. The stock missions/campaigns that come with FC are pretty straightforward...now! When it first came out they were challenging but having flown the Frog for 2 years or more, its now a bigger challenge to make an entertaining mission for the squad without it being ridiculous (like several Hawks/Patriots etc etc). Thanks for the input though, and keep at it with the Frogs, they're very rewarding when you can use them right ;) Brew
  12. Hi Ironhand That sounds like the one! How strange. Oh well, there were some nice possibilities there for a mission, nice outlying hills as cover from SAMs, city buildings as protection for a (very) low egress etc. Thanks muchly for prompt and spot on reply, rep inbound. Brew
  13. Hi Ironhand, The airfield is Novorosisk (or however its spelt), is that the bugged airfield?
  14. I have made a mission to attack an airfield and the problem we've had is that in both the 25T AND the 25, if you try to ground-stabilise/lock a target at the airfield or a big cluster of vehciles nearby, the tv pod/laser refuses to lock. However, just "outside" of the airfield and group of vehicles, or single vehicles outside of those localities, the laser designation/lock works as advertised. All six 504 pilots experienced the same problem. Anyone got any ideas or recollection of why the functionality of laser lock/ground stabilising is adversely affected like this? Have I accidentally set a setting I shouldn't have...or unset something I shouldnt have? Thanks in advance for any help. I've recently installed LO:FC so, it shouldnt be affected by "mods" and stuff. I can post a track if required. Brew.
  15. LOL, nicely edited from the original reply. I'm sure you fly A2G as often as I fly A2A (extremely rarely) with a relative proficiency to match. I don't care to think how many hours I've accrued in the Frog (nor does the missus come to that...apparently she's a "computer widow") but suffice to say I think its sufficient to have come to a fair conclusion as to the "fairness" of ECM, how its employed, and what it takes/is possible to delay the enemy fighter from its kill. Obviously getting in to a pissing contest is pointless so perhaps we'll agree to disagree.
  16. Try flying an A2G a/c and we'll see if you revise your opinion. When your attacker has 6-8 chances to attack you, twice the speed, and this new fangled thing called radar which allows him to "see" you from 50km away...you'll be doing the best you can to get on his nerves as well ;)
  17. As a Frog pilot I will turn my jammer on and off manually (if he locks me, jammer on, if he locks me again, jammer off...rinse and repeat) to irritate the hell out of the fighter pilot trying to HOJ me...the theory being that he keeps having to re-acquire me from normal lock to HOJ. Obviously in an a/c as slow as a Frog its generally only a matter of time before he gets close enough to kill me anyway but...the hope is some friendly fighters get close enough to take care of him before I die. If that's "improper use" of the ECM well...I think we've had that discussed to death in another thread. However: Rule #1: ECM is not part of the start-up procedure (but the IR jammer in a Frog is!) Rule #2: ECM is a big "come shoot me" sign if you are a solo a/c operating on your own. As a co-ordinated flight, it can be a very useful...tool.
  18. Rog, the default is 1.3333 (4:3 ratio) but it would need changing for any widescreen res (16:9 or 16:10)
  19. I only have it set to 1024x768, but have got used to and am now happy with the "stretch". My primary screen is a Dell 24" @ 1900x1200, my secondary which I use for LO:FC is a Samsung 40" HDTV @ 1920x1080. I run LO:FC @ 1024x768 as it seems the best compromise between resolutions the HDTV can do (they don't like many "intermediary" resolutions). What about yourself?
  20. Anyone know the settings for a resolution of 1920x1080? I tried an aspect of 1.77777777778 but LO just crashes :( Any help getting my HDTV working at its best res would be fantastic, thanks in advance.
  21. LOL, nice one Olgerd, 10/10 agree - hee hee
  22. Boberro: (1) Taxi at <30kph and only 15-20kph for corners...don't bust the nose-wheel. (2) Don't bank the aircraft at take-off until the gear is FULLY UP...this is what screws the artificial horizon. A nice gentle climb out in-line with the runway, no banking ok? ;) (3) As Viper said, ensure your payload is symmetrical...very important. (4) Make sure you aren't accidentally changing trim settings or activating an auto-pilot mode...as dumb as that sounds, and it is, I did this occasionally when I first created my HOTAS profile...I only did it twice ("level" flight on TO and I fought the stick thereafter), so do a quick check just in case ;) Thats all from me, the only thing to add is treat her gentle, the 'T' is a pig to fly aggressively, the Vanilla less so but....they ain't fighters bud ;)
  23. @ Avimus: Ahem, it wasn't a whine, simply a question. Perhaps its the air being thinner...all the way up there on the moral high ground...that must have got you confused huh? Everyone else: Thanks for the prompt, constructive and informative responses. I'll be flying the BS in whatever guise it takes...am just thinking as far in advance as possible for all the training and multiplayer missions etc, as the helo will fall under the auspices of the Bomber Wing which, as the CO, means I need to consider some "joined up" scenarios with Frog drivers as well as many other things.
  24. Sorry to resurrect this old thread but.....(ok, I'm not the least bit sorry)... Although its 2 years ago now this thread mentions that BS is not night-capable (has NVG etc but no night-attack capability with Mercury pod or similar)... Now that we are 2 years on...and so are the actual BS prototypes....will the BS being modelled be night-attack capable or just the day-time version? Thanks in advance of anyone (ED/testers) are allowed to say.
