  1. I wish you'd work on your vanilla template instead ;)
  2. Hi Kula, Ah, the 169th server...well, thats a bit different from most servers, and I guess a 169th pilot might want to correct me but.... The missions on 169th are "objective based", rather than simply an "environment with targets" which is what most other servers are like (504 included)....so this months objective is to eliminate the other sides carrier group...which the 504 and 44th did last weekend (w00t). Now, on this mission specifically, there are (in the region of) 40 SAM systems per side (red and blue) protecting all the feet-dry ingress routes, particular densities around Bullseye (Mt Cougar) etc. Personally I quite like the idea of this type of server mission, as it forces each side to work as a team, and avoids the usual "air-quake" scenario we see on other servers (504 included) where there might happen to be 10 pilots on each side....but in reality there are probably 6 teams...cos only a couple per side are actually working co-operatively to kill targets etc. So....the 169th mission is good in that if you want to have a chance of success...you need to work with the people on your side, as a team, and co-ordinate against air threats, while working with your A2G guys to eliminate SAMS etc. The mission was to enticing that the 504 and the 44th got together 16 pilots to eliminate the enemy carrier group and, as a bomber pilot (Su25T), let me tell you it was hard work because: a) We couldn't take a direct route to target cos of air/ground threats so we took a long way round. b) Flight was a 400km, 1 hour ingress to target c) the Moscow can intercept ALL missiles a SINGLE frog can throw at it....so we used FOUR frogs all firing in unison to swamp the Moscow. d) Final stages of ingress were at <20metres at 600kmh+ e) We landed at a "conveniently nearby" airfield and only had 300kg of fuel left at wheels down (having started with 3750kg) f) You're fighter cover needs to really have its act together....which they did. I had a real blast cos I gunzoed two Su-33s in my Frog...hee-hee. Anyways, that's why the 169th server is SAM-heavy...because the type of server/mission it is is "objective based", not "an environment in which to play". I don't think the 169th realistically expect the mission to be "completed", but expect the mission to last some time...I know I would, given how much effort it takes to create the dang things in the first place. Kudos to the 169th for the effort in putting the mission together, nicely designed, requires a very different approach to multi-play rather than the usual take-off > fly direct to enemy > splash a few > get splashed > respawn. I would say though, that I wouldn't dream of going on the 169th server as a solo! I would always want to hook-up with someone on TS, whether A2A or A2G...cos solo is just gonna get you killed quick...as you avoid a SAM, someone will launch at you....to evade a A2A missile...a SAM (or 5) will get you. All good fun, thats my two cents (or 5 dollars?) anyways.
  3. Which server(s) you been flying on? The vvs504 "air to air" server is actually mixed A2A and A2G, so expect some decent air defenses to keep you glory-hunting fighter jockies honest...and high :D Remember NOE is OUR territory (bombers), come down in the weeds with us....we get lots of unwelcome attention down low...but us bombers do make history ;) Seriously though, what servers do you experience this the most?
  4. Hi Sailor (oo-er missus), I'd be happy to show you the ropes in the T if you like....do you fly on the 504 Air-to-Air or Air-to-Ground servers at all? I can be found loitering on the 504 A2G server most weekends...and will also be on the 504 TeamSpeak server also...if you want to hook up I'd be happy to fly wing etc....or can organise a 1:1 training flight as I already have missions made for 504 training and our pilot exchange program. Since I don't know where you're from....are you comfortable speaking English? I'm not talented enough to be bi-lingual, in fact some would say even my english isn't that great ;) Anyways, the offer is there, I'm usually around during the weekends between 2000zulu and 0000zulu (or 2100 until 0100 british summer time....cos I'm a Brit ;)) Brewber out. EDIT: Are you using my TouchBuddy profile for Su-25T? If so, it might make training even easier, although I assume you're familiar with the necessary A/C systems and associated key commands...if not, no worries, it just requires a different teaching style.
  5. Hi Guard, For reference, the allowable payloads on our servers can be seen here: http://www.vvs504.co.uk/squadforum/showthread.php?t=2762 Good to know you fly on our server...I'll be the target in a 'T'...and I'm real glad to hear you find us 'T's hard to shoot down :D
  6. I wouldn't want to be a "simple member"...I'd rather be a "strong member"...tee-hee hee :D Sorry, couldn't resist...I know, I'm taking medication for my sense of humour.
  7. Damn, someone was actually listening to me on TS.....(must be careful in future...yeah right). I can either speak or fly, not both, so I get easily confused when trying to communicate and engage targets...in the same way as my BRA call gets confused. Hammer 1: Hammer 1, 2 say BRA to IP Hammer 2: 2, BRA is 165 for....er...(crap, whats my range)....call it 50 clicks....er....roughly angels 2.5...(oops, moved the stick)...nope, make that angels 2 now...er.....(click). Hammer 1: Roger 2, 1 copies (sigh) I tell you, 504 Bomber Wing brevity code is something to behold (now waiting for Zorlac to post his recollections ;)).
  8. What Rugg said :D You will collapse under the pressure and your wife will make you pay for the rest of your life...your RL that is, not just your virtual one ;) You know you want one....they're fab :D
  9. Hi All, For any of you who like/want my TB profile, its available for download. Go to the URL below: http://touch-buddy.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1207#post1207 I am available for questions but having only had TB for about 4 days so far...I am not an expert ;) Enjoy! Brewber out.
  10. Hi All, I've had TB for a few days now...having held off for as long as I (a man with no will power) can do. This is such a cool piece of kit (kudos to <504>Zorlac) I just had to show off that I've got one, I made a profile and it actually works...even a simpleton like me can do it...and I used notepad to create my profile :D http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbsetupclose8hg.jpg http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbsetupfar23eg.jpg http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbsetupfar6kq.jpg And my TB profile looks like this (resized down for ease of bandwidth): http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbtabprog3ro.jpg http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbtabmech1za.jpg http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tbtabcombat7zd.jpg I wholeheartedly suggest having this, it is just too useful, especially for having at the touch of a button the commands you rarely use so never remember the key combination - it can be used for any game, is under constant development....I've already added one thing to Zorlacs development list ;) Hope you like them - if you want a copy of my profile then just PM me. I'm afraid I only have one for LOMAC at the moment.
  11. Hi Deno, Do you have a preference as to what aircraft you fly? You're obviously welcome at the 504 server on Hyperlobby and, if you like Russian A/C, then I'll be happy to fly with you for a while til you find your feet. The 504 squad fly Russian A/C and I myself exclusively fly the Frogfoot....unless I'm getting frustrated and I jump in a fighter ;) Would be happy to see you on the server and Teamspeak....just ask any 504 member questions, they're always happy to help and a good bunch of guys (...mad in the head :music_whistling: but a good bunch of guys). See you online :)
  12. I wonder if the audio in BS external views captures the "wocka wocka wocka" of rotor blades? Hope so...though not the most important feature of BS obviously ;)
  13. Hi Solstice, If you want to ensure LOMAC runs on a single core....use a little app called "Procaff" (search for it in google) - basically its an exe file that sits in the game directory....you then edit the "target" properties in your desktop shortcut (as per instructions on Procaff readme.txt) and you will then properly be running LOMAC with a single core (be that core 1 or core 2, your choice). FYI, LOMAC runs fine using both cores when OFFLINE.....but online you need to set affinity to a single core - dunno why, you just do. Any windows task manager affinity thing does not remember settings, thats why procaff is better. As for everyone else's suggestions, do reinstall vid card drivers and reinstall LOMAC (always worth a go)....good luck, hope it works out for ya. Brewber out.
  14. Well, I already got an X2 4400 so I'll be updating drivers etc when they're available....I currently use procaff to put LOMAC on one CPU...which still gives me 20-50fps online and 35-50fps offline (I run at 1024x768 cos I use a projector, 2QxAA and 16xAF). I'll be happy with any boosts in performance I can get...and for free ;)
  15. yeah, i get this as well tonight. EDIT: I just reinstalled it from scratch...seemed to activate ok after a couple of gos...I dunno
  16. Hi Brit, Magic, thanks for finding that, I havent seen it before. Man, strange isnt it...I wouldn't expect it to have been particularly stable.
  17. Hi Dynamo, Yeah, I would prefer to train aerobatics in the T, but most of the 504 ppl interested in flying "aero" are fighters...and the Su27 is the easiest to learn in...and tbh, some of us (me) are really learning. I think I can fly a pretty good close formation in T, compared to the 27, but its fun and requires a huge amount of concentration. If the 25T aerobatics team gets going again, I might mutiny and join Wolverine (;)), although Breakshot (our lead 27) might be upset (although, he's seen me flying...he might be glad if I desert?). Anyways, when ur back up and running and if we're all still up to it, we'd be glad to have you along...you know you want to be in the 504 really....everybody does :D
  18. Is it just me, or is the plan-form of that A/C similar to the Saab Draken? http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/draken.htm I always loved the shape of Saab Draken and Viggen....and the Viggens can take-off on a six-pence.(or is that a quarter for other nations?) Anyone got a photo of the Tomcat with odd wings? I aint seen that.
  19. Hi Tito, Yeah, I used to just fly Su25/25T...but since some of us in the 504 started an aerobatics training, I've been enjoying the Su27....amazing how much concentration it takes to fly formation...no dropping bombs, no afterburners, no payload...just flying with my lead's wingtip light nice and big in my 10oclock...kinda fun ;), and thats even with SFM. I'm sure BS will be alot of fun, and Tank Killers with an AFM-coded A-10 should be really good...I currently find the A-10 just too easy to fly/fight, which isnt the fault of the sim per se...its more that Fairchild got it right in terms of avionics & flight model, its low-pilot workload to fly and fight..which is perfect for RL pilots...just much less of a challenge (i.e. enjoyment, for me) in game. I guess these might be my epitaph when BS comes out, lol :D I'm a closet rotorhead at heart, although the last helo sim I played was Comanche 3 (Comanche 4 was a steaming pile of arcade poo), so I'm really looking forward to BS, in whatever shape it arrives...Im also hoping for some tweaks to the mission editor (as I make a few missions for the 504 to play)..but I aint holding my breath. Anyways, may be I'll see you on one of the servers you listed..I'll have to make some time to pop in and have a go...the guns only server sounds like great fun (i love gunzo fights, especially in Su25...no radar assistance!). catch ya later.
  20. Hi Dynamo...how's it going? Been a while since I seen you on our server (hope your the same Dynamo...otherwise ). I suspect (and Im sure he'll respond soon) Wolverine referred to CBU-97s when offline....or (whatever your version of our) RBKs online. I assume the CBU-97s are a bigger version of smaller cluster bombs you normally carry?
  21. Hi AirTito, Sorry for my delayed reply, been away for a few days. Anyways... No, I don't intentionally fly my Frog to kill Hogs (oh alright, except on one map on 504 server :D), but that wasn't my point or issue, either in my original post or my first reply to you. My initial post was simply whether a BS pilot has a human opponent in a rotor A/C...whether appropriate or not. My reason for initially asking that wasn't related to a US chopper being a target per se...but immersiveness in the battlefield...with no enemy rotor A/C...it would feel like me flying on my own just killing ground targets (and waiting to get smacked by an Eagle driver...grrr) - which would be a shame...and very similar to offline play. However, feel free to do a few kamikaze missions...they can be an interesting diversion :D (504 have recently started a 504 air display training....and thats like kamikaze with my flying :joystick: ). Agreed/true...and nor the hell do I...unless our airfield is (or will be) vulched...then I will launch my frog against any incoming A/C. Yes, this is suicide, but its just a game and helps my online team out (i.e. lets my fighters take-off while stupid blues are hunting me :music_whistling: ). I fully expect BS to be in several coalitions, just to allow this scenario. (I do mostly fly on 504 server...I've tried a few others but none of them are as much fun for me...although I like the 44th's and a Russian one whose name I cant remember atm.) Like I said, I won't deliberately fly BS to attack other helos...but I don't consider splashing enemy helos as "meaningless"...in the same way as I don't consider a Flanker dropping iron "meaningless"...it has the capability...therefore it can be used (not should, just can). My umbrage at your initial post was your dismissal of me (us?), a bomber pilot, and my willingness/satisfaction/purpose of striking targets that may or may not be "natural" to the A/C I fly...nothing more, nothing less. I don't intentionally fly my Frog to kill Hogs BUT....I will intentionally look for them over the battlefield while I am striking targets...so I can protect our ground assets (killing Hogs with a vikr is sooooo funny...and my r-60s bouncing off a Hog is so NOT funny  ) Anyways, I guess we've both said our bit....now I'll go and take my HRT and stop being a whining over-sensitive woman.
  22. Hi Alpha, Sorry I didnt respond sooner...been away a few days. Aaaanyways... I dont have an argument for or against a US helicopter...my original post simlply considered the scenario of BS pilots having no direct human opposition when playing online....whether the opposition is natural or appropriate is not a question either...just that a BS pilots online experience might not be that different from offline...other than Teamspeak and getting fragged by every mother-loving SOB in a fighter ;) So, originally I was simply asking a question, not stating a preference. As far as AirTito's (?) post, I took umbrage at his/her attitude that just because Hogs & Frogs or BS & AH64s are not natural or intended opposition, as a bomber pilot I enjoy (and revel) in downing fighters or anything else....because its really funny for a Frog to down a fighter AND....a Hog/Frog dogfight is cracking good fun...as I hope most Hog pilots would agree (damn you all, my R-60's just bounce off you Hogs :() Whilst LO is a "simulator"...it is ultimately just a "high fidelity" game...so we all do things in the sim that in RL would be inappropriate/wholly suicidal (like yanking and banking in a fully-laden Frog...for a start). LOL, nope, not suggesting that. I suspect in BS I will happy playing against AI...just as I am in FC, since I essentially do the same thing in my Frog. I'm not for/against a US helo...or any other "human" participant, I was just originally asking the question and subsequently responding to AirTito's assumptive post about us Hog/Frog pilots. Thanks for responding though, and sorry for my late reply.
  23. Did you use CBUs OR RBKs? Last night I attacked an "MSB" (75 vehicles) with 6xRBK250 and a rack of Vikr...I scored 52 kills...about 10 kills per RBK dropped. Summary: They ain't porked for me....RBKs were dropped in combinations of anywhere from 2000m - 300m altitude, speeds of 400kph - 700kph, and angle of "dive" anywhere between 20metres/second to 40metres/second. Do you have tracks of this "bug"? Try a test.....put 10 M818 trucks (soft) on a road, stationary and in a straight line....now practise dropping clusters on them....if you're run in is good, you will only need 2 RBK250s (or CBUs I guess) to wipe out all 10 vehicles....drop your bombs as singletons...not in pairs! Good luck, hope you get the prob solved, as I think this is either "user error" (edit: usually is for me...*sigh*) OR....your LO install is pooched and you should re-install just in case. EDIT: Just remembered, I rarely fly the A-10 but...I do recall when dropping clusters that the fall line of your bomb needs to be running right through your target convoy....then your CBU will be really effective...if its just a touch off, effectiveness is much reduced. The RBKs seeem (to me) to be less sensitive to this). As I said, I very rarely fly anything other than Su25/25T/27...so might be worth a few tests.
