Will LOBS support Widescreen?
brewber19 replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
and don't forget WS doesn't work properly for Su25T due to "hardcoded" settings...so lets hope BS is different...i.e. configurable, at least via text edits etc. -

LOL, pop-ups for me too....or more likely, a bloody huge macro assigned in TouchBuddy so I don't have to remember anything at all :D I'm really looking forward to BS, as are alot of others I'm sure. I think the ABRIS could be a barrel of laughs for more immersive missions...yup, looking forward to its completion. I think the only things I'm not looking forward to about BS is (1) that its probably just as tedious to do skins for it as the other A/C and (2) every fast jet mutha* will be gunning for helos for the first few weeks! You know you will :( -
In addition to all of the above, I would like the ability for a "third coalition"....not neutral, I mean a third, "armed, coalition. This, in combination with all of the above would make for some excellent scenarios... Imagine, 2 coalitions at war fighting to capture control skies/territory, with a "3rd coalition" hostile to the other 2...i.e. sovereign territory of another neighbour country. In this we would make our virtual pilots much more conscious of the airspace they use, not just hot-dog around the entire sky. Also, on mud-moving missions, you could plan ingress routes close to the 3rd coalition, to help keep "enemy" coalition fighter-sweep at arms length. You could also have Bombers clearing "corridors" through enemy territory and not simply egress via any route, they would have to continue clearing an egress corridor or come out the way they went in. The scenarios and options are endless, especially if you combine with simple If/Then/And/Or logic. The ME is one of the weakest areas of this sim, as it stifles creativity and longevity. For bomber pilots, it can get quite dull to simply eradicate dumb ground targets for absolutely no purpose....it makes no difference if you destroy them or not, and who cares about in-game scores! (sigh) May be in "Tank Killers" they might do a decent ME...may be the project after that. Of course by then I'll be 40-something with kids etc and no time to play :( Anyways, thats my wish-list.

Nice job guys ;) really sweet, finally the vanilla can look its best , reps inbound. Now all we need is ED to make adding skins to LO as easy as IL2 ;)
-
LOL, and whenever it does get released, this board will suddenly be full of "mwhaaa, ED didn't fix the XYZ on MY airplane mhwaaaaaa :(" There's just no winning...its a wonder, and I'm eternally grateful, that they continue....only the flight sim community can bitch and whine quite as much as we do (and yeah, I include myself of course). Thank god they haven't gone to the "dark side" of consoles or FPS games (which I assume is where the money is?) I'm really looking forward to BS, and having missions with BS where helos can call in Frog CAS support etc, and getting to grips with the BS itself. Until then, I continue to enjoy immensely the Su-25 and 25T (although I'm really keen to get the high-res/poly model for the vanilla). It'll be ready when its ready I guess...you never know, its still 3 weeks til Xmas and I heard Santa has a hard-on for flight-sims :D

We want KH-41 definitly modelled in BS?
brewber19 replied to Ardillita's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hmmm, on that premise....where is my UBER-Frog? I want the UTG variant, I want to kill ships with massive missiles, I want to land on carriers etc, I want to....blah blah. Seriously, I would actually be interested in an uber-frog on that premise BUT.... (1) There are limitations to all the things ED can model, and model correctly, so why spend time modelling something used once versus something in "serial production"/"operational service" (i.e. used more than once). (2) Don't forget that the US must also have scenarios where ONE missile test-fired from ONE a/c etc etc...so can you imagine what a-10s etc would suddenly be carrying? (3) As much as I would love extra kit for my Frog, to give me more options in mission variety etc for the squad and server missions, the limitations of the "mission editor" are, for me (!), a bigger priority... an "editor" where...you can't even apply simple if/then login! That's fundamental to the longevity of a sim, the ability to create varied scenarios....I tried to design a mission where 2 ships had "landed resources" with another 4 ships on the way...what I wanted to happen was have my Bomber Wing tackle the 4 ship convoy to prevent more "resources" from being landed...then attack the shore....but no, no logic like "if X gets to here, do Y"...so, a dull mission with a few ships, no incentive to get the job done in a predefined time etc...and yeah, I could have used "timings" to make units appear on shore but...what if my guys had sunk all the ships? Ah, magic teleportation of units to shore! (sigh), Sorry, off-topic I guess. Back on topic...I don't think that's a realistic premise, and were it to be adopted, I don't think it would benefit the sim/game. -
I'd love a 2-seat pit as well, if only to help train recruits...its all well and good to record them a track BUT...no guarantees it plays alright for them, has no audio etc etc. What I wouldn't give for a 2-seat pit (no, I'm not reinstalling 1.02) so we could much quicker teach them zero-vis landings etc.

hee hee, nice purchase Leafer....fingers crossed for you...my last rig was a P4 3.2Ghz with 2gb of ram and a GF6800....and it still stuttered. My current rig is an AMD X2 4400 with 2gb of ram and a GF7900GT.....and NOW its smooth ;)

I voted for Harrier vs Mig because, imho..... Harrier has never been simulated with any serious degree of fidelity Its multirole Its not space-age....its a very "hands-on" aircraft, like the Frog Classified material should be "less" of an issue compared to other options listed. It opens up interesting mission scenarios Its one of my favourite aircraft (yup, I'm a Brit)I'd like the Jaguar and Tornado as well but...that'll never happen, its not a "RAF" sim afterall ;) My second choice, if I were allowed one, would be the F18/Mig29K. I'll get back in my box now, crashing my Frog in to mountains etc, waiting to do the same in BS ;)

Hi Deadman Thanks for helping, a/c numbering I know nothing about....it stretched my tiny brain to get the skin in an "installable" format!
-
i think its the "nomera.tga" file but then best person to ask is 44th_Deadman or ThomasDWeiss I guess, they'll know more about that...I don't have any issues with numbering etc cos I don't have any custom skins. IIRC the 'poison frog' messes up peoples aircraft numbering :(

Some Questions on the SU-25T
brewber19 replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Good answers Kuky, Internal fuel is 3760kg full and each wing tank is 800Kg. The best check for when to ditch tanks is as Kuky says, when your fuel gauge read 3700 or below, drop them tanks. As for range, well, it really depends on loadout, your climb rate to altitude and your altitude. We (504) have done some really long flights with the T-frog, it can be done, you just need to fly conservatively (no wild steep climbs at max throttle!). Nice to have another Frog pilot on the scene :D -
Hi Zaelu, Ah, thought this would happen cos of the way LO implements its skins (sigh). Ok, what you need to do is...in all those '.skins' files, change the 'value' for the Viggen skin to a higher number (like 1.8 or something). Then open your meint.xml file, search for the FIRST section where it lists the Viggen skin and change the 'ID' in the line below.... ...from 6 (which matches '0.6' from the .skins files) to whatever value you chose in the '.skins' files...so in my example I chose 1.8 earlier, so in here you would insert '18'... You may also need to change the CLSID....in which case just amend the last two digits so it doesn't match any other CLSID listed in the <colorschemes> section... ...next search for the SECOND section in the meint.xml file and you need to amend the CLSID here to match the number you chose when editing just above. The reason why is the first <colorschemes> section determines what skins LO recognises, and the second <colorschemes> section adds the skin reference so you can choose it in the payload screen. Rememeber there are TWO places in the meint file and that they need to match! (I always forget the second one and spend ages wondering why a skin doesnt work!). Hope this works, its kinda hard to (quickly) explain...which would be why no-one explained it to me when I asked at the start of this thread! If you get stuck give me a shout....sorry installing skins is such a pain but thats LO...why they didn't just do what IL2 does and have folders for skins I don't know....but you'll ALWAYS have a potential conflict when installing skins from the community, because its easy to have conflicting IDs :( Anyways, hope it all goes well, glad you like the skin.

Hi We have training for both experienced users who want to develop skills and fly as a team, and pilots who are either new to the Frog and are keen to learn. The key thing for any recruit and member of the 504 is positive attitude, as the skills can always be taught over time. We have training every Tuesday and Thursdays at 2100Z, and usually some extra flights at the weekend to either repeat training or do something different (like a Red Flag exercise with the 44th!). We'd be very keen to hear from anyone who is interested in the Frog so don't be shy with those applications ;)

Hi Harm, Try putting LO on to just ONE core (either core 1 or core 2)...it should remove the micropauses. I have an AMD X2 4400 and, whilst not an intel, its still a dual core and stutters in LO when trying to "load balance" across the two cores SO.....putting it to a single core removes the stutter. Try it and see how you get on...cos your other laptop that is fine is a single core....which is why LO works fine and why its not a great comparison ;) Good luck with it all. Brew. EDIT: lol, couple of people beat me to it! but yeah, put it to a single core before launching the game...I use procaff to do it ;)

Virtual angagement between squads?
brewber19 replied to Ardillita's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
@ Pilotasso - You need to pay attention and not just post a knee-jerk "your wrong" reply. Wolfie wrote: "For instance the campaign we are starting now is set in 1985 where..." Nothing to do with the supposed timeframe of lomac, its the timeframe he is choosing to base his campaign. -
Ok, I've finally done the final tweaks AND figured out how to make it modman installable etc. I've uploaded to lockonskins and lockfiles....just waiting for those sites to ok the upload. As soon as they do I'll post the links to them ;) Not long to wait now :o EDIT: Lockonskins got there first....get it from here :D

Damn, SKF beat me to it ;) There are two on lockonfiles: http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=74&min=20&orderby=titleA&show=20#cat look about half way down, thats the closest to the one in your vid I think - sweet skin ;)

I'm sure someone has already done this skin for the 27...I just can't recall who. Maybe someone like Ice has done it? Although IIRC most of his skins are monotone/dualtone. Ahk, who knows?! Maybe the person who did it will "own up" ;) You could also check http://www.lockonskins.co.uk

FS: Thrustmaster Cougar + Uber II NXT mod
brewber19 replied to dodger42's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Duuuude, why you selling up? You haven't gone and got a proper HOTAS like CH have you? :music_whistling::clap: :punk: -
LOL, sorry for the delay, work getting in the way etc. I need to make some tweaks to the skin (remove the 504 logo for a start!) and when done I'll make a post in this thread and normal forum. Might be 2 weeks (:music_whistling:) yet though, my job is real busy atm.

I know I'd be interested in that, from a BW perspective, and I reckon our FW would be too but its a real SOB organising enough people at decent times. If it is a go-er at some stage we'd obviously like to pair up with the 44th ;) I'd be much more interested in FW+BW inter-squad matches though, as they're far more fun when people only have "one life", can't re-arm/refuel at a whim etc - it makes for a nice tense and conservative mission where people can take pride in their victories or learn from their defeats (which in the case of a BW pilot is a regular thing cos every fecker shoots at us!) PS: Sorry for hijacking as well, I'll be dloading your movie when I get home tonight ;)

Wow, sweet skins, good job.

Hee hee, I remember that well....so much pleasure from seeing those ships sink...and a volley fire of 25MPUs from 20m by 5 Frogs was sweet :D
