Both. In multi, the person who salutes first isn't always queued first by the deck crew, thus FUBARing the whole system.

What's the procedure for a crosswind landing?
Nealius replied to Hyperlynx's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
The -1 says wings-level, crabbed during the entire landing evolution. Once main gear touches down the ARI is disconnected. Use pedals to stay aligned with runway, use aileron to prevent wing rise. Aerobrake until approximately 100kts (significantly higher in DCS). That said, I like to touchdown with a very slight wing dip into the wind, with the upwind wheel touching down first. This increases landing rollout stability in my experience. -
Arresting cables and ropes from helicopters do not have the same phyics. Nor are they the same materials.

It's bugged. Sometimes they won't remove the chocks even after selecting launch from the parking menu and saluting multiple times.

Protective coating on USN style Bombs is too shiny
Nealius replied to twistking's topic in Object Bugs
They also tend to get very dirty and grimy. They are way too glossy and white in DCS. -
Bombadier/Navigator, though from context I suspect they're referring to Bignewy here.

Either wrong name of airport or wrong location Headcorn i/o Lashenden
Nealius replied to Lau's topic in Bugs & Problems
Wrong layout for Headcorn as well. -
Not only is it not fake, it's acknowledged as an issue by Nineline.

I've had AI P-47s laden with 1000lbs of bombs and a drop tank, not jettison them, and maneuver like a Spitfire, so I'm pressing X to doubt the claim that the AI SFM is tuned to realistic energy states. It's also well documented that AI Mustangs, Jugs, and Spitfires maintain unrealistic energy in climbs making it impossible for the player to maintain formation in Reflected's campaigns.
-
Until the GFM is developed I don't think the AI will display any of the Zero's peculiarities. It should be easily escapable in a dive due to the force on the ailerons making it uncontrollable at certain speeds with which the Wildcat and Hellcat could operate fine.

Some of those on the list were to be included within the Corsair purchase, not as a separate assets pack.

What are the blue finless training Sparrow looking things that were also pictured? I've never seen those before.

missing info Gear can now break when you taxi
Nealius replied to Rebel28's topic in Bugs and Problems
Is this what causes the "unsafe" undercarriage warning at idle throttle when on the ground? I did some touch-and-go's for an hour, a couple light bounces but nothing unreasonable or stressful on the airframe, and was quite delicate with the brakes except on takeoff where I ran her up to 30 inches before releasing the brakes. Upon landing I had the "unsafe" undercarriage warning at idle but the gear was not visibly damaged and the brakes functioned normally. -
Date set to February and the mission editor won't allow temps below 10C. Current temp in Paris as of this post is -1C.

Help getting highest INS accuracy for pre-planned popups
Nealius replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
For unguided bombs CCIP is, scientifically, the most accurate way to drop bombs. As already explained multiple times in this thread, the F-16's VIPCCRP/VRPCCRP>CCIP flow and the OA1/2 HUD symbology are specifically designed for pinpoint popup strikes using unguided bombs, to which the USAF specifically trained all the way up to the first conventional strikes in Desert Storm. -
Why the F-35 is a good thing concerning Warbirds
Nealius replied to aldox's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
What DCS started off as has no relevance, in my opinion. DCS started off as an arcade, less-than-FC3-level fidelity Su-27 game in the 90s. It has gone through multiple evolutions since then. -
Why the F-35 is a good thing concerning Warbirds
Nealius replied to aldox's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Logically, yes, and it gives me hope for the WW2 side of DCS. However ED's track record with applying logic to their approach in modeling things has always been inconsistent. -
Once caught up and in formation with them I'm usually running anything from min cruise (36/2400) to max cruise (42/2400), but obviously I'm constantly adjusting throttle to maintain position. Climb is where they get away from me, as they rapidly dump speed then zoom away. I haven't tried 61/3000 in the climb yet because I've seen my temps get too close to the red line at 51/3000, convincing me to open my radiators. Honestly it's safer to be about a half-mile behind the formation anyways as the AI will laterally slide around during turns, overshoot their flightpath, then erratically correct with an opposite turn, leading to very high chances of a mid-air if the player tries to maintain position in the formation.

If it is realistic, then why haven't all modules been fitted with functioning wipers (helos, Mossie) or rain repel blowers (Phantom, Tomcat, etc.) prior to such a feature being rolled out? That's a very simple logical progression in planning.

QNH and temperature units in briefing
Nealius replied to Pyrocumulous's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Yes. Weather info in breifing is an absolute mess. It does not follow user's selected units of measure in games settings. It's missing notations. It doesn't even give hPA. Nav/Meteo wind is confusing as it should be notated "to/from" and the DCS User Manual doesn't explain which of those two winds is "to" and which is "from." -
Yes. Pull up the VIP-TO-PUP menu, select STPT 3, press 0 to enable VIP-TO-PUP, then punch in the direction and distance (degrees/nautical miles). With STPT 3 selected for navigation and in CCRP delivery mode (VIPCCRP), SOI the HUD then press TMS-right short and the targeting pod (technically your SPI I think) will cycle between STPT 3 and its VIP offset.

Help getting highest INS accuracy for pre-planned popups
Nealius replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I have not, I'm not familiar with ACCAL. I haven't tested since my last test because I'm tired of trying to report bugs to developers who think they're infallible and refuse to consider they aren't. Most of my bug reports in other modules get completely ignored or conveniently moved to "wish lists" without anyone bothering to investigate. -
It's in the Special Settings>F-14 tab. I don't recall the exact wording but it should be something to the effect of "selection via head movement."

For those who bought it individually and not as a part of the FC3 package, the value in ED miles refunded is reasonable, I think.
