  1. I have placed it on a carpet so it can be more easily moved and I don't notice any change in stability. For me it seems it's the warthog stick itself that is most important due to it's weight and the lever arm. Now if I also place the throttle quadrant on the plate:huh: I agree that I wont find anything better and the possibility to place a hotas stick lower is a must. Even with the wheel stand pro I found myself getting tired in the arm. Wonder if that's due to the sticks stiffness or the position I need to hold the arm ? The stick itself has been returned and my intention is to get the whole package or maybe I will think a little about the CH Fighterstick.
  2. Does any other throttle supply the two rotary axis you miss ?
  3. What kind of extension do you use and where do they sell it ? Where and how do you place your stick ?
  4. I'm using Track Ir 5 and the TM Hotas Warthog stick. Before the Warthog stick I used the CH Flight sim yoke and assigned its mixture axis as zoom in DCS. Now I have no free axis so for now I have assigned zoom in and zoom out to the data management switch. In the P51 Mustang this is no problem. But in the A10 (and another planes like F16 F86 too I suspect) the button is needed for the corresponding plane switch. If I would get the full package TM Throttle+Stick would there be a free axis or two way button for zoom ? I find the zoom feature rather indispensable in DCS.
  5. After watching that video I see nothing in it that I miss. But I notice that they mount the pedal plate at the far end away from the stick plate pool. I have done the opposite since I need the rudder pedals so close to me.
  6. I have purchased a Wheels Stand Pro for Hotas Warthog and have just assembled it. I experience several problems and would like to hear from other owners if they think I make some mistake or have some suggestion. First the screws that is used for fastening the footplate made contact with the floor and made some ugly marks on the floor. The stand does not feel stable. It can sway when I use the warthog on it. Also sometimes it's not stable on the floor. The front part can rise slightly when pulling on the stand. When not used the front part is in the way of my feet. For now I seriously consider sending it back in spite of a shipping cost that might be up to 20% of the purchase price.
  7. This was in no way meant as criticism of you . If it was perceived so I apologize:(
  8. One concern comes to my mind after seeing this pics. When you have the tube laying on the floor does not the same problem still arise as when tilted forward ? I mean the stick itself is in the horizontal position. Does this not make it lean forward by its own weight like we see when the stick attached to the plate being tiltid in the forward position ? I mailed Thrustamaster and asked if this would be a problem and they gave me this reply ' We would advise against storing the device somewhere like this for longer durations. You should know, that there are sensitive parts inside the Stick and they could get damaged, if the Joystick is leaning forward like in the video for some time. You could unscrew the handle part before storing the device, this way it's not leaning forward. You should protect the connector on the base and make an extra bag with the handle part in it.'
  9. Do you use the plate for the stick ? One idea that comes to my mind is this. Could you simply not place the stick on the plate without the screws and the simply move it away when you are noot using it ? I know the intended use is to fasten it with bundled screws but my warthog stands firm and stable on the desktop so why should it not on the stand plate ?
  10. Do you mean the removing the stick like it was on delivery ?
  11. I have seen that the stand now sells with fastener for the saitek pedals (someone commented that this was a problem for him) and that they are still working on CH rudder pedals fastener. So it seem such fastener is needed and still not available for the CH pedals which I have. If I get the stand my intention is to use the stick only adapter (for now I don't have the throttle) mainly because I would like to put the stick lower than the table would admit (had to be above my knee) Otherwise a small table for the throttle about 45 cm high does not seem difficult to find.
  12. The intended use as I understand it is that you keep the controller on the tube and push it forward to stow it away. That rises some questions, I would need to temporarily move the stand forward so the desktop don't get in the way of the stick when it is pushed forward. Then push the stand back. Is this feasible or does the stand need to stay in the same place on the floor all the time ? When the stick is in its stowed position it will be tilted forward. This will make the stick lean forward because of its weight. Could this be detrimental to the stick ?
  13. Is it also possible to mount the plate anywhere on the X axis ? Is it not a problem if it slides up and down ? I mean it need to stay in place when used. When you are not using the stick and stove it is it possible to still use the rudder pedals ? I ask since I would be interested in using both my Warthog and also my flightsim yoke at times for yoke based planes in FSX.
  14. One concern I feel is my CH Rudder pedals. First when placed on the plate at the front I get the impression that they would be to far back judging from pictures. Also can it be placed on that plate and not glide ? Or will it need to fastened ?
  15. I would like to hear from people who have used this stand I consider using it with my Thrustmaster Warthog Stick and rudder pedals.
  16. Well I can tell you that I indeed ordered a Warthog which I tried out for the first time yesterday. But I still have some time before I decide to keep it or not. The fact you describe it as smoother than the CH Fighterstick speaks for keeping it. The main reason I see for using a Fighterstick instead is that the Warthog is not particulary desktop friendly. It is so high that it obscures part of the display. The fighterstick would have an advantage here considering that it is an inch lower and also as I see it you could place the stick itself closer to the desktop edge further away fropm the monitor. My warthog stick is about 12 cm from the desktop edge.
  17. I'm getting contradictory answers regarding which one is best. Here the opinion is that the CH Fighterstick is best over at Avsim they think the Warthog clearly is a better stick. The question for me is in the first place not which one to get. But rather which one should I try first. And in this regard the most speaks for the Warthog. It would give me 45 days to test and decide if I wantr to keep it. And if I would want to return it that would be without any cost. For the CH Fighterstick I have only 14 days to decide and I would have to pay the shipping in case I would return it.
  18. I don't lack rudder pedals. A mistake not to list that I do have CH Rudder pedals Not having twist control is an advantage. Real sticks don't have them and using that twitch for rudder control is very unrealistic.
  19. I have seen some contradictory figures for this. I'm most interested in the total height of the stick. I have found out that the Thrustamster Warthog is some 28 cm high i.e to high for desktop use. In a review I think it was stated that the CH Fighterstick was 1 inches lower but on Amazon the dimension stated 10.8 inches (only 1/2 inches lower). The combatstick has been sated to be 26 cm high and from what I have heard the Fighterstick and the Combatstick should be the same size.
  20. Are you referring to the Thrustmaster or Fighterstick here ?
  21. Do you use them on a desktop or have them mounted at lower height somehow ? I don't quite understand the 'trim'. The stick is said to have only three axis. Do you actually change (trim) the physical stick position ? What is the 2 stage trigger so important for ?
  22. From a review I got the impression that the throttle was good but not the stick.
  23. I get contradictory advices. Over at avsim the opinion seem to be that the warthog is by far the better stick. Is not 16 bit resolution and a heavier stiffer stick an advantage ? I use zoom to look around in the cockpit to clearly see the instrument and switches.
  24. Where I live the CH Fighterstick cost 1500 SEK (about Us $177) and the Warthog 1600 SEK (about US $188). Note that I'm talking about the stick only without the throttle unit.
  25. First I should say what I already have. That is CH Flightsim Yoke CH Throttle quadrant Saitek Cessna trim wheel (also a MS Sidewinder Precision joystick) Track IR 5 Also this will be used on a desktop. I can't place them besides me in waist height which might be important from an ergonomic point of view. I consider complementing the Yoke with a good stick for stick based plane in DCS and FSX. So first questions can one of the stick listed below offer advantages enough to motivate spending the money ? Or could my best option be what I already have ? Did try the sidewinder to get a feel of Yoke vs Stick. The stick felt somewhat more uncomfortable with its button at higher height compared to the yoke. For a stick my research had led me to two sticks that are priced about the same. I also list he argument I think speaks for selecting that stick over the other and my current yoke. 1) Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog flightstick. Stick only. The whole package would be to expensive and also I have read that having the throttle on the desk is a very big disadvantage. + 16 bit resolution and hall effect sensors + heavy with metal base and handle 2) CH Fighterstick + recommended as best option at A2A forum by a guy who is real world P51 pilot + have read that it is less likely to break than the warthog. + has a throttle wheel which would be perfect for the zoom view function in DCS. With the warthog I would need to use an axis on CH Throttle quadrant. Would you add some + or - to my list here or maybe a 3) ? It would be interesting to hear from people who have used some or all of these controllers and what you think. I might add that I realise that the warthog is ideal for A10C (which I have) being a replica of the A10C. But I can't motivate it based on just one plane in DCS. Also will I not be very limited in that plane because I only have the stick ?
