Need some advice on the third mission
jfri replied to jfri's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign (legacy version)
Last time I did tell the wingman to engage ground targets but nothing of that seemed to happen. Also I tried using Maverick myself (since I was out of every thing else) and there is no way to find the targets with the Maverick display. I have no idea where on the ground the display are viewing. -
I'm supposed to do a patrol at 15000 ft altitude. In the mountains I get a radio call with coordinates. After going to this way point I see some damaged vehicles. I should take out some forces that are situated in a small village. Problem is that when I see the enemy they are to close to assign the SPI using the TDC. Using TGP makes it very difficult to find them (seeing them). Diving at them and using rockets results in being shoot down. How do you do this in the best way. Is it sufficient with the GBU 38 + the GBU 12 ?

Actually I have most settings maxed and that's with 2560*1440 resolution.

I was somewhat surprised to hear that 8 Gb RAM might be not quiet enough. Is the requirement bigger for 2.5 compared to 1.5 ? At any rate setting the virtual memory to system managed did solve the crashes problem at least for now.

I have Windows 10 Home CPU Haswell i-7 4770K 3.5 GHZ (OC 4.5 GHz) 8 Gb RAM NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 DCS on a Samsung SSD 840 series dcs.zip

When I started my DCS 1.58 today I was prompted that I could update to 2.5 and I did that. After this update DCS crashes as soon as I start a flight (in campaign training). Sometimes just a crash to desktop sometimes a message about DCS has stopped working and once a message about bad_module-info.

What do you think about XPlane it uses another technic blade theory ?
-
Is that not different depending of which plane you fly ? For example A2A and Realair are considered to have very realistic planes. And we do have the A2A Spitfire. Could be interesting to compare it with my newly purchased DCS Spit.
-
Do you mean additional instant mission in 2.2 ? Or are the stuff mentioned for 1.5.8 missing in 2.2 ?
-
I want to use it as a combat plane like all other planes in DCS since this is military combat oriented simulation. If I only want to fly a plane I prefer FSX or P3D which are civilian oriented sims. In spite of my concerns I did bought it before going to sleep and before the sales ended. First I thought it would be better to get the IL-2 Cliffs over Dover Blitz for flying a Spit. Also considered a german fighter but went for the Spit since it seem to have more content in form of inbuilt tutorials and mission and a campaign. I can only hope that I wont find it to be like for example the UH 1 chopper that simply was to difficult to learn (to hoover and stand still)
-
I don't have the DCS Spitfire. I'm considering buying it so I started this thread to ask before buying. The statements that the P51 is easiest to handle and the Spitfire the most difficult really makes me hesitant to buy it. Maybe I'm better of picking up a german fighter?

In other planes I have (like A10C P51 BS2 F86) they come with voiced interactive tutorials missions. And also single missions instant actions and campaign. But in this planes description in the shop nothing of this is mentioned. Does the 109 miss all these things ?

I also got the same impression. Looking at the videos that didn't look so difficult.

So the NEVADA or Normandy maps won't be required in 2.5 ?
-
Under the current DCS 2 download it is stated that 'DCS World 2 requires a terrain module. This can be either the DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Map or the DCS: Normandy 1944 Map. DCS World 2.1 will not function without one of these two maps.' So when 1.5 merges to 2.5 later this month do I have to purchase one of the above terrain modules in order to use the latest 2.5 version ?

I do have CH rudder pedals and a TM Hotas Warthog joystick & throttle. I also have the A2A Spitfire for FSX (and also the civil A2A P51) and here I don't find the Spitfire more difficult then the P51
-
First regarding early access. Is this a problem ? I mean since the current release is still in development does this mean you encounter problems you don't have with other non early access planes ? Or is more like not all features being implemented yet (like a campaign) ? Then I would like to ask how the spitfire compare to the P51 Mustang (that I have). Is it easier or more difficult to learn to fly and fight in ? Is the voiced tutorials and missions of good quality ?
-
Didn't use rudders. I tried pressing the left arrow key and then the chopper continued turning around and it was not possibly to stop that. I will try the rudder pedals next time.

In this tutorial things works as expected until I first fire a missile to the first target. But on the second target things does not work. I can't fire any more missiles from the outboard store I can have the chopper turn to the new target but the two green circles on the HUD does not overlap like in the first target. The HMS does not show a single crosshair but also two yellow circles. I can place the target reticle on the skhval over the vehicle and have a lock ( TA)

I haven't tried renaming the file since I expect the name to be the same in order for the campaign to recognize it
-
file -> save does not do anything, no messages or confirmation and does not work. I have only tried editing this Operation save Badger campaign i.e mission two.
-
When I do this i.e make changes and 'save as' overwriting existing .miz and then go to the campaign it wont even load. If I exit DCS and restart it and then try to start the campaign it loads but my changes are not there.
-
I want to edit the missions in the campaign operation save badger. I start the mission editor and makes the changes I want. In this case it is to start in the air preferable at way point one so I don't need to spend the time getting there which I have done so many times. Also I try to change the weapon load. I then try to save the edited mission. After that I can start the mission stand alone by clicking the button for starting the mission, but that doesn't seem to be part of the campaign which is my intention. If I quit the editor (after saving) and try to start the campaign either it doesn't start or it start without the changes I have tried to do

Do you also feel this is a problem when learning the BS2 ?

Yes have set cockpit language to English I think. Don't use a mod.
