Do you have the F86 Sabre ? If so how would it compare to that with regard how easy it is to fly ?
-
Compared to for example the A10-C which I find much more easy to fly than for example the F86 Sabre
-
Tutorials not being voiced is big minus for me. I already have the F86 and one thing that put me off that (at least for now) is that just keeping it on altitude was very tricky and seem just like your description of an oscillating aircraft. So the F 5E seem not easy to fly.
-
Then I think I will pass on this plane
-
Anyone else here who knows if they are voiced ? What about ordinary missions (not instant action) ? From that list I get the impression that this plane is mainly for air to air combat even though it has air to ground capacity ? Unlike for example A10 C for which the opposite is true.
-
Do you mean it's easy to learn to only fly it but difficult when it comes to combat ?
-
In order to decide if I should purchase this plane 1) How good are the training tutorials and how many are there ? Are they voiced ? 2) Is this plane easy to learn and fly ? 3) How is it compared to the F 86 Sabre. I have an impression that they seem similar.

Sometimes the plane want to roll left very strongly
jfri replied to jfri's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Not possible after the tutorials. I tried an instant action but then the problem wasn't there. It seem somewhat random when this problem surface. -

Yes have checked that. Rudder is assigned to my CH rudder pedals only and roll to my TM HOTAS Warthog joystick -

I find no settings for take off assist and auto rudder for this plane -

No. Has experienced during the tutorials covering take off landing and navigation -
Sometimes I experience that the Viggen tends to strongly roll left. To counteract this I need to to trim the stick almost as much as is possible to the right. This does not feel right. What is going on here ?

I took the opportunity to try the Hornet in free weekend offer. One thing I discovered was that for training tutorials there are only lessons about flying the plane but nothing covering the use of weapons. Will we get that in the near future ? We have it in many other modules so why not also in this plane ?

Some Problems using my TM HOTAS Warthog with Viggen
jfri replied to jfri's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
True I'm not using target sw -
I can't make full use of the switches. With a multi stage switch (for example radar altimeter) only turning it on is registered as a key press. But then turning it off don't get registered. This is not the case with for example A10C where I without problem can both turn on and off with a on off switch. Why should this then be a problem with Viggen ? Also some buttons in the cockpit does not seem to be possible to assign at all. For example the engine start button. I can assign a TM button to it but it wont work. Also I see no way to assign a controller button to take the engine out of idle. In A10C this is done with the built in throttle cutoff to idle feature. I would like to this also in Viggen.

I hear no voice in the landing tutorial. There is only text. Is something wrong here. All the previous and the next one after has audio voice. Find it strange that just one should be missing sound. EDIT The plane in question is Viggen. It's a mistake that it is not in the Viggen forum.

When doing the third tutorial lesson on taking of I am supposed to throttle up and wait until 270 km/h after which I should pull back the stick. What happens is that the plane lifts from the runway before that and then it's very difficult to control. It seem it pitch up to much and if I try to correct that with trim nose down it can easily end up pitching down to much. Also roll is prone to go on one side and is very difficult to correct. According to the lesson instructions I should not need to change any trim settings so what is wrong here ?

What do you mean by mk1 eyeball ?

This Nevada range area is a place for training. What does that mean for the campaigns taking place hear ? For example with the A10C do you select simulated weapons and no targets are destroyed ? Or does it work the same as in other areas. Everything works as for real in spite of this being an training area in real life ? Is it well spent money to get this map ?
-
But the product description says 'Extensive interactive & voiced training tutorials.' and in addition to that 'Instant action and single player missions.' Do you refer to the latter ? I was thinking on the tutorials that are found under training

I'm considering buying the Viggen now when it is on sale. I already have the A10C and have flown that many hours. So I would like to ask how is to fly and learn the Viggen if you compare with the A10C. Easier or more difficult ? How good and extensive are the interactive tutorials ? I see that it is early access, what limitations does that mean ? The A10C is mainly a ground attack plane and less suited for air to air combat. Is the Viggen mainly useful for one the types or as good for both ?

Well in this mission in this campaign I don't have any 97. And even if I had is it still not required to see the target in the TGP and lock on it ?
-
Even from the best direction this is a problems with the walley not being long enough. When descending I'm being shot down and it's still difficult to place a TDC or TGP diamond on the target.
-
In the campaign the enemy within I'm supposed to attack target in the mountains and also to stay above 17000 feet. I fail this since when I can see the targets it's almost right under me and I can't place the TDC or TGP diamond on it. When further away the targets are obstructed by mountains. What is the correct procedure for solving this ?

Need some advice on the third mission
jfri replied to jfri's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign (legacy version)
It's not so much the display that is the problem but more finding the right spot to view at with the slew control. What thread ? I found none. In what way is the TGP image flawed ? I do have labels enabled and it is still difficult to find the targets in the TGP.
