I have tried the instant actions labeled easy (mostly the first one). For me it isn't easy. The two first transports usually pose no problems. I take them out with the gun. The next patrol is a little more tricky. I need several passes since there are so many units. I use rockets and also need the gun. My problem here is that I might run out of ammo. It's also very repetitive to have to do this every time I try this action mission. The bridge I usually hit with GBU 38 bomb and the problem here is that I very often get shoot at so that I can't finish the tasks ahead. Next task with the tanks I have succeeded taking out one with a GBU 12 bomb and that is only one tank. I also tried with Maverick missiles and find it har to move the aiming cross over a tank with the plane also moving. How do you do and how far have you get ? Can you give some advice ?

Taking out choppers with Mavericks how realistic is that. i'm curious if this could be done with the A 10C also ?
-
My reason for trying out the A -10A was that expected something easier than the A- 10C. Maybe a mistake and my time would be better spent on the A 10C even though it has more complex systems.

I have tried the instant action and the two missions. In all cases I fail in this way. When I get close to where I can release weapons I get radar warnings. I turn on ECM and release flares and chaffs. Usually before or just at the point where I should fire I'm shoot down. I have tried several approaches. Approaching from different altitudes and directions. Using different weapons. Attacking different targets in the first run. Still I never succeed to even score one single hit.

Yes they were already enabled. I have never made any changes to the missions and I remember having the labels before
-
My problem is that when doing the ground attack tutorial I don't see any red labels over the targets as I'm supposed to do. And yes I have enabled these labels in the options. I do have labels on the planes.

Is a TM Warthog extension a good investment ?
jfri replied to jfri's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was reading the reviews on Sahays site and in one case the customer had been advised against 10 cm (which he first intended to get) and instead take 7.5 cm which was described as long enough. That would make you think that shorter has some advantage over longer. -

I see that I would have to wait until 6 July if I want to buy from him In EU I know of another option http://warthog-extensions-by-sahaj.com/ Does it matter from whom I buy ? A long stick that nor recenter does that mean the one that are bigger than 10 cm ? If it does not recenter what does it do instead ? Fall out to the edges of control span ? -

I will definitely get an extension and now need to decide the size. Also see that I can buy one inside EU which would be a better option for me -

I suppose that apply to the A10C which I of course have. But I also want to use the TM with other DCS planes and helicopters. I have the Black Shark and the Huey. I also use it in FSX. Such an expensive controller setup must be useful in many cases. -

There is a limit on how low I can place the stick since the pole of the adapter will reach the bottom. -
I have the TM Warthog HOTAS controller and also a wheel stand pro. I'm thinking about getting an extension for the stick. As I understand it would offer the following advantage. More realistic feel of the stick since the TM warthog stick has too stiff springs which also means easier to control planes. I also think it feels to stiff and have read that it is unrealistic in this regard I see one disadvantage with using an extension The stick will be at an higher position which might be uncomfortable and make it more difficult to use the stick. One question here is at what height should the stick at to be as realistic as possible ? If I would buy an extension I have found Simpit Technologies as an interesting seller http://www.simpit.co.nz/index.php/products/thrustmaster-warthog-extension And then the question arise which length is the best choice ? I see option to choose between 7.5 10 12.5 and 15 cm.

It now seems that doing ony 1) resolved the issue. Precisely opposite to what logic and common sense woud tell us

I tried an USB 2.0 port on my USB HUB. It didn't help.
-
That didn't help
-
What problem ? I'm not sure but I think all my USB ports are USB 3. But I do have a powered USB hub with USB 2 ports
-
Like you I also fly in FSX (P3D2 FSX-SE). Many planes in FSX are study planes for example A2A and PMDG planes. I tried the A10C take of lesson again yesterday. One thing I find hard with flying this plane is that sometimes I need a lot of control input to make the plane react and also it often moves in a jerky way. Overcoming this by trimming the plane is difficult since it's tricky to estimate how much to trim.

If the problem arose just after DCS being patched it is an indication that the problem is with DCS itself. Maybe a new DCS patch is what we need ?
-
If so the product is seriously flawed, This shouldn't be a problem for an USB device. I will check if my firmware is updated. I use USB 3 ports but that shouldn't be a problem
-
My impression is quite the opposite. For example in the take off training tutorial I have problems staying at assigned heading height and speed. At the end of the lesson where I'm supposed to do a 360 deg turn I fail most of the time. The plane simply seem difficult to hand fly and control with any precision. I use a TM Warthog controller and with that A10C specific controller I would expect the plane to be more easy to fly.

Do you like me have this problem even when you have checked SYNCHRONIZE COCKPIT CONTROLS WITH HOTAS CONTROLS AT MISSION START?
-
As I sad in the post I am aware of that option and has it checked
-
I have a TM Warthog HOTAS controller. When running the startup tutorial I see the throttle not being synchronized at start. I start the lesson with the throttle in cut off position which is also seen in the cockpit. But when I should start the engines by moving the throttle out of cut off to idle nothing happens. I must move the throttle back to idle cut off and the again to idle for things to start happening i.e both seeing the throttle in the cockpit moving and the engine starting. And yes I have ticked the synchronize cockpit controls with the HOTAS at start.

I have now got the hotas warthog throttle+stick. Before the A10C has been configured for other controllers. Is there an easy way to make DCS understand that now there is warthog hotas made for A10C and assign all its axes and buttons as it is supposed to be ? Or will I have to manually do this ?
