  4. That shit can get into your skin...you have to wear gloves if you pick it up. I was working EOR at WA one flag and a 15 was in the arm pad when chaff just started falling out. Some just floated away. Also when we took the CFT's off of the Strike, it would be caked up on the side of the tank.

  8. HAAAA!!! I flew the Embraer THAT MOFO was loud as hell. Now I'm fly the 80 and I can't even hear the motors. It makes a lot of noise on the take off from the wind going across the windows, but we can talk to each other w/o intercom. Who do you fly for?
  9. A lot of our pilots in my squadron didn't. I didn't when I got my rides in the 15. It wasn't that loud. Most of the noise is from the air coming from the ECS ducts. The airliners I've flown over the last few years are louder than a 15 cockpit.
  10. The jets are always "hot pre-flighted". It doesn't take long to actually crank the jet and taxi away. Both engine masters on, ramp switches auto, gen switches on, JFS starter switch to on, and engine control switches on. The radar can do a BIT test while taxiing. Doesn't take much. JFS handle pull, get a ready light, raise the #2 finger lift. 20% give it gas. Repeat for #1. Now a Strike Eagle, takes a little longer.
  11. What this guy said!! My friend, I've been saying the same thing. Dudes on here get wrapped around the axil about how "real" it is and that's ok, but you give suggestions, but nothing gets fixed. Every time something is "fixed", something else get's jacked up. The T/O trim...yeah it's WAAAAY off. Can't even use it. I've sent a few PM's to the guy who supposedly in-charge of the F-15 sim...no feed back. Cheers!   14. Just for gee-wiz, this is the PRCA. It weighs about 50-60lbs and is a pain in the ass. The PTC, RRC, and any other "C" is connected to it...
  15. Looks like the same flares to me. They look to glow red as it's being punched off before it ignites. I think you're also seeing flares from another jet behind it. Chaff doesn't look that way when being punched.
  16. The JFS of the 15 runs at 50% (idle) RPM until a finger lift is raised to start a motor. The JFS fuel control then "adds" more fuel and the clutch brake on the CGB releases allowing the JFS to accelerate to 100%. So for our airplane, it doesn't continuously run at 100%.
  17. You know the flight control system, especially the CAS, relies on inputs to the stick force sensor. This box is at the base of the stick grip where the paddle switch is located. With CAS on, you can strap the stick itself down to prevent it from moving in any direction however comma if you apply pressure to the stick grip, the flight control surfaces will deflect. Is this in the sim model? Can the pitch issues folks have been experiencing be because of this?

  20. Would it be fair to say that in flight, additional cooling due to airflow may allow it to operate longer? Maybe And yes you're right, equipment can fail, pilot might not have speed/altitude to deal with it etc. It's an emergency, and emergencies suck :) Technical question for you: How fast does the PTC move, and does it have any limits? HA! I have no clue. I was a CC, not a flight control specialist. I've changed a couple PTC's that are connected to the PRCA (which is THE most important item in the system). I'd have to pull out the 27GS to tell you that, but I don't have one. It if assumes the pitch CAS zone limits (+/- 10 deg), how is this mechanized since it's supposed to 'center' the pitch CAS zone? The reason I'm asking is because the PTC doesn't have enough authority in-game to trim for level flight at 40000'. My question is, how do sim designers take a physical and tangible device and replicate is for a game? To use a system in actual flight in one thing, but to say that the system is duplicated in a game is another.
  21. 334th crashed a jet in the 90's because the pilot shut down the good engine after the other caught on fire...they punched. Didn't have airspeed and altitude to figure what was what.
  22. I'd agree with that. I asked a couple other CC's and the JFS can run for 150 seconds. That's the limit on the ground, but the JFS/CGB are very temperamental. I changed them often...especially the JFS.

  24. Come on man, you know what I was saying and yes I changed it. I know what he is saying and the book does say "The JFS, WHEN ENGAGED, provides sufficient hydraulic power for flight control and emergency generator operation..." Like I said, I'd have to read the procedure myself and what he was saying IS correct. It is important to realize that if the airplane is at 210kts, spinning the JFS would motor the engine therefore turning the hydro pumps. So, the pilot can pitch for 210. The book also says eject before losing flight controls. I think the JFS would crap out before it got back on the ground w/it spinning at 100% trying to keep the hydro power going.
