  1. No dog in this fight, but the most apparent sound in the cockpit is the ECS. Inside the 15, that all you hear. You can hear a faint whine of the motors, but the blast of the air coming out of the ducts is the loudest.

  3. All two seat F-15's have the same ejection system. There are 3 modes: NORMAL (both have to pull their handles), AFT INITIATE (back can punch the front), and SOLO (captain obvious here).

  5. :thumbup: Nice chart. After I watched those youtubes I thought back to when I was doing real time reads while the motor was in burner and at mil power the motor is pretty loud. You can notice a slight increase in sound. I think the further away the more its noticeable.

  8. As a matter of fact, when you stand near a motor in burner, the shockwaves actually affect your breathing.
  9. Stay away from airshows. Burner is A LOT louder than mil. Try standing 5 feet from the nozzle w/a 30 foot blowtorch come out of it.

  12. Not quite. The FCS doesn't control the flaps. It has an airspeed pressure switch that will raise the flaps at 250kts if the switch is in the down position. Up and down only :smartass:

  14. It's the CENC - convergent exhaust nozzle controller - so it's not the nozzle itself. The sound is coming from a exhaust hole on the bottom of the jet.
  15. This is what the JFS sounds like during engine start. This is a -229 powered jet so it sounds different than a -220

  17. Similar functions, same stick fellas. The castle on the strike is used similar to the A-10. What I'm not sure of w/out looking at it, is if the MFD can display different pages.
  18. Oh, I agree w/you on that. I wasn't trying to imply that added thrust is used as the flare, but only to slow the sink especially if you pulled the power a little too soon.

  20. I still disagree, my AoA doesn't change when I squeeze in a little more power. What I'm saying is that my chord line doesn't move if I keep the nose pointed at a constant pitch attitude. For the 15, and when I worked EOR, some guys would do the same only to slow or stop your sink rate. That's the whole point.
  21. Nearly every landing has a flare. You guys gotta realize that not everyone uses the exact same techniques to fly their airplane. The majority of flying is through the use of "rules of thumb" while not exceeding limitations. Everyone holds their tongue in a different direction.
  22. I disagree. I do it sometimes (in real world flying) to slow my sink rate. My aircrafts pitch or AoA does not change at all. It's the descent rate that changes.

  24. When the albino's (light gray's) had the MSIP modification, the standard MacD stick was installed. So yes, the same stick grip.
  25. I aero-brake so I don't stop until near the last turn-off. Also, I'm not an AoA kinda guy. I don't use AoA in the real world and the ex-fighter guys I fly with have talked about not really using the indexer. That's just how I roll :pilotfly:
