Something is off with her tone/pitch. Sounds a tad too high.
-
Kadena flew w/CFT’s for a very brief period.
-
Various reasons. Like was mentioned, forgetting to turn the switch on, relay problems, fuel control issues…. The list can go on.
-
Not a response. I was looking at the trailer video and the models had scoops for 220’s. Yep, I meant 220’s. Thanks.
-
FYI... The CFT heat exchanger "scoops" on the side of the CFT's, were only installed on -229 Strikes during the time frame these air frames represent. -220 had heat exchanger "doors" that closed at .85 mach. Only w/in the past few years, with the upgrade of the radar was the fixed scoop installed on the -220’s Again just gee-wizz FYI.

If you're interested, here's the start seq for a 15 (It's been nearly 20 years since I've kicked a Strike out of chocks but here ya go!) Both ENG MASTER switches - ON Both ENG CONTROL switches - ON Both ENG GEN switches - ON JFS STARTER switch - ON (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) JFS HANDLE - PULL (If JFS start is unsuccessful, ROTATE handle CCW, and PULL again) JFS READY LIGHT - ON AMAD FIRE TEST switch - TEST WHEN READY TO START #2 ENG FINGER LIFT - RAISE (#2 engine is always started first unless otherwise required by maintenance) Listen for audible JFS acceleration and airframe vibration from CGB engagement and isolation decupler rotation Verify UTILITY HYD and PC2 HYD press increase Verify OIL press increase AT 20% ENG RPM #2 throttle - ADVANCE TO IDLE STOP AT 50% ENG RPM, JFS should decelerate to idle AMAD/ENG FIRE TEST switch - TEST NLG PIN REMOVAL - VERIFY (Crew Chief is holding it up for you to see before stowing) #1 ENG START (Same as #2 except no fire test and at 50%, JFS will decelerate and shut off. Also verify PC1 HYD Press)

AIM-7's are fired from LAU-106's only on the F-15. All versions of the jet have the same 106's. The missile is "pushed away" then the rocket motor is fired. Fun fact -- the stowed position of the !06's on a Strike CFT; the launchers are installed backwards to enable the carriage of bombs. When needed, weapons has to drop and turn the 106's around and install the eagle claws.
-
Wait I see it. TGT FLIR. Except that. But the pilot can take command and steer it and fire the laser. NAV pod control is in the front.
-
No they are not. It’s all in the front.
-
There is nothing in the back that’s not in the front. The pilot can operate all of the Strikes sensors themselves if they had to.
-
My moving map is only displayed on the 10mile range. Did I miss anything new?
-
Yes — the 106’s are completely removed to install a CFT. There are special mounts that are installed in place of the 106. IIRC, the mounts are torqued to like 2500ft/lbs. The CFT itself is secured by two bolts and gravity. But E’s can have 8 missiles w/CFT’s. The 106’s are installed on the CFT too.
-
CFT’s were ALWAYS installed. CFT’s don’t have to be removed for A/A. The first couple sorties during a “B-course” is all BFM. CFT’s, but no pods.
-
If installed, it would be above the aft 106’s. Pretty much always installed on light greys. And yes, if the jet was to fly w/CFT’s off, the generators were installed. It’s job was to keep the aft missiles from being suck back up into the jet when launched.
-
NOW THAT’S DIFFERENT!! Thanks for sharing ans cluing me in. I have never seen that as a config for a sortie.
-
Interesting. Do you have any pics? I'd be interested in seeing the config. Flying regular sorties w/out CFT's is a big deal. CFT mounts have to be removed (I broke a 1" drive trying to remove a nut), LAU-106's and vortex generators have to be installed. Some what of a PITA for maintenance.
-
So what is the confusion w/regard to CFT's? The only time we flew Strikes w/out CFT's was if it was going to Warner Robins. There was once a demo for sales that flew w/out, but only for that demo. The only squadron of C's that ended up flying with FAST packs was the 57th FIS out of Iceland...that's it.
-
Ok, I never realized that. Thanks.
-
Yeah, I know that. I’m wondering if there is a way to turn the filter off instead of having to change the date to use certain airplanes.
-
But the sound is from the CENC exhaust. The five nozzle actuators are mechanical. Four are connected to a master via a flex shaft. Two flex shafts are connected run from the CENC to the master actuator.
-
Is there an option to turn off the "airplane group" in the mission editor? Meaning is there a setting where I can see all the airplanes instead of using a date range? Thanks

Mission 1 broken after latest update

For whatever reason I never saw the first F10 messages, but it worked fine now. I appreciate the help.
