controlling the BS with a hotas or collective & cyclic
Fufunka replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
bnepethomas> now lets pray for the the good ED souls to provide us with Shkval TV & ABRIS texture export/multimonitor over network feature otherwise all the BS simpit frenzy has just no meaning at all.. -
Well, you can have much better immersion for a tiny fraction of the military grade simulator. You need only one dlp or diy (HD) projector, mylar mirror, projection screen either spherical or cylindrical when space is limited. What is missing is the software support for Lockon, which could be added as older games such as UT/Quake or OpenGL flightsims work with it. A skilled coder with access to the Lockon's graphics engine could do it quite easily in DirectX as well since the entire workflow and code is available at Bourke's and other websites. Price range for the entire diy package XVGA-HD $1-2k.. As shown in pic #2 you even don't need the sw support you can warp the image (big FOV) on the mylar sheet only as here in the MSFS2004 pit but the quality would be even higher with image warping done in sw beforehand (basically the following steps: warp image from cubic map, sharpness correction according to projection screen shape).. half/spherical: cylindrical: : details: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7135&page=7&highlight=bourke http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7135&page=8&highlight=bourke

to quote myself :megalol: ABRIS in the BS is as the real deal so various language packs are already in the system. At least the ENG/Russian..

controlling the BS with a hotas or collective & cyclic
Fufunka replied to G3's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
yes hovercontrol is the best, for switches and sim pits based on lockon/LUA/opencockpits try the french checksix forum.. But the major problem with simpits for LockonBS is that you need gauges/instruments, HUD, Shkval TV, and ABRIS view exports enabled, otherwise it makes no sense. The first two are implemented and working either as glasscockpits or real "steam gauges" from simkits etc. However, the last two are in question. So, far nobody answered (and we asked numerous times) as to whether Shkval TV and ABRIS would be possible to export to another display preferably over network. MSFS, Falcon, FlightGear sims are supporting these features so LockonBS should too. This is in my humble opinion much more important for the entire immersion factor than puting devs resources in some hard core tweaking of ammo properties since the real weaponery has slightly different "publicly undocumented" features anyway.. I can understand the the ED devs are not particularly happy about these requests as so much fine work has gone into that gorgeous 6DOF cockpit of Ka-50 but the reality is that lot of prospective BS players need pits and those export views. If not supported natively this functionality should be at least "outsourced" to some payware pros like from simmeters to do it.. -
I've posted a polite question an hour ago which would be of interest to any future BlackShark pit builders as well and someone just deleted it without a warning or question - there were couple of answers already in that thread. What's the problem? The unmoded original EECH is 6 years old and not generating any sales today to cannibalize on BS if this is your concern for god sake ..  We are just wondering what functions are assigned to the following missing buttons in Weapons Control System (WCS) panel since Ka-52 (in EECH) is using the same system as Ka-50 in BS and we are in process of maping these buttons. Perhaps ED devs or beta testers might kindly respond to this question by quickly glancing over caption on these buttons. Moreover, this might be of interest to any BS prospective players/pit builders. I hope you keep up the creative spirit of this forum. Thanks.

Sorry for the trollish post, but Lockon will become numero uno once they enable export view of ABRIS and Flir TV over network as MSFS, Falcon and others have.. -
Jay> that's made by some small Russian-Belorussian "garage co." I guess.. I've found it accidentaly on some major russian air sim forum and they are in development of these controlls for a couple of recent years.. I used some english<>russian online translator like systran/babelfish http://www.vkb-flightsimcontrols.com/

14 ball bearings, magnetic motion sensor from Philips, usb, cca u$d 300: These guys are selling magnetic sensor kits for Cougar and Saitek, also working on sturdy joy for planes and helicopters. And yes, it's a russian crap so the F22 has better rudders, lol..

There were some rumors that this F117 was tracked by the early version of the Vera passive radar system used to be made in Czechoslovakia, right? Now these passive radar systems are part of NATO so they blocked sales to China etc..
-
Well, russians probably mastered (recent undetected trespass over US airspace) the "plasma stealth" capability for their current gen of aircrafts and the pricetag was certainly lower than the whole F22 project. Also the backbone of Chinese airforce is not Mig21 at least by 2015. Some statistics have pretty old data like this one: http://www.milnet.com/Chinese-and-Terrorism.html#af The beauty of Russian/Chinese/Indian defence industry is that when they have to compete $ against $ it is in reality quite different. For political reasons US defense industry is scatered all over the 50 states so price per volume is giant, every stupid knob costs $1000 you know the story. The US defense contractor and his employees have Porsches and McMansions, their "eastern" counterparts have a flat, eurosized car and that's it.. That's why Russians were able to keep up for almost 40 years in the cold war race - obviously at a great cost in their consumer sector as well but that's another story..

Fantastic video, I'm wondering how much was CGI and actual game play but more importantely "even better" is a relative term.. Does it support now export views of ABRIS and Flir TV over network for pit builders? :P

New 1.7 version of EECH has been just released. Mainly further improvements in the flight model, avionics, sound etc.. Download and details on all the changes here: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=005052

Pilotasso> Well, you have not obviously played EECH which is far from boring the new realworld weapon mods and maps from all over the planet can make life rather short, dynamic campaigns are fun to watch and to be engaged in. Btw. pulling afterburner is for wannabies like Tom Cruise :megalol: Vampyre Master> In case you are not just teasing us the EECH download servers are ok no problem with access: http://www.eechcentral.com/index.php/Installation_guide http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=004091 http://www.eechcentral.com/files/ The basic mod package is cca 440Mb so ask someone to get you these files on CD: Btw. new EECH box is still around for cca 9EUR you can get it for less on Ebay etc.

DarkSoul> Simmeters have already working version of Lockon glasspanel gauges and HUD view export so if they will support MFD/ABRIS/Flir you only add "few dozen" switches, displays and warning lights connected for instance via opencockpits IO cards.. Opencockpits architecture is already supported in Lockon FC, MSFS, IL2, Falcon, and EECH is in alpha now.. http://avia.transas.com/eng/abris.htm
-
Alex & Doug> can we hope that MFDs/FLIR/ABRIS views will be possible to export someday too? Like the MSFS, Falcon, FlighGear sims can do..

EECH moded version home: http://www.eechcentral.com/index.php/Main_Page Forum: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=30 Review: http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_150a.html => no problem at all

There are basically two options how to export MFD/HUD/Shkval TV: 1. The crude one which is map it from the video memory and send it on the second display (tv-out) and then by physical videosplitter send it again to small lcd panels. This is the rudimentary F4 method: Pictures and diagrams here: http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=922559#post922559 2. The second advanced approach is more like the "glass cockpit/panel" for FS series which needs some more coding and which sends out only data over the network..

Hi Vampyer, in the interim you can fly hard the two seater version Ka-52 and other ships in the great EECH sim which has been recently extensively moded to our pleasures: http://www.eechcentral.com review: http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_150a.html forum: http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=30

Doug> if you manage to export views of the MFD/ABRIS/Shkval TV from BlackShark I'll nominate you for Nobel.. that's for sure.. Thanks for your efforts
-
I like your LO_IOCP for LUA<>opencockpits pcb comm that's excellent! What is your take on MFD/ABRIS in Lockon BS, how hard it would be to get this external view out? Thanks
-
So it is possible to have MFD/ABRIS view export afterall? On the UBI forum there is some ED dev saying in 2004 that it is possible but not in the pipeline for the immediate future.. It seems to me that all those linked lockon glass cockpits projects are dead.. Btw. glass cockpit for lockon as a payware here: http://www.simmeters.com/index.html They know how to export gauges and even HUD but not MFD/ABRIS at the moment..
-
I'm wondering why multimonitor setup has not gained more traction by the ED devs and moders. The implementation in MS FlightSimulator has been around for years mainly in this Wideview application. Now, I've learned that even the open project FlightGear has this functionality implemented already! Basically, they take the flight dynamics model which runs in the master computer and spit out the data 60x per sec over the LAN and then the other computers on the network run the client with different external views. FlightGear is an open source project so somebody might look into their code and attempt to develop similar functionality for Lockon as well.. master<>slave multimon explained in brief here: http://www.inkdrop.net/dave/multimon.pdf techical details search for this at FlightGear website: $FG_ROOT/Docs/README.IO http://www.flightgear.org/docs.html
-
? I know more people flying FS with multiple monitors with older computers over network such as Wideview than single high tech comp individuals.. So, your little theory does not hold water!
