  1. Not sure it's possible anymore since we are using direct mode. I used to do it with a HDMI capture device plugged into a second computer but I've since sold it so can't test with the latest runtime versions. do you mind me asking why you want to record that view? The associated head tracking is very disorientating for others who are "looking through your eyes" with another rift and for those without a rift it's kinda pointless. I think that's why oculus reverted to making the pre warp image from the buffer available to display on the monitor rather than the warped stereo images. You could play back your track with the rift turned off and use a stereo lua view file to split the image then record that again with shadow play, OBS or fraps. It's a bit of a long work flow though but might be doable.
  2. Did the oculus rift thread get moved? Why have we several pages talking about joysticks? Maybe people are just making conversation until the end of March. Haha. Now that we are on the subject isn't there a patent on force feedback flight sticks. I thought that's why we haven't seen any in years.
  3. I got my KW-908 Jetseat yesterday and I got a few minutes to fly last night. Decided to try my hand at some pinnacle landings.
  4. I found the issue. Export.lua in my 1.5 install also included some code to export to the X-sim plugin. I removed the code and the jetseat now works great. I will reintroduce the code in stages to see if I can isolate the issue.
  5. I just received my jetseat (thanks Andre). I started up simshaker and it updated. I hadn't used it in a while. It does not seem to be reading my export.lua file. I have no effects in the Jetseat while in flight (Jetseat Handler reports Jetseat=ok). I no longer have the standalone DCS World installed. I have the Alpha of 2.0 and the 1.5 Beta. The Jetseat is working fine in test mode so I believe the problem is between DCS and Simshaker software. I have selected USB under output mode. My log screen on Simshaker shows the following: The Simshaker flight data window remains unpopulated during flight. The Debug info window shows "Using data from DCS world". It does not list anything under "Last Effect:" After the update should I of had to update the lua or this automatic? Should I remove and reinstall Simshaker? If so will I then need to reactivate it? EDIT: Its working great in 2.0Alpha. I will compare the export.lua file from 1.5 to see if I can find the issue.
  6. There seems to be two causes for sickness with me. With motion sickness I only ever have issues in games with first person movement. These are usually ported titles not designed for VR. In cockpit games such as DCS where you have a fixed reference I have no issues. The second cause of sickness is judder. Any game which does not maintain high enough frame rate can be very uncomfortable. Initially this used to make me feel a bit queasy. Not so much anymore but it is still very uncomfortable and completely breaks immersion. I don't get motion sick in real life so others who do may find their tolerance will vary. Either way further improvements to game optimization and better rift implementation should see DCS becoming even more comfortable to use in VR.
  7. The Kw-908 mentioned by Andre earlier in the thread which went missing en route to Ireland has shown up on the local postal system. I should have it in a few days. I'm posting to let others know in case the fact it went missing put them off ordering from Andre. I would also like to reiterate the great service which he has provided trying to establish the seats whereabouts. God knows where it was for the past two months since it left Russia but I'm glad to see its nearly here. Thanks again Andre!
  8. Thanks. I must have changed it unknowingly using my iPhone.
  9. All my forum menus and buttons have changed from English to Cyrillic alphabet. Is this a bug?
  10. That friend in Ireland is me! We had a seat go missing in transit. I'm still checking the tracking number daily but unfortunately it hasn't been updated since the middle of December. I hadn't mentioned it previously in this thread as it is something that is not Andreys fault nor is it a reflection of his service which has been excellent. We are waiting on the postal company to respond. Hopefully it will show up.
  11. GearVR thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=156181 It will not work as well as a rift. The rift thread is here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93477 The cost of the rift is $600 not $1000
  12. Can anyone confirm if today's patch fixes this issue?
  13. I'd love to see some of the medical facilities added to Vegas. Several of them include heliports which could be used for both military and civilian type helicopter missions. Spring Valley hospital heliport. Summerlin Medical Centre heliport. University Medical Centre heliport. Valley Hospital Medical Centre heliport. Are there any plans to implement these to the NTTR map? Anyone else like to see them added?
  14. Not directly! To clarify the xbo will be able to stream games to the PC which can then be played in the rift on a virtual big screen but not in full VR.
  15. Don't feed the troll. Icarus has said he's not buying a rift yet continues to post in this thread to knock it every chance he gets.
  16. Oculus have hinted at further add ons several times at CES. It's not unreasonable to think a camera may be one of them. I've also read the rift will be available later on without the Xbone controller.
  17. Not sure if there will be an option to turn it off. It shouldn't cost anything though. It's a pre warp frame which is being rendered internally anyway.
  18. The biggest performance hit for me is shadows. I have to leave them off.
  19. I manage no judder with a 980ti. Are you trying to use max settings?
  20. Traditional Sli is undesirable for VR. It increases latency. For multiple graphics cards we need gameworksVR (Nvidia) or liquidVR (AMD). Both of these APIs are still in development and are not yet available for DCS. For the time being a single card will be better for VR. As to the question on the 970. The gtx970 is the minimum spec for oculus launch titles. That is games which will be available in the oculus store and have been especially developed for VR. DCS is not one of those titles (unless eagle dynamics have a relationship with oculus that we don't know about). We don't know yet what will be a minimum for DCS until they release their oculus implementation using the consumer runtime (1.0). They have access too it and are working on it at the moment. The runtime is due to be released to consumers by the end of March. Hopefully features of the associated SDK will be rolled out in a DCS update soon after. It will add asynchronous timewarp and other performance enhancing features. This coupled with optimizations to EDGE (which is still Alpha) will give us a better idea of where we stand. My advice to those considering an upgrade is to wait a few months if possible. Single card will most likely be the best option initially. If we get the nvidia and AMD VR APIs implemented down the road then that'll be a bonus and will mean two cards will perform better (one card per eye/screen).
  21. They are in the comments on the frooglesim video posted earlier.
  22. Runtime 1.0 will be released to us at the end of March.
  23. I'm so happy to hear that timewarp is coming. Since finishing overclocking my current settings which allow smooth judder free flight over downtown Vegas in Rift equate to 200 to 220fps on the desktop (single monitor 1080p). With timewarp it may mean I won't have to turn down settings for CV1 with its higher res and higher refresh rate. This along with further graphics optimizations may see a target desktop framerate of 180fps resulting in smooth VR performance rather than the current 220fps. I hope they can further optimize shadows as that is the one thing missing in the VR environment for me. I can't run with them on due to judder.
  24. Will DCS work with Rift in March? Is there any indication if ED have received the 1.0 SDK and runtime? It has been released to launch titles already so I'm curious to know if that includes DCS. There are new features which will improve performance such as asynchronous timewarp which are not in the current runtime. These will take some work and time to implement. I really hope I don't end up with a rift in early April only to find out it won't work out of the box with DCS!
