Fear the Bones! - Campaign Info
CheckGear replied to Reflected's topic in F-14A Fear the Bones Campaign
I haven't even played this campaign and I can already tell - THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A CAMPAIGN!!! Total authenticity - real ships accurate to the moment, accurate air wings and liveries, THIS IS THE WAY IT'S DONE! Everyone needs to take note, but we know they won't, because [insert lame reason here]. I wonder what the real pilots of CVW-8 who deployed aboard "Big Stick" on its maiden deployment would say about this campaign. Imagine if the AI A-6 was already available!!! More campaigns like this, please! -
Any movement on this topic? The hand signals do need work, for sure.
-
In light of recent events, any chance the map will be expanded to include the above-entitled area? Also, is there any gouge on upcoming SP missions and campaigns? Was really hoping for some hypothetical Israel-Hezbollah material, instead of the same old Russia-related stuff.

Bunyap, Thank you for releasing such an incredible product! The research you put into this is incredible. You've done a yeoman's job!

F-16C Red Flag 21-1 Campaign
CheckGear replied to 5e EVC Chappy's topic in F-16C Red Flag 21-1 Campaign
Ironically, Red Flag campaigns are the most realistic experience of air war you can get in DCS, currently. The Nevada map is the most fully-developed (besides the Caucasus) and you can deploy literally every type of contemporary unit into the scenarios. Plus there's plenty of literature on how Red Flag functioned in the real world. -
In terms of modern aircraft, DCS presents a mid-'90s to present-day feel. I'd like to see the GR1 and GR4 with precision strike capability. That fits the theaters of DCS, particularly the Persian Gulf and Syria.

Since we are going to get 80s 90s carrier air wing

LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!! -
Thanks to you all for replying. Does anyone know what ED uses to create their videos, especially their insane trailers?

Better yet, can the skinning community get revved up and develop historical air wings that authentically reflect the compositions and liveries of specific air wings during specific deployments/eras? That would be yuuuuuuuuge. -
Sorry if this sounds like a noob question. But I've searched the forums and can't find an answer. How do I film in-game footage??? Thanks,

Contact Raytheon Technologies. They might be able to assist. -
Bruh, I was 13 when this picture was taken!

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
CheckGear replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Seeing a lot of fictional skins out there. Anyone still interested in doing real-life skins? I'd like to see this for the F-14A: VF-213 in the 1990s, one of my favorites. -
DCS is a very ambitious project, something that's never been attempted in the history of gaming. Therefore, we should all expect to be "WIP" for years to become. It's possible we'll never really enjoy its full potential until later this decade. I realize how frustrating this is, but I'd rather have DCS in its buggy, unfinished state than not at all. As for "profits over product maintenance," find me a company that doesn't do that. Any business venture that doesn't make money won't survive. That's it. A business that doesn't try to make money doesn't deserve to exist. DCS is a product created by people who make less money than you think they do and they're driven by passion. That's not me shilling for ED, that's the reality of the arts. Making money as an artist is very difficult, even if you, as the consumer, feel like you're paying a disproportionate price for the product.

This is awesome!!!

I'm confused - the A-6E is supposed to be AI-only, right? So why does everyone keep talking about the cockpit?
-
What a great year that was! And awesome screenshot!

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)

LOL The pilot and RIO looking sideways out at the camera! -
Obviously, trade-offs have to be made. But how accurately do they intend to model the A-6E? If they can at least achieve the equivalence of that with the F-14D, I'd be all for it.
-
It's ultimately ED's product and they have to sign off on it. My point stands.
-
I hope the A-6E mod proves successful and it turns into something ED will do more often - create high-fidelity, non-flyable aircraft. This is a good way to compromise on certain disputes. For example, I suggested they create an AI F-14D, so it can be in the simulation in an accurately-simulated fashion, while still being un-flyable due to a lack of data.
-
By the way, somebody said SWIP was in service for "only a few years." The first SWIP Intruders entered operational service in 1989. So they saw more than a few years of service.
-
SWIP flew no-fly zone enforcement over Iraq and Bosnia (as someone else already mentioned). Also, SWIP was able to employ the widest range of weaponry, particularly the Mavericks and SLAMs.
-
So, we've got the F-14A/B, F/A-18C, E-2D (stand-in for E-2C), S-3B, and soon, the A-6E. Is there anyone out there who'd be interested in creating historical air wings? We have players who create time-specific skins, it'd be cool if we could re-create entire air wings. I'd love to fly as part of CVW-11 as they were in 1995!
-
Makes sense. ED seems to be going for a '90s timeframe with a lot of these planes and the SWIP was the final modification to Intruder before it retired in 1997.
