Syrian and Afghan theatre of operations confirmed!
CheckGear replied to WHOGX5's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just started playing the Syria map. My first reaction was, "God what an ugly country." Which means they did a superb job making the map! Great work!:smilewink: -
If you need voice actors, I'd be happy to volunteer!
-
I love stuff like this. It just does to show how difficult it really is to simulate real life, even in a hyper-accurate simulation like DCS. Sometimes, you have to do "crazy" stuff and suspend reality a bit just to create a playable game.

:megalol: There's a Black Sea campaign that's supposed to be released by HB for DCS: F-14B.

Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet
CheckGear replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Really enjoyed this episode. Jell-O's presence makes everything instantly better! -
I can't speak for HB, but I'd doubt they'd make you do that. Operation Earnest Will's a historical event, not some intellectual property HB has exclusivity to.
-
Isn't the campaign that's supposed to be released for DCS: F-14A supposed to be based on Earnest Will also? I'm really looking forward to that (and the F-14A).
-
Jetfighter IV: Full Burn was even better. What those '90s sims lacked in accuracy and realism, they made up for with immersion.
-
Any mission/campaign designers interested in entertaining ideas for Persian Gulf missions and campaigns? I've got a few ideas.
-
I just hope it's as immersive as this:
-
Given the limits of this map and available modules, this is a more complete list of the single missions/campaigns I'd like to see: - Hypothetical U.S.-USSR clash resulting from Israeli invasion of Lebanon (F-14A missions/campaign, remake of "Powder Keg" campaign from Microprose's Fleet Defender; - Historical missions of late-1983 air strikes following bombing of Marine barracks in Beirut (F-14A); - 2006 Lebanon War (Israeli F-15/F-16 missions/campaign); - HUGE Inherent Resolve campaign from all perspectives - carrier-based F/A-18C, land-based Marine F/A-18C, F-15C, F-16C, Russian campaign, etc.; - Hypothetical Israeli Air Force campaign in future Lebanon war.
-
I looked at the map again. I feel silly now. But yes, 2006 Lebanon War would be something I'd like to see. But Inherent Resolve above all else!
-
All I need to know is this: Who's going to make the single missions and campaigns centered on Operation Inherent Resolve, history's most high-tech air campaign? Or 2014's Operation Protective Edge? And the ongoing Israel-Iran shadow war? Syria's quite possibly the best map to ever happen to DCS: World!
-
Now that we've got the Syria map coming out, can we expect designers to start working on missions and campaigns that took place during history's most state-of-the-art air campaign? Inherent Resolve would really be the ultimate "sandbox" campaign, because it featured just about every modern military aircraft from over 20 different countries. It's basically everything in DCS World and so much more! The only aircraft that couldn't participate is the F-14 Tomcat, even on the Iranian side, and the WWII planes. I'd also like to see some Israeli missions and campaigns as well, particular their recent "shadow war" against Iran-aligned proxies, Hezbollah, and Hamas.

Bruh, what year was this??? :D And give this man a raise for this photograph!
-
That's my point. Didn't someone tell them launches are done and it's recovery time?
-
You guys are outdoing yourselves here!
-
We'll have the Super Tomcat someday. It'll just be a long time. Bombcat in a Cold War scenario would be an anachronism.
-
It also hasn't had that bad of an effect on my framerate, either!
-
From a photography perspective, this is probably the best:

Couple of critiques, understanding full well, like most DCS products, Super Carrier's in a continuous mode of development: - The catapult director (enlisted yellowshirt) never hands off control to the shooter (officer yellowshirt) like he should. As with all things on the flight deck, until the aircraft has actually been handed off to someone else, the last person in charge remains in charge. - Likewise, before the hand-off, the director never relays the signal to the catapult operator to put tension on the catapult. This signal constitutes one arm pointing down the runway, while the opposite arm stands up at a 90-degree angle. Once the "hookup man" clears away from the plane, then the director hands off control to the shooter. - What's with all the personnel standing on the port side of the flight deck, some in front of the FLOLS, during recovery? Other than that, I'm totally blown away. The attention to detail is insane. It's not even an aircraft but this might be DCS' finest module yet and we all know it's only getting better!
-
Thanks ED! It's not even an aircraft, but it's still your best module yet!

When will we have the deck crew directing aircraft out of the landing area?
