Excellent work, very much appreciated, thanks. This would be good as a Sticky.

nomdeplume, mtuckner, thanks for your last two posts, sorted out the same issue for me as well. Thought it was a new bug with Beta 4, totally forgot I'd just updated my TIR 5 software.

Su 25T Shval display zoom settings

Can't find any reference to it in the manual, maybe it should be added in the next patch as I think this is an important feature that needs some highlighting. -
Su 25T Shval display zoom settings

OK, sussed where I was going wrong, it is the Salvo mode CTRL-V. I was looking for a switch in the cockpit to change to say I was in Salvo mode, but I couldn't see anything changing. What I've now noticed is the HUD symbology changes on stations 4 & 8, they are boxed to show you are in Salvo mode. The Ripple interval times make no difference. Thanks Boberro, don't know how I missed that before, guess I'm getting old! I'll see if it's in the manual, I usually don't miss those details. -

OK, managed to fire off 2 in quick succession, think before I wasn't holding the trigger long enough, and I've set the Interval to 0.4secs. -
Su 25T Shval display zoom settings

I accept it is probably more realistic, it is a feature I used to use and enjoy using in FC1. I still cannot fire more than one Vikhr at a time, then have to wait for impact, wait a few more seconds after locking up another target, then I can fire another Vikhr. So if I need to take out an Abrahms Tank with 2 Vikhrs, I either need to press into to target and hope nothing else takes me out, or I need to complete 2 stand off attack runs, which take time to set up. Even in Black Shark, you can fire off 2 Vikhrs in one Salvo, specifically for taking out the "harder" targets. The systems are very similar, it even says so on the DCS website http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1671&scr=default#air If this is a "feature" then I'll happily accept that this is just the way it is going to be now, I would just like clarification as I've tried (unsuccessfully) many different ways of firing a salvo of 2 in close succession. -
Su 25T Shval display zoom settings
andyfoot replied to andyfoot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just took it back to ver 1.2, where the Shkval has 3 levels of magnification as per training track and manual. Patched to 1.2.1 and it's back to 2 levels as before. Guess it's for the stability reason. Still working on firing multiple Vikhrs. -

Thanks for that, don't know why I couldn't find it. Any idea why it got deleted? Also, I can't seem to ripple fire the Vihkr like I used to, now it seems I have to wait until I re-acquire a target, leave it a few seconds before I get a Launch Authorised. In FC1 I seem to remember I could fire several of them in one run, spaced a few seconds apart and lock up different targets "on the fly" and take out 3 - 5 targets in one pass. Now I'm lucky to take 2 out in one pass. Any thoughts on this? -
Just getting back into the Su 25T, watched the training video and checked the manual, which both say there are 3 levels of magnification, 1x, 8x an 23x. The level currently selected should be displayed on the TV Monitor in the top left, next to the target box size. In my Su 25T I only have 2 levels of magnification and there is no display of how high this is next to the target box size. Is it just me, or is this a known issue? I've tried to search the forums, but have found no other reports of it. I've reinstalled, but still the same.

Help on stabilizing the trim in A-10
andyfoot replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Didn't mean I use this, it is just something I've noticed. I trim pretty much constantly and accept it as the norm. Did some RL gliding a couple of years back, my instructor says to me "your flying with Prince Charles, you barrel roll and end up inverted, but Prince Charles isn't strapped in, what do you do?" "Trim" -
Help on stabilizing the trim in A-10
andyfoot replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
One thing I've noticed, is that if you are in A2G mode, point yourself in the direction you want to head and engage Autopilot. It will stabalise your heading, altitude and trim. Another way to sort your trim out, is to engage Altitude Hold, then disengage it again once stable. The thing with Trimming is that if anything changes, you have to trim. Be it using weapons, changing speed, adjusting for wind or losing an engine. -
I use my wingman to take out Shilka's/ZSU23's quite effectively by making an initial approach to lock the target up with my free-fall bomb reticule (not Maverick, that one doesn't work with the next bit). I usually get fairly close to accurately mark his position, up to the point he starts firing at me, so I know I have his attention. I then break hard in a safe direction, and tell my wingman to Attack My Target. I then continue to play with the target, teasing him and flying around close so he keeps firing at me, so my wingman can take him out relatively safely. I find this tactic works really well, especially if your wingman has dumped all his ordanance due to a SAM threat, your wingman will use the GAU and take the target out in one pass.

Guys, read this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51587 & http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52278 it sorted the crashing on cycling weapons for me using D3DOverrider on my Win 7, 64 bit system with ATI 5850 Cat 10.3 (Also X52 Pro & Pedals, using SST, and Track IR4). I run smoothly in full screen mode, have not had a crash since using D3DOverrider.
-
Went for the Rivatuner D3DOverrider programme. No crashes so far, my FPS is capped at around 60, but that's good enough. Tried using Wordpad or Notepad in XP to alter a config file on Black Shark about a year ago and it trashed my install, so I'm wary of using Win 7 Wordpad.
-
Got the same problem here, crashing when cycling weapons in A10, but only after several cycles through weapons. System Win 7 64bit HP i7 930 @ 4Ghz ATI 5850 Cat 10.3 6Gb Ram, Track IR4 X52Pro Flight Stick and Rudder Pedals. To change the config file to set Max fps, I need to use Notepad ++ or something don't I? or would I be better using the Rivatuner (not tried it yet)?

Many thanks, just wanted to be sure.

Finally took the plunge to try out ModMan 7.2, having just upgraded to Win7, and when I run ModMan, it says I have to re-install FC2 to another directory other than C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics. Do I have to deactivate, uninstall, reinstall and reactivate; or can I just uninstall and reinstall?

Very nice, I like it!! -
I use the gun effectively to take out ManPads at over 4km (about the range they launch at you) by switching from Auto to Man. I have taken them out at up to 6km, but generally I deal with them at around 4.5 - 5km to keep myself safe and to use less ammo. The AP rounds are more effective due to the richochet effect they have. Against lightly armoured vehicles, I tend to close to around 2.5km or less, especially for HMV's that have a smaller threat zone, to get better effect.
-
Having used the Saitek Rudder pedals for the last few years, I wouldn't consider playing a flight sim without them now. Not as important as 1. a good HOTAS, 2. TrackIR, but these are easily number 3 and they make ground pounding a lot easier/better IMHO. Using a twist rudder joystick can cause you to alter your flight tragectory, just when you need to stay wings level and on course.

Is there a way to give the Gau-8 Combat Mix?
andyfoot replied to 5by5's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
It's a real shame about the High/Low gun rate. I used it a lot, and I could do a lot more damage with it that way. I seem to remember watching something on Discovery about the A10 and one of the pilots they interviewed said most pilots always had it at low setting most of the time. He also said it was the greatest feeling when they first fired it, they were grinning like a big school kid (something I can sympathise with after playing FC2). It has been a while since I watched the documentary though, and I'm getting old and forgetful and confused!! I guess it is a lot more realistic now with the richochet effect, and you can visibly see the diversion spread of your rounds, I like it .... a lot!! -
Does anyone know what the function of the mouse cursor is for in the A10, the command brings up a yellow cursor cross (like in Black Shark) but I can't figure out what it's for, I haven't found any clickable buttons for it. C - LAlt Mouse cursor cockpit mode

Is there a way to give the Gau-8 Combat Mix?
andyfoot replied to 5by5's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As well as this, can we change the Gun Rate from High to Low. I'm sure it's a feature I used to use all the time in LOMAC and FC1, to help conserve Ammo. PS I think the Combat Mix is called a Party Mix -
FC2 - A-10 Mission Report...!

Great read, FC2 looks awesome! Haven't ventured out in the A10 for a while (since a few months before Black Shark came out) and the nostalgia is really building.
