  1. One way to test is to open the mission in the ME and re-save it as a 2.5 version. May or may not work.
  2. Previous patch (06/13) seemed to fix the F10 map, but did have slightly too much clutter at certain zoom levels, but was vast improvement in F10 map (probably the best F10 map since DCS came out!) Yesterday after patching, I noticed that the town name clutter is gone, but doesn't give mgrs zoom levels anymore and MGRS grids now move off course when you move the map around! Neither patches make any mention of map fixes, but the latest one is a big step backwards since if you move the map at anytime, all grids are now off and cannot be reset to actual position. Now you have to use the cursor and read the map coords on top instead of using the grids.
  3. THIS +1000!! I got heavily attacked on here when 2.5 came out as it was unplayable for me and so many people, and I suggested that the 2.5 "Open Beta" version was in fact the release version since there was no other version !!! But I and many others were told if we had issues then we should be going back to 1.5 "release" since this was OB and if we couldn't run it too bad! Then 2.5 release finally came out, and it was the exact version as OB! Today OB is essentially release version with latest updates. Back in 1.5 days I did have both versions, but today it really makes no sense to have both. As stated by BIGNEWY in another thread, release version does NOT mean stable version, so there is no reason to stay on release.
  4. It is. Azrayen corrected me. STT to TWS with lock (AA mode) button as well.
  5. I foolishly stand corrected! Haven't played in a few days so tried to explain from memory. STT to TWS is simply lock key (Which is also Air to Air mode in key binding).
  6. Issue that's been around since 2.0 Open alpha days (mid 2017 at least) This is probably going to take months possibly years to fix. No hotfix is going to stabilize the entire netcode. Daniel I thought you were told multiple times to just report bugs and NOT place time constraints. You obviously have no coding/programming experience, so you have NO idea how long it will take to fix a bug/issue. counter25, I also use process lasso and recommend it to anyone having issues. However it will only help the client side, not server lag caused by various units in game.
  7. It was actually the easiest way to install since 2.5 came out. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ Always do a complete re-install (uninstall 1.5) , keeping your input files, as so far there really hasn't been any conflict between 1.5/2.5
  8. I definitely agree on a lot of what you said. But to clear everyone's head and achieve Nirvana without pulling your head off, repeat these words: "2.5 Beta IS Release version (with the latest updates and fixes)" Pretend the word beta does not exist. The way they do things is a bit different from pretty much all other companies, and I've learn to accept that. Currently "Release" version is several important updates with bugs fixes behind. The Open Beta IS the stable release REGARDLESS of what ED says or whatever labels they use. As you experienced, ED uses the term Release and Beta interchangeably since 1.5. If you can wrap your head around it and not get stuck on the term "beta" everything will be fine :P "2.5 Beta IS Release version (with the latest updates and fixes)"
  9. I wouldn't hold my breath. Remember DCS version 1.5 had open beta (which most servers used) right till the release of 2.5! BUT when day comes when OB is relegated to the internal testers, it will be a beautiful day for all.. For players as this would signal the game has reached a level of progress where bugs are few and far between!
  10. Well I guess there are exceptions to everything. It is possible someone with zero experience with DCS and no knowledge of any of the planes decides to jump into a MP server before he does even some basic training missions or reading any forum posts.
  11. to be fair it would be quite silly to jump into a MP session if you have never even been in the air in DCS. I agree its confusing, it's bad form to have the versions the waylike they do , but like I said, right now the players and server hosts have no choice! They MUST use OB to stay up to date. It also happened in the 1.5 days near the end when the beta side started getting updated more frequently. Again I don't agree with how DCS releases versions, but it is what it is.
  12. This goes back to when I got banned for calling 2.5 release version (there were no other versions!) when it came out and a large portion of the population couldn't even access MP. I was told 1.58 was Release and 2.5 was OB and I could not contest that. Release came shortly after and it was in fact the exact same version as OB. Today "Release version" is an older unpatched, and mostly broken version of the new engine. Open Beta is Release version with latest patches applied. It's backwards, but it is what it is. If you want to join a server that is the most up to date version, you need OB. no question As for the # of Steam downloads vs player time, that's easy to understand. Since DCS is free anyone can downloaded it. But only hardcore milsim study sim players will appreciate its complexities and stick it out. An arcade twitch player will load the game up, see how much time he will need to invest just to just start a plane, close the game and move on to War Thunder. Study sims will always have a absolutely small fraction of the player base of arcade games. I read a review on Steam where some idiot claimed this was a pay to win game that required spending hundreds of dollars to acquire all aircraft!
  13. navigational charts are not classified!
  14. It's a desert with little trees, object count is much much lower than Caucasus
  15. the best app I found to automate process tweaking is process lasso. Once set you ill never have to make changes again. Here's a great thread with pdf to help: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203614 Before I was unable to even play any MP since 2.1 (after a patch mid 2017), but now I have no issues loading other than in-game crashes, lag spikes, stutters which are standard fare with 2.5. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203614
  16. Sounds like it's a problem on your side, since you even state your Windows almost broke you SB. No problems switching audio output can be done while game is running.
  17. That's so weird. 2.51 came out April 25 but yet May 4, 5 and 10th you kept posting you couldn't connect.
  18. yup known memory issue since 2.5 came out.
  19. Of all the current online servers, I think I saw two that use mods (and one was password locked). We have enough issues with DCS without adding mods to somewhat functional multiplayer servers at this point. If DCS ever grows to even 1/100th of ARMA3's player base, and DCS provides a robust SDK, then I'd be inclined to think investing in some sort of mod repository. We are a long time away from that. Besides Daniel's initial request was he wants to play his mods on any server and thinks that providing 3d textures is all that is needed for those who do not have the mod,to be able to join and interact with his mods. It's not.
  20. still happens to everyone at some point.
  21. what server You also realize most loading bars in games are a gimmick right? many processes that need to be calculated cannot be predicted hence the reason that a bar will stall at one area.
  22. Did you load up a sp mission? Are you aware of all the memory issues affecting loading times for all servers including DDS??
  23. takes about 4:30 seconds to go from cold start, with 0 fuel and 0 weapons to airborne with radar emitting. in fact if you do things right it will take under 40secs for the radar to be active after wheels up.
  24. Besides 3d models and textures are not enough for players to interact with the modded planes/units. EVERYONE on the server needs the ALL the files associated with the mod. just as you cannot start a single player game with just models textures. it does not work like that. AS for how ED does it with DCS retail products , everyone gets the files to interact with modules you do not have, but you do not get cockpit or some config files.
