I wouldn't hold my breath. Remember DCS version 1.5 had open beta (which most servers used) right till the release of 2.5! BUT when day comes when OB is relegated to the internal testers, it will be a beautiful day for all.. For players as this would signal the game has reached a level of progress where bugs are few and far between!
-
Well I guess there are exceptions to everything. It is possible someone with zero experience with DCS and no knowledge of any of the planes decides to jump into a MP server before he does even some basic training missions or reading any forum posts.
-
to be fair it would be quite silly to jump into a MP session if you have never even been in the air in DCS. I agree its confusing, it's bad form to have the versions the waylike they do , but like I said, right now the players and server hosts have no choice! They MUST use OB to stay up to date. It also happened in the 1.5 days near the end when the beta side started getting updated more frequently. Again I don't agree with how DCS releases versions, but it is what it is.

This goes back to when I got banned for calling 2.5 release version (there were no other versions!) when it came out and a large portion of the population couldn't even access MP. I was told 1.58 was Release and 2.5 was OB and I could not contest that. Release came shortly after and it was in fact the exact same version as OB. Today "Release version" is an older unpatched, and mostly broken version of the new engine. Open Beta is Release version with latest patches applied. It's backwards, but it is what it is. If you want to join a server that is the most up to date version, you need OB. no question As for the # of Steam downloads vs player time, that's easy to understand. Since DCS is free anyone can downloaded it. But only hardcore milsim study sim players will appreciate its complexities and stick it out. An arcade twitch player will load the game up, see how much time he will need to invest just to just start a plane, close the game and move on to War Thunder. Study sims will always have a absolutely small fraction of the player base of arcade games. I read a review on Steam where some idiot claimed this was a pay to win game that required spending hundreds of dollars to acquire all aircraft!

the best app I found to automate process tweaking is process lasso. Once set you ill never have to make changes again. Here's a great thread with pdf to help: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203614 Before I was unable to even play any MP since 2.1 (after a patch mid 2017), but now I have no issues loading other than in-game crashes, lag spikes, stutters which are standard fare with 2.5. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203614

Game STILL cannot handle audio output device change while game is running!!
Dagger71 replied to D4n's topic in Sound Bugs
Sounds like it's a problem on your side, since you even state your Windows almost broke you SB. No problems switching audio output can be done while game is running. -
That's so weird. 2.51 came out April 25 but yet May 4, 5 and 10th you kept posting you couldn't connect.

[REPORTED] Still 2-3 minutes 2-3 fps in lobby.

yup known memory issue since 2.5 came out. -
Of all the current online servers, I think I saw two that use mods (and one was password locked). We have enough issues with DCS without adding mods to somewhat functional multiplayer servers at this point. If DCS ever grows to even 1/100th of ARMA3's player base, and DCS provides a robust SDK, then I'd be inclined to think investing in some sort of mod repository. We are a long time away from that. Besides Daniel's initial request was he wants to play his mods on any server and thinks that providing 3d textures is all that is needed for those who do not have the mod,to be able to join and interact with his mods. It's not.

not a bug. There are no flaps in M2K. You talking about dive brakes and they will not work when out of fuel and engine stopped. From the manual Additionally, there is a reserve electrical pump (EP) which is connected to system 2 and that automatically starts when the pressure in system 2 fells below 160 bars. This pump provides 190 bars of pressure only, for flight controls and parking brake/emergency brakes accumulator. Now if you run out of fuel, you only have a short time of battery life so it will not work for long. Out of fuel mean M2K is now a lawn dart with no input/control once battery dies (which is rather quick if you have all systems on). Remember this is a FBW plane.

what server You also realize most loading bars in games are a gimmick right? many processes that need to be calculated cannot be predicted hence the reason that a bar will stall at one area. -
Did you load up a sp mission? Are you aware of all the memory issues affecting loading times for all servers including DDS??

Create server variable "FC3radarWarmUp" for multiplayer.
Dagger71 replied to D4n's topic in DCS Core Wish List
takes about 4:30 seconds to go from cold start, with 0 fuel and 0 weapons to airborne with radar emitting. in fact if you do things right it will take under 40secs for the radar to be active after wheels up. -
From a cold start 0 fuel 0 weapons or guns, times are as follows : prior to doing anything I put radar in PCH mode 1:45 to finish auto start up 0:47 secs more to complete refuel/rearm 100% 1:18 min to taxi to runway and wheels up 0:39 seconds for radar to be ready total 4:31 from empty cold start to airborne and radar active. at maykop. If you are at 7mins you are doing something very wrong wrong.

Besides 3d models and textures are not enough for players to interact with the modded planes/units. EVERYONE on the server needs the ALL the files associated with the mod. just as you cannot start a single player game with just models textures. it does not work like that. AS for how ED does it with DCS retail products , everyone gets the files to interact with modules you do not have, but you do not get cockpit or some config files.
-
NO WAY! do not unknowingly force clients to download mods that can severely impact their ability to play on other servers. Not to mention forcing mods that people do not want. some mods may even break the game. Arma does not do this either. it gives option to download through workshop but it does not force it on through mission files. Currently you can see which mods a server allows, so go find it download it and voila. But do not force it on clients. Besides I doubt ED would ever this. potentially disastrous from a QA QC stand point. There is not a game on the market that I know of that allows this.
-
If a server has any mods all players will need those mods to join.

So it looks like the issue resurfaced in a bad way again since last patch. it kind of disappeared just pre2.0, but noticing it's much worse since last patch and even weirder things are happening. Had a lock on special modem lost lock and the rad screen for a few seconds had several contacts within the cone (which should NEVER happpen in CCM). It's worse now then it has ever been!

Don't you have a low budget ISP that forcibly changes IP every 24 hours?

Dagger71 replied to D4n's topic in DCS Core Wish List
If your base is being attacked by ground units, the Mirage should be the last vehicle you spawn. Secondly, do you use external power to warm up before engine starts?/? All modules DCS and FC3 have 0 fuel 0 weapons on DDS so every one of them has a delay. I'm not sure what the problem is?
