  1. I have just killed this thing on the WAR server with a ARM missile, however I can't seem to find any mention of it in the Encyclopedia or the manual. What is it?
  2. Well, that's what puzzles me. Why does a Roland battery need this thing, if the Roland launcher has its own radar which has a range of 20-25 km and having a second radar with a range increase of approximately one third is kind of excessive... And another thing... EWR stands for early warning radar - and it's depiction on the Beryoza should be second from the right. P.S. By the way, the dish of the Roland EWR is remarkably similar to the dish on top of the Roland launcher...
  3. In the attached picture the SPO Beryoza of the Su-25T depicts the Roland search radar as a short range radar. Note that the radar in question is a standalone radar (the one with an extending arm)- not the Roland launchers mounted on the Marder chassis. Could this be a mistake? Why would anyone need another standalone short range radar if the Marder Roland launcher already has one. I would think that it should be at least a medium range radar, wouldn't it?
  4. According to the Wikipedia the HAWK SAM had 6 modifications, with changes made to the missile itself, as well as to the quantity and capability of radars. In DCSW we have two HAWK radars, which should point us at the final iteration of the HAWK - the HAWK XXI, which is equipped with a HPIR and a Sentinel Radar. However the radars in DCSW are a HPIR and a PAR radar and, if I understand correctly, there was no such combination in real life. So it is either we have the wrong radar in the case of the HAWK XXI or someone forgot to model an appropriate CWAR and/or ROR radar for the other HAWK modifications. Given that the HPIR radar in DCSW is, if I am not mistaken, an AN/MPQ-46, so the HAWK modification in game should be Improved Hawk (1971) or PIP Phase I (1979) both of which should incorporate a CWAR and ROR radar. So which HAWK do we have? The reason I'm asking is that I am trying to create a SEAD mission which will realistically reflect real world SAM placement, battery composition etc. and, apparently, this can not be achieved... A HAWK battery should also have a TSW-8 Battery Control Central, ICC Information Coordination Central and an MSW-11 Platoon Command Post, which are not modeled in DCSW, however I guess I can use their counterparts from the Patriot battery, as it will not affect gameplay. Here's a link to the Wikipedia's article - there is a table of HAWK radars used in different modifications: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIM-23_Hawk
  5. When i trim the Su-25T the some of the three trim lights in the cockpit either light up or go out - what does this mean? Does it mean that trim is engaged and in order to untrim the aircraft I need to make the lights go out or do the lights mean that the plane is trimmed for level flight.... maybe something else?
  6. My mistake :-)))) Guess I just wasn't ready for an unidentified flying square around my plane after getting used to all that realism and high fidelity ;-) This thread can be deleted then.
  7. The last update which introduced new interactive missions for the Su-25T probably has something wrong with it in the training lesson about CCIP. Images enclosed. I do not experience any video artifacts in other missions or training lessons - only this one, so I doubt that it is connected with my computer.
  8. Great! So I slew the Phantasmagoria's seeker to the target, lock it and fire while there is still no launch authorisation, right?
  9. Aha! That's interesting. By "lock" You mean getting the Shkval to track the target and, subsequently, slaving the laser to it? So overriding would not bring any benefit to ARM missiles?
  10. Thanks. But how is it applicable in a real life scenario? Do any of the SU-25T's weapons have lock on after launch capability? Or flying fast and high I can launch from a larger distance then is normally allowed?
  11. How do I engage launch override in Su-25T and how do I use it? For which weapons can it be used? I mean if launching from a bigger distance I should probably have high speed and altitude, right? Or is there anything else to it?
  12. I believe this is done on purpose, because up to a certain DCSW version SAMS used to fire on you once they had a lock, which made evading them very easy. Now they wait and fire only when you are well within the engagement envelope. eXPeRT Can you help me recreate ARM explosions in singleplayer? I have created a mission with a Hawk launcher, a PAR and HPR radar. With or without other aircraft, in different combinations of radars I always seem to hit with no missiles exploding whatsoever. I also made sure that I am not the primary target and still managed to hit the radars - what am I doing wrong?
  14. You are right - that worked, thanks!
  15. My mistake - I can't seem to figure out how to edit the topic name. I have managed to land on the carrier - thank you all :-)
  16. Every time I attempt to land my Huey on the Carl Vinson CVN I fall through the deck - is it my poor landing skills, or landing on aircraft carriers is not implemented yet?
  17. Great! Thanks - I'll try that :-)
  18. Assigning a modifier apparently does not allow to use the assigned button as a button. I have assigned a button on my joystick to act as a modifier to the HAT to slew the target box seeker of the Shkval on S-25T, however assigning the same button as a standalone button is now impossible. Is there a reason for that, or is it a feature and not a bug?
  19. Clicking on an airfield to make it belong to my coalition worked, however now I can't seem to rearm my Huey. What can be the case? And what does the Suppliers button do in the window where I define to which coalition the airfield belongs to?
  20. Strange that it is turned off by default, then - thanks :-)
  21. I want to assign Center View and Normal Zoom to a single button, because I don't have TrackIR and I haven't been able to make FacenoIR work (most likely it's me doing something wrong). I am forced to use the mouse to look around and the scroll button to zoom and pushing one button to center and another to return zoom to normal is to lengthy. Doing it in one keystroke would be much convenient.
  22. Thanks Suchacz, but realistically in real life - can the rudder be trimmed in UH-1H or Mi-8?
  23. Does the Huey trim affect rudder? No matter what I do - it doesn't seem to get trimmed...
  24. By centering the trimmer You mean turning trim off (LControl T)?
  25. Just what exactly is it that RShift R is doing to the SPO Beryoza? The SU-25T manual states that it cuts emitters operating in aquisition mode, but what does it leave then? Tracking mode? Or something else?
