  1. Am I the only one who finds the static scenery objects confusing? I mean there are helicopters, aircraft and ground vehicles that act as scenery, not as real objects. And only when you destroy them you find out that it was a building, not a unit. And you have wasted a missile. Maybe the player should get a score when he kills a stationary scenery unit which is also available as a unit in the game? I am not complaining, however it is a shame to get to an enemy airfield and spend half of your Vikhrs on static objects which have no influence on the outcome of the mission. And telling them apart from real units at a distance is not an easy matter.

    That is strange - I also got disconnected from the Stress Test server yesterday, although it was the same mission I flew a couple of days ago for 3 hours on another server without a glitch. Could be something wrong with the server...

  5. Wow - me bad then - where can I read more on that? In my case I usually have to spend one Vikhr for an MBT - it is only rarely that I need two - I thought that was due to near misses.
  6. This is incorrect! Unfortunately the current damage model does not include different vulnerability for different sides of a vehicle. This is incorrect!
  7. Today I was evading a missile shot by a Roland. I dropped some chaff, made a hard turn and the SPO-15 RWR stopped indicating that I was targeted. Assuming that the missile was still there I maintained my current heading to ensure that it would not get updated information on my position in case the targeting radar got track of me again. In about 10 seconds I was shot out of the sky. Is there something wrong with my evasion tactic, or is it possible that the SPO-15 RWR has deadzones, so that I may be tracked by a missile and not know it? I mean - the RWR definitely has antennas which have a certain direction diagram which should be limited in its sensitiveness in certain directions, or plainly does not see emissions at certain angels.
  8. Wrong :-) We need DCSW to be fully multithreaded, not limited to a fixed amount of cores, otherwise the situation would not be fundamentally different from the current one. Unfortunately, as SkateZilla stated above, it is not a trivial matter. And the question of creating multithreaded applications has been on top of the table ever since CPU's with multiple cores appeared on the market, however multithreadible applications are still not all that common. Personally, I bear high hopes on EDGE in this context, however - they are a fruit of my imagination only ;-) eXPeRT I have read your posts about SEAD and the way you do it is amazing, however, I must disagree - unfortunately RAM timings have little or no influence not only on DCSW, but on most games these days. If you are interested we can run a comparison test with background running monitoring software. I would be the first to be happy if overclocking RAM helped increase FPS in DSCW, but it doesn't :-( The same applies to sound. Sound in DSCW works on a separate core - graphics performance is not influenced by it since graphics are being done on another core. P.S. I still don't get it how you manage to land on target both Kh-58 and Kh-25MPU without them being shot by Tor's, but that is probably a question for another topic.
  9. I wonder if there a reason why ED does not program DSCW to stay on a specific core, if that influences FPS. Unless it is up to Windows to decide which core to use.
  10. I think you have set it to different cores instead of one. It should be 0 and 1, 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7.
  11. SkateZilla How do you cap FPS? I also suffer from tearing, but enabling Vsync makes the game much less responsive.
  12. I have tried to play with affinity and priority set and I am experiencing regular sound losses and microfreezes. Probably this method is not helping me...
  13. I am baffled - here are my results obtained by allowing the Su-25T to fly by itself in the same simple mission. FPS measured by FRAPS Default settings: Avg: 65.500 - Min: 60 - Max: 71 Affinity set to one CPU module (two cores): Avg: 60.283 - Min: 56 - Max: 68 Default settings, Realtime priority for dcs.exe: Avg: 58.000 - Min: 53 - Max: 62 Affinity set to one CPU module (two cores), Realtime priority for dcs.exe::shocking: Avg: 64.150 - Min: 58 - Max: 69
  14. I suggest, that the ingame Encyclopedia takes the information on technical specifications of a particular vehicle, unit, missile from the corresponding .lua files directly. Such information as maximum speed, range, radar ranges etc. That way we will not have a discrepancy between the Encyclopedia and the actual characteristics, as we have now. Secondly - the programmers won't have to change the same thing in two separate places which should make their life easier and bug free.
  15. Don't bother - none of my track files work, for some reason. The other two I have simply show me the map without anything happening. When I press Pause, the game shows the loading screen for a second and then it's map view again. I've attached them. Since this is from multiplayer, could it be that the server does something tho the track files to prevent them being watched? P.S. Running version 1.2.7 P.P.S. Definitely something with the track files I have from the WAR server - I have just flown the Su-25T and recorded a track and it plays back normally. client-20131229-111346.trk client-20131229-112259.trk
  16. Well, that's the reason I'm asking - when I load up the track it pops up a window listing aircraft I can play, after I choose the one I flew and press Pause it starts the mission, however I control the aircraft - the stick moves according to my input.
  17. How can I watch the track file. After the game there is an option to do it, but after I restart DCSW there is no apparent way to do that. Pressing Replay allows me to replay the mission, but not watch what is recorded in the track...

  20. I have tried changing the modes of Autopilot while flying the Su-25T and the lights on the ACS panel do not change no matter what mode I choose. Changing from altitude hold to altitude and roll hold does not show any difference in flying the aircraft - is this a known bug, or am I doing something wrong?

  22. Can anyone submit real DCSW FPS figures for Windows 7 and Windows 8? Here is a mission http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=85338&d=1374853944 Load FRAPS, start DSCW, put the throttle into medium position, run the mission and start FRAPS - preferably at the same time for both Windows versions. Let it run for 60 seconds and repeat for the other Windows. Do not touch the controls, so that the conditions during the test are the same. Personally I find it strange, that you guys are saying that Windows 8 shows better performance in DCSW since DCSW does not support DirectX 11.1. Anyone?
  23. Когда я связывюсь с аэродромами, то в пункте меню радио, (Ф5), есть список аэродромов, судя по всему отранжированный по их территориальной близости к моему аэродрому. Но в списке нет собственно географических названий, а есть позывные. Как узнать какой позывной принадлежит какому аэродрому? И еще - несут ли какую-то смысловую нагрузку позывные самолетов - Сократ, Открытка и прочие?

  25. I have just unplugged my mouse and ran a test - the performance loss is still there.
