  1. Just for information - the site of Tunguska's developer - Instrument design Bureau lists 3,5 km as maximum ceiling for the SAM. http://www.kbptula.ru/en/productions/air-defense-weapon-systems/tunguska-m1
  3. Is this realistic? it is currently impossible to hit a moving SAM vehicle with an ARM. If launched at a moving target, wouldn't the ARM correct it's heading after launch IRL? From the way it behaves in DCSW it looks as if it flies to the last known position of the SAM vehicle, though I thought that an ARM would do that only if the SAM vehicle stops emitting. However when I create a mission with a moving active Tor, I always seem to miss. The missiles seem to explode behind the TOR without destroying it.
  4. Actually, You can see 360 degrees around you with the help of the SPO-15 "Beryoza" (RWR), with the exception of some deadzones. It is quite handy.
  5. skendzie Did you make the SAMs belong to the opposing coalition?
  6. I have created a mission with me flying directly at a Tunguska at different altitudes. I am being hit at up to 4500 m. At an altitude of more than 5000 m the Tunguska is just following me, without firing. The Wikipedia suggests that the 9M311 missile has a maximum altitude of 3.5 km. The same is stated by the missiles_data.lua file - "H_max = 3500.0" Is this a bug? Or is this done for gameplay reasons? And another thing - supposedly, the 9M311 guidance is semiradiocommand with an optical line. I can understand that a missile can be fired at me optically without any warning on the RWR, but shouldn't I get a warning when it gets active? I don't. In the Su-25T I am painted by radar, than it stops painting and I get hit. Can someone, please, explain this to me?
  10. Why are You guys saying, that the Cessna 172 in FSX has a bad flight model? If I recall correctly, MSFS was actually certified for use in real pilot training. I believe you could log several hours on it towards getting a real pilots license. Would that be possible with a bad flight model? P.S. I got myself the FSX on the New Year sale from STEAM for something like a dollar :-) Now I'm having second thoughts about my money being well spent :-)))
  11. I am having problems understanding when to fire in HOJ mode. I see rows of rectangles on my radar. I put the traget designator box over one of them and press Lock. I get a line through the rectangles, supposedly showing the direction to the emitter. I fly towards it and never get any cue as to when to fire. At some point I burn through and use the STT or TWS mode to fire - but shouldn't I be able to fire the AIM-120 in HOJ mode too? Without it giving the enemy any warning of launch?
  12. Absolutely not. But it puzzles me, since I have not heard this particular piece in any of their new trailers. Even in the parts, which, I am pretty sure, used it originally. Hopefully I am wrong - for me the soundtrack was a major part of the game's attractiveness.
  13. Apparently they have also changed the soundtrack. For me - Homeworld without the Samuel Barber's "Agnus Dei" will never be the same thing.
  14. I haven't tried this mod personally, but, apparently, we already have a civilian aircraft :-) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137746&highlight=Twin+Otter%5C
  15. Actually, I think that ED stopped it's weekly updates, because of threads like this :megalol: People used to complain and whine all the time and the updates where deemed nonproductive.
  16. Milk is a waste of pints, if You ask me. You should have gone with that other product ;-)
  17. Учитывая то, что разработчик, в своем большинстве, российский, вполне "логично" предположить, что его политика направлена на нерф российских же ракет... ;-) Sarcasm mode=off
  18. We're definitely getting some stealth platform - 100%! ;-) P.S. Oh and a new weather engine is confirmed!
  19. I would love to fly an An-2 type of aircraft! I imagine a scenario, when in a combat mission, one can undertake an assignment of transporting vitally needed supplies to a stranded detachment, or fly a high ranking officer to the front. I could ask for air cover and fly nap of the earth while my comrades fight off the enemies trying to shoot me out of the sky. And when I complete the mission, my side gets bonus points, or extra missiles thus swinging the tide of war to my side's favor. There are a lot of An-2s still flying around, so I would imagine, that making an An-2 module shouldn't be too difficult. P.S. A Fieseler Storch maybe?
  20. That's the problem - I don't own a TrackIR, so, after merging, I always loose eye contact... Maybe I should try looking into the Padlock view.
  21. I asked on the Russian forum and got help :-) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130126 On the photo I did it wrong and a guy has drawn a oicture of how it should be done right: This is a view from above with the bottom circle being the joystick, and the upper circle is that square thing on it. Essentially - the ends of the metal spring should be done the other way around - opposite to the photo I posted in that topic. If this is still unclear I'll try to formulate this differently - my technical English is not that good...
  22. In the F-15C I raise the nose to 30 degrees and then start rolling it with a slight backward movement of the stick. However what I accomplish by that hardly resembles a barrel roll - more like a traditional roll. What I fail to understand is how to make the nose of my F-15 make a circle around a certain point on the horizon - once the wings come close to vertical, the plane, predictably, looses lift and starts slipping to the ground. If I fight that slipping by increasing the roll rate - the barrel roll becomes a plain roll - what am I doing wrong? Here is an explanation from Wikipedia:
  23. What is the optimal way to scan for enemies? Do you roll a bit and let the plane make a 360 degree turn while switching the radar cone up and down, waiting for the carets ?to make a full seep Do you do that twice - once with High PRF and once with Medium? It is quite often, that I loose sight of the enemy after merging and fail to locate him afterwards no matter what I do. Then - looking at the mission in Tacview I understand that I was searching in the right direction but didn't see the bogey anyway... Maybe a better tactic would be to disengage if I loose the bandit?
