Plenty of information tonight over at the BoS forum sir (^.-)

In anticipation of two WW2 combat flight sims, I would like to start this thread on the KG13 (Knüppel Griff 13; used in the Bf.109, Fw.190, Me.262 and copied in Russian fighters like the La-7 and "modern" L-29). From the ATAG forum and VKB FSC Europe's Eduard; http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5957. VKB plans to release a metal KG13-like grip (from the La-7) in Q1 2014, to go with their upcoming Fat Black Mamba base (Su-27 like plastic grip, metal base). VKB FSC Europe website; http://flightsimcontrols.com/. Finally a ready-made grip for us WW2 aficionados. VKB is also depeloping an interface for the Thrustmaster Warthog flightstick, for said Fat Black Mamba base. For the hardcore hobbyist, there is VO101MMaister's excellent KG13 project as an appetizer; http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3133178/1. This project uses a Hungarian-made aluminium KG13 mould as base.

G00d find! (^.-) I propose using correct unit markings, since we are a lot of hard-to-please armchair combat pilots anyway. If using the correct Waffen-SS unit markings is too sensitive (although I don't know why a single pink Sig-rune of the s.Pz.Abt 102, IInd SS Panzer Korps should be found offensive), at least use Panzer-Lehr-Division unit markings. Let's do this right from the beginning ... -

Okay, so if this is SS-Unterscharführer Willy Fey's (disputed Knight's Cross holder) tank it should have s.Pz.Abt 102, IInd SS Panzer Korps unit markings ... being a pink Sig-rune (pics in spoiler below). Other than the "134" not having the correct unit markings and wrong camo pattern for s.Pz.Abt 102 (wave pattern), the displayed camo pattern is pretty common for 1944 Normandy; "By 1944 virtually all German armour was painted in the official scheme of a sand base. Camouflage on top of that was at the discretion of unit commanders, they were provided green and rust brown paint for the purpose, patterns were up to them but irregular blotches and stripes were pretty common." Bring on the Tommy cookers! http://www.panzerace.net/pz-forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=653 -

Nice Tiger ... needs MG34 and correct unit markings. Preferably Waffen-SS, since most Tigers in Normandy were. Will this be in-game detail? If so, that's pretty amazing! Brings back memories of the T-34 vs. Tiger game ... damn sniping AI T-34s that could see through trees! "Laden ... Geladen ... Achtung ... Feuer!" -
DCS: Spitfire Mk LF IXc Discussion
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to Yo-Yo's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Will the pilot be modelled with "stiff upper lip"? Love the look of disgust on his face when he enters the Bf.109 (^,^) -
I would ask Jamal aka Spins321 ...
-
Me-262 within reach - will you get it?
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to MACADEMIC's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Looks like they offered their services to the American jugs as well ... -
Of course I love the Bf.109, but it's not about me. I really liked your dynamic logo, with a warbird coming towards you and that black/grey/blood red colour scheme. Considering this is a WWII flight sim, how about some nose art inspired logo? Think Peter Driben meets Adler ... that takes care of the "Europe" and "1944" part.
-
Very nice analog feeling ... bit dark on the inside though. Yesterday's was more clean ... I liked "ww2" better. Or do something like wIIw, "1944" slightly tilted "Star Wars"-style. RRG instead of DCS.
-
It's a Panavia Tornado ... would love that for DCS: World. Maybe use the "Wulfe Hound" Beute B-17 instead ... Kampfgeschwader 200.
-
Reminds me of Advanced Squad Leader and other WWII board games ... I should really revisit some this winter.
-
Berlin? "Change the outcome of WWII" ... I think not. Would be a nice mission to fly some general out to safety in a Storch though.
-
The Expendables meets Captain America ... very nice find! I'd like to see those wings sharper, and soften the text a bit. Also use red flames inside the text for dramatic effect. Both logo's are differently sized, so could be used in different places.
-
The black/grey/blood red one is fantastic! Actually, they both are ... liking the sharper "DCS" text in black. Stick with "ww2".
-
Oh yes, great movie as well. Too bad Sean Connery is nearing Valhalla too ... I remember the start my of college days now, when they showed "The Hunt for Red October" on TV around Christmas ... † Rest in peace
-
The blue background. My favorite colour combo is red, grey, black and some wood colour. I noticed you also changed the "WW" outline to white, nice. Kind of reminds me of the "Axis & Allies" board game series country markers.
-
Not too shabby though ... background blood red would do it for me.

You pretty much nailed it there cichlidfan ... nice find, though I will probably go with a German-build "Bakelit Telefon". A little over budget, but ... http://www.ebay.de/itm/neuwertiges-W48-altes-Telefon-antik-Post-Bakelit-W-48-Fernsprecher-wie-Neu-/200968376111. The 3D-program you mention is definitely over my budget SkateZilla; I have the (30-day free) 3ds Max 2010 32-bit demo installed, but don't know what to do with half of those buttons. Since EDGE is 64-bit(?), is there a big difference in model result if you use a 64-bit versus 32-bit 3D-program? Please excuse my ignorance. Amazing what kind of quality models you can find for free ... take this Kübelwagen for example. -

Very nice water indeed and inviting to U-boats. Looking at that video Ilya posted, I so want that phone. Come to think of it; this may finally get me into 3D modelling, so this project is worth every buck spent. What kind of program would I need for 3D modelling ... would Blender do?
