Plenty of aerial photographs can be found using Google's search functionality. A link with interactive (mouse-over for zoom) aerial photographs of (among others) Pegasus bridge and "the fortified village of Galmanche, near Caen"; http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/interactive-high-resolution-aerial-images-from-the-second-world-war/article4233358/?from=4234394. The field with abandoned Horsa gliders looks pretty eerie. Pegasus bridge: Galmanche (note the "field of fire cleared" mid-left-bottom):

Planes of DCS WWII: Europe 1944
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Thanks Royraiden ... I thoroughly enjoyed watching that whole video! -
Hello Kirill, it's very nice to see you here. You mentioned in the Kickstarter video that it's an interesting process to recreate something that existed in the past. Could you shed some light on the particular resources you are using; eg. books you are reading, maps and photographs you are using for reference? Will we also be seeing the realities of war? Towns turned to rubble, displaced families? Think ruins, rubble in the streets, water-filled craters, carcasses in the fields, burned-out Panzers, discarded plywood gliders and parachutes (airborne infantry). http://life.time.com/history/after-d-day-unpublished-color-photos-from-normandy-summer-1944/#1

llya on cross capatibility of aircraft

The concept is to have module compatibility between DCS: World and DCS: WWII. So in short, yes. -
Ground Units in DCS WWII: Europe 1944?
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to mwd2's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Hopefully Ilya picked up on it. Beczl knows his modeling, see below S-60 (just past WWII era, 1950's). Those Hitlerjugend units will look good (^.^) -
Ground Units in DCS WWII: Europe 1944?

Per Ilya's statement on Kickstarter tonight, I don't get the impression he is opposed to the idea of the community providing content. I take it you have seen some of Beczl's other work? Why reinvent the wheel when it's already out there ... all it needs is correct markings. Honestly, I don't know how RRG could do a better (eg.) Köningstiger with Zimmerit given the task at hand and with time constraints. I'd rather have RRG focus on making the base world (map, weather) and plane models as detailed as possible. I really like the community effort idea. -

Non-RRG, but Beczl (3rd party) has some nicely done WWII models already that would fit in with DCS: Combined Arms. -
Indeed, this is the proper way to counter the complaints. I'm contemplating the Mil-8, even though I'm more interested in WWII birds and not into flying coffee grinders. But, I have a weak spot for Russian hardware since the 1995 Digital Integration Mi-24 Hind game. So, sales like these do pay off ...

DCS WWII: Europe 1944
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to recoilfx's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I second that; British coastline and airfields first please. You're already working on landscaping the Normandy coastline, so the British coastline would be easier to realize in the set timeframe. The B-17 is a project in itself and deserves to be done properly, not in a rush for release and eating the funding of the core game. It will sell itself easily once done. Now, if you could do the cockpit like the MiG-21Bis one (gritty, like many crews have been using her) ... -
Thank you for the clear explanation Yo-Yo. It's quite a power loss (100 hp over 500 mtr. altitude) to let the compressor kick in so that the power graph will remain linear and not drop after 3000 mtr. altitude. Interested to see how this compares to the P-51D engine, although of course the flight model is a big contributor too (drag).
-
Yay! (^.^)b "By preoccupations with a saving in gasoline on version A, the compressor engaged automatically only between 2700 and 3000 meters of altitude; an interlocking with the request was nevertheless possible by the pilot with lower altitudes". So that jump in manifold pressure and horsepower between 2700-3000 mtr. altitude is the compressor automatically kicking in. Is it possible to let it kick in earlier manually to get a more fluid hp graph? Otherwise, I'll be avoiding the 3000 meter dogfights (compressor engaging/disengaging).
-
(^.-) Nice job Yo-yo ... I love looking at graphs. 2100 hp with supercharger & MW50 at take off ... So there won't be MW50?

About 2000 potential customers?
Hans-Joachim Marseille replied to mazex's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
As I see it, this thread is about the possibility to get more of the "other sim" to pledge. In my case, I've pledged and will also purchase the "other sim". I care for decent WWII sims, regardless of bad sentiments (which have no place here). -

Nice one Charly ... good, to-the-point summary and strong selling points. They should hire you to do the marketing part. Liking the nod to IL-2 CloD (^.-) -

Why not bet on two horses? You don't have to spend all on one. Standard edition BoS goes for $50, with early access in winter. Premium goes for $90, with early access in autumn and two extra planes (La-5 and FW-190 A-3). Love the Bf 109 and He 111, which are included in the base set of 8 planes. Ah, the Heinkel ... Anyone seen this movie? Pretty decent flick, based on a true story. -

A Chinese IL-2 BoS forum member translated the DCS WWII Kickstarter and P-51D manual in Chinese ... pretty nice chap. Now imagine the numbers you'd get with Chinese gamers in. This was posted on the BoS forum, DCS section today. http://bbs.dof.cn/index.php?showtopic=110526 http://bbs.dof.cn/index.php?showtopic=109339 -

Stretch goal at 200k?

The fact that the Gods don't act (fast enough, in our feeling) does not imply that they are not listening. -

Actually, that is a very good idea ... visualizing pledges by map stretch progress, adding in stretch-goal planes and all. -

I notice more and more how positively involved the ATAG guys are. Which reminded me to sign up to their forum (^.^) Hope they and Merlin will have a MP server once the game is finally released. -

This. And someone that goes by the name of GlowingAmraam and/or W0lfpackproduction needs to come out of hiatus ... there's need for a game trailer.
