I apologise for my lack of Italian language skills, I'm reading this through Google Translate, however I'm sorry to hear this, it would have been great addition to DCS and I hope someone picks up the Starfighter mantle, La speranza è l'ultima a morire....

Stand up and be counted all ye Mi-8 operators

So, thoughts on the flight model as it stands? Tempted, but being a helicopter novice I'm wary of getting something with the FM possessing "new and innovative flying challenges" like the Huey did initially.... -
Is there a change log for the current update available in English? Now just to get home to start the update..... :pilotfly:

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer

Thanks for the info, appreciate the heads up and am looking forward to seeing where you have got to. Although sure as night follows day, you are still going to be dealing with the 'comprehension impaired' who will moan that it doesn't look like {insert title of generic graphics heavy shooter here}... -
Just in case anyone else is wondering the same thing, you can subscribe here: http://lockon.co.uk/en/personal/subscribe/ Thanks const!

Thanks! -
I'd settle for it being smart enough not to tell another aircraft to start a back taxi whilst I'm turning round to take off at the end of the runway at Belsan.... It's a small scale Pan Am / KLM disaster each time....

That's disappointing.... I'm happy enough with a sim 'to the limits of historical data', but there's no excuse for sloppy research that even a glancee at Wikipedia would fix. But it's free to try so I might see if my croaky old machine can cope. Anyway, thanks and sorry for the thread drift!

I hate to point it out that Thunderbolt II is the official name for all variations of the A-10. If you don't believe me have a look at the Boeing website: http://www.boeing.com/boeing/defense-space/support/maintenance/a10/ Warthog is the nickname applied by the rest of the world and was in existance before the A-10C was even a twinkle in a Boeing engineer's eye... In fact here's a 1992 article that uses the nickname Warthog: http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_product=FV&p_theme=fv&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_topdoc=1&p_text_direct-0=0F54F5681C0F4BA2&p_field_direct-0=document_id&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&s_trackval=GooglePM Easy enough mistake to make whilst plastered and with a credit card burning a hole in your pocket.... :megalol: -
That's very true. Accuracy is as much about the absolute, the measurable and the individual nuances as well as the subjective "convincingness" of the flight model... You can immerse someone in a fantasy world and they will "feel accuracy" as long as they have no basis on which to question it. One of the things War Thunder (to take a good example) does well (imho) is have a model that is relatively fluid, that doesn't feel too much like you flip a hard switch to get from, say, normal flight to a spin departure, it "feels" convincing, and maybe the key flight data (e.g. performance at various altitudes) can be made to match real numbers, so it gets a lot of uninformed accolades about it being a great sim because it is reasonably convincing, there are no obvious jagged edges and it is immersive. One of the biggest giveaway that it's not "accurate", at least not in the sense DCS aims for (and sometimes achieves), is the canned response to departure from controlled flight. Each aircraft may feel different, may even have varying levels of forgivingness, but outside simple well controlled flight, it's all the same basic spin model, a biplane spins very much like a mid war fighter. To give a real world example, I've flown very similar types with wildly varying spin characteristics, one might tuck under on recovery but spins as if it is on rails, another similar type might be nose down at 1/2 a turn, but have it's nose above the horizon at 1 complete turn and nod like a wild horse until recovery. I guess what I'd really like to find out to what extent RoF gets to the real nitpicky bones of accuracy of flight model, and to what extent it is just the same aircraft re-packaged with a few parameter tweaks, because for me the aircraft specific nuances are what turn a procedure trainer *coughFSXcough* into a truely great flight sim. Apologies for the massive thread drift! Cheers, Jamie

Slight thread drift, but is the general (informed) consensus that it's good/bad/ugly accuracy wise?

I'll drink to that!

+1 Wait until there are competing warbirds with people as emotionally invested in 'their bird' as they currently are in th F15/SU27 debates....

They can always fix them in 1.2.6.x. It's not the end of the world :) -
:megalol: Go browse the forum for il-2/CoD/any WW2 aircraft MMO, the endless vitriolic debates about planes being O/P will change your mind quickly... This forum may have a few angsty types, but they are nothing compared to the mass legions of whiners and biters that inhabit those forums.... Hell even the Kerbal Space Program forums are worse than here!

As an aside, now that updates are moving to the newsletter, how do we subscribe? I clicked no when I first signed up on the main site (reflex!), but there doesn't appear to be an option to resubscribe...

Standing in the rain with burnt sausages in a soggy bap, wearing a 'kiss the cook' apron and moaning about the weather doesn't count as a barbecue....

They do a better barbecue than any other Blue force nation..... And they have Hornets and will be getting the F35 :)

Now that's a much improved intro for Steam! Definitely more appealing to the casual viewer. Perhaps it should be the first video shown rather than the very informative, but rather tedious 32 minute masterpiece...?

+1 If you don't like it, don't read it. It's not as if it's not clear what it is from the title :)

Take a look at around 0:24 onwards for a good example of what he is talking about (I think): xOyRSTctlZ8 Game is Aerofly. Alternatively (0:36 onwards): kjphcHahY-s
