  1. Oh and per the thread title, Mk V AND Mk IX?
  2. Yo-Yo, you continue to make me a very happy man.... Spits all the way!
  3. eurofor is absolutely correct about Mach tuck, however the best way to anticipate this is not to look at the normal ASI, but to look at the Mach indicator (labeled "M" in the picture below) You are limited to 0.85 Mach and anything above that you risk loosing control. If you do, throttle down, airbrakes open and if desperate try rolling inverted so you tuck away from the ground (not sure how realistic the last one is but it seems to work in game). Cheers, Jamie
  4. Unlikely, the 'mission accomplished' update says they are closing down the PayPal site now. He does mention running another separate kickstarter when they have something to show in order to fund other planes but current pledges will be final it seems. Cheers, Jamie
  5. But, if it works, you'll still get it. In a small niche like this, you don't get many options, if this works (which, given we already have an engine and we have ED backing it by tying their brand to this, I'm comfortable is a safe bet), I'd put money on an awful lot of those "after Clod, never again" types downloading it and developing selective amnesia. $1 will get you access to 3 flyables, that's less than the cost of a cup of coffee. Seriously, it's not that much of a risk, it just doesn't make financial sense not to.... Quite frankly if you can't gamble $1, I don't know how you can afford the electricity to run your sim pc, never mind afford to start simming in the first place!
  6. From Ilya's transcript: Whatever else happens, today is a good day! :pilotfly:
  7. Oh I dunno... Getting acquainted with this might be fun:
  8. Yes that's the reason behind it. Posts #3-5in this thread give the solution.
  9. Don't overlook the SU25, it flies beautifully and is one of the most fun modules if you like steam instruments and gung-ho ground attack  It's so much more fun than it's fat older brother the T model and at sale prices it's a steal!
  10. Short answer, you need DCS World plus ONE of the following: Lock On - Modern Air Combat Lock On Gold (which is LOMAC plus FC1) Lock On Platinum (which is LOMAC plus FC2) To get any version of FC installed, you need to have had LOMAC installed at some point, If you have a previous version of FC installed that will do, because you would have had to have had LOMAC installed to get the earlier version to install. You can pick up LOMAC cheapish from UBI (US only) or you will have to scour your local online retailers... Silly system, but it won't change as is part of ED's legal agreement with UBI. Alternatively you can buy individual FC modules as they are released. A10A and SU25 are out now, SU27 and F15 are expected soonish...
  11. Now that's a class move
  12. I think the point of contention is really that it challenges people's assumptions of the value of paying the early adopter premium. If I buy a graphics card on day 1, I know that in about 3 months time it will be down by 10% and in 9 months down by maybe 40% (made up %, but you get the idea). It's broadly standard across the market and whilst you see sales, they aren't that dramatic, at least on recent kit. I, as the informed consumer (don't laugh), can make a decision as to what level of premium is acceptable, is getting it 9 months early worth sacrificing the saving of 40% I would get if I waited. It's fairly simple cost/benefit analysis, for a $1000 graphics card, 9 months of early access costs $400. Rightly or wrongly, there are assumptions about software costs and what level of discounts are available at what time. People are aggrieved because their calculation of cost/benefit for early access was thrown out by an exceptionally early sale (how many non-BST pieces of software have gone for similar discounts at similar times?). BST have every right to put whatever product they want on sale at any time at any price they choose, that's not in question, and presumably they feel that the total NPV of their sales is greater by bringing the deep reduction, and therefore casual sales, forward, in spite of the risk of reducing the % of people in future that will buy at the full release price. That suggests one of three things: They really don't sell many at ful price after the initial release frenzy (most likely) They have bills to pay and need money now, even if the total NPV achieved is lower ED have them over a barrel and the had to go along with it (least likely) BST have every right to maximise their sales, but it does seem counter productive that they did it so obviously and blatantly, no-one likes to feel a fool.... Me, I'm not mad, I'm going to buy myself an Mi-8 :D
  13. Sex on wings, nuff said..... :pilotfly:
  14. Unfortunately it's a legal and not a technical requirement. It will be fixed only by release of the individual FC level modules. Sorry, minor clarification, the A-10A does not have a clickable cockpit. It is 3D and supports 6DoF but it is about as interactive as the old one one (i.e. not at all). Most FC3 aircraft will be upgraded to 6DoF 3D cockpit and AFM (the only queries being the Mig 29 and the Su 33), but they are not going to get to the A-10C level unless they are developed as full DCS level modules, which will be an extra purchase.
  15. +1 Whilst not personally affected (I haven't YET bought the Mi-8 so have no reason to be mad), I do wonder how many more people will now assume that the wait for a sale will be tolerable. If I know I'm not going to be able to get a module I have my heart set on for 6 months unless I buy it full whack, I'd probably buy it. If I thought I could get it in a month on sale, I'd probably chance it. People that will only snap things up in sales will still buy only on price drop but I suspect many people's assumptions of how long they will have to wait between release and sale prices will have changed.
  16. Don't worry, if you don't use it or know what it is then there is no impact on you. It's just an alternative game sales and installation platform. It's only an issue if you choose to use it.... Have a look here: http://store.steampowered.com/about/
  17. Same place as yours buddy  Last time I checked you didn't need a PHD to make an observation. Now do you have a substantive point to make or are we just going to continue trading personal comments?
  18. They may want to attract more customers, but they will probably reduce the number willing to buy at full price next time. Bit of an own goal TBH. And no, I haven't bought it.
  19. It has been promised as an update to FC3, we just don't have a release date yet afaik....
  20. Can you get $19.99 worth of fun out of it even if it never leaves Beta? ;)
  21. Before we get too hot under the collar, the first picture is from TaoBao, not known for being a hub for legitimate software...... Do we know who the seller is? Edit: His description claims he is an ED partner, is this legit? There must be Chinese partners but I've no idea who they are. Nothing stopping a legit partner from having their own sale. The second, is that from the newsletter? I've not seen one come through yet...
  22. It's an assumption based on the following quote: Now this is over 2 days after he posted my original quote. So he can promise them in WWII but can't include licences for them in the rewards (as they stood at that time). That leads to the conclusion that whatever deal he had to use the Mustang and Dora only covered DCS WWII, otherwise he would either not be able to offer them as rewards at all, or giving them would be no problem as he already factored in the licence costs, neither of which were the case. Anyway, this is all speculation (on both sides) unless there is an official statement, and Ilya is MIA at the moment....
  23. Well this is my take on it: Yes, the above ignores the $65 and $80 pledges, but it was a response to queries about the $10-$40 range... I've yet to see convincing evidence to the contrary, although it does assume that a licence can be specifically WWII or DCSW only (even if it's not technically possible now, it could be implemented quite easily in the timeframe we are talking about). I really want this to succeed (and have pledged to reflect that), but RRG aren't exactly covering themselves in glory with this Kickstarter...
