  1. Is it me doing something wrong, or I can access "add to cart" for FC2 in English section of webshop for Russian dload?

Shkval electro-optical targeting system Part 1 Part 2 http://lockon.co.uk/index.php?end_pos=1976&scr=default 1. Introduction: changing direction with pitch, roll and yaw 3. This will be an introductory lesson describing some of the flight information presented on the Heads Up Display (HUD. and essential flight control in pitch, roll, and yaw. 9. The left side of the HUD displays a digital readout of the indicated airspeed (IAS. in knots (nautical miles per hour. . 10. The right side of the HUD displays a digital readout of the barometric altitude above sea level (ASL. . 20. Take note of our current flight parameters. We are flying at 5,000 feet and accelerating to 300 knots on a heading of 360. As we climb and dive, monitor the pitch ladder, the altitude display on the right side of the HUD, and the indicated airspeed (IAS. on the left side of the HUD. [bREAK ROW] between points: 6-7 18-19
  3. Well, since you made the best find, I cannot blame you for quoting the incorrect source ;) Missile is anti-tank rocket M-79 "Osa" (Hornet). Two were mounted under each wing, and that "device" in front of the windshield was a wire frame used for aiming. Sadly, many things were poorly documented, and these pics are about the only pics of this modification. Aicraft below was used by 4th Guards Brigade during Croatian Independence War, and officially was never used by Croatian Air Force (in this form), although CroAF did use Utva 75 in recce and bombing roles. Installation with M-79 "Osa" was not very practical nor successive, but it did produce huge psychological effect :D Utva-75 was produced in Yugoslavia, but was/is used in all six successive republics (now independent states), as civil trainer, military trainer and military combat aircraft, in Air Forces and Armies of respective republics and by insurgents and local forces. Aircraft itself was next to a crap. It was about only basic trainer in the world that had huge warning over ins board that said "Aerobatics and spin performance prohibited". It had tendency to spin, stall and did not had a tendency to be recovered from that. Namenlos, your turn :)
  4. They've created a menus first and are updating content from time to time. I keeping my eye on those pages :D
  5. @mvsgas - Lanzfeld is talking about level bombing with dumb bombs, using Shkval to acquire target :) @Lanzfeld - lets repeat the procedure, in short, but this time using autopilot (AP): - Assume the initial position, say 3500 m and 600 km/h. - Locate and lock the target using Shkval. If too far away, target box may not snap onto target, but it ain't important. - Re-align the Su-25T toward the target, steady up speed and alt before turning the AP on, as much as possible. - Turn the AP on using key ALT+6 (AP ROUTE). - When AP stabilizes the altitude, play with throttle to keep your speed stable as possible. Whatever alt or spd you get after turning AP on, it ain't important, just try to keep the speed steady. - Press and hold the trigger. If diamond appears, you will be able to release bombs. Procedure is the same as without AP, but this will give you some idea of what you are looking for Laser is not mandatory, but it will improve accuracy. It is not needed to have it on all the time, just 2-3 times for 2-3 secs. It improves accuracy, cos AP calculates release point on basis of your relative alt over ground and speed. Target may be lower or higher above sea level in relation to the point over which you were flying when turning AP on. Distance on HUD is calculated by AP. I've observed 4-6 km difference between that distance, and distance measured by laser. After locking the target, you can move designator box around and AP will correct for that. But, don't cover large distances. Yes, I've tried all bombs and almost all altitudes. I've made some tables with optimum alt/spd per bomb type, but cannot find it now. Still, you can always be sure that 3000-3500 m and 500-600 km/h will do the best result. What were you alt/spd parameters and bomb type? I can make a track for you, give some time....
  6. Yes, Namenlos, it is UTVA-75! Don't get overexcited with that "exported" statement - thats just few examples, and only recently on a private basis, and exported from Serbia (one of the later users and a place where the factory is located). When it was produced in Yugoslavia, it wasn't exported. You can also see that "military operators" on English and Croatian pages on wiki differ slightly. OK, any ideas on user and device? You are soooo close now :) Namenlos can have a first go, but any one can give it a try :)
  7. I did further reading as per GG's explanations, and I have to apologize - I was very wrong about this. My error was toward descriptions regarding Strela 2 usage that were given to me long time ago, where I was told that guidance equipment is trying to align the guidance head (which is trying to align itself toward the target) with missile body, not to keep it a t a constant angle. Meaning, it cannot intercept, only dogchase. I assumed that this is a general method for all IR MANPAD missiles, and that PN was used for radar guided missiles only. I was trying to contact the person(s) that told me that info, but no luck. Also, I was not able to find a manual (from Yugoslav Army). Either lost or given away to someone. Terribly, terribly sorry. Very, very grateful for clarification and understanding. Again :)
  8. Hi, You may be interested into some typos/errors spotted in online help... 9. Or too high. Its not working above 3400-400 m above target alt. For example, FAB-500 can be dropped from 3800 m, 600 km/h. But, cos bomb slows down quite a lot (from top speed of 780 km/h down to 650 km/h), and cos of a big distance, it can easily miss the targeted spot. Make sure there is a diamond on HUD. No diamond, no drop. Keep speed steady. From time to time turn on the laser for a sec or to to correct the distance calculation.
  10. No. And, I believe that both of those were exported :) Also, 42 has one-piece windshield, and 242 has different cockpit doors, among other visible differences. The modification visible on first pic is a field modification, very unique, and thats why I assumed it will be a clue by itself - the modification is that thingie made out of wire in front of the windshield. cmon, cmon :)
  11. Still nothing? Here is a visual hint...
  12. Oh, cmon, don't give up - I've prepared so many hints it will be a shame to waste them :) To answer this one, it will take some research in forgotten fields. Question itself is a hint, cos type, user and modification are closely connected and unique. Correct answer to any of those will answer other 2 parts. One more hint, this one in a form of a riddle: It was never exported, yet it was used by about 10 countries, air forces and armies.
  13. Oh, well, it is kinda unique trainer with unique field modification, and 4-seat version was not all that widespread. I kinda expected that a "device" in front of the windshield will be enough. OK, few more hints: - Factory was established before WW2, but it prospered after WW2 with few more trainer and other civilian designs, all of which were piston engined - This is a post WW2 design and about 100 a/c were built - It has fixed tricycle landing gear
  14. No one else dares to guess, so another hints: - It was built as a 2 seater for civil and military basic training, and as a 4 seater for GA (General Aviation) Remember it s a three-part question: - aircraft type - user of modified a/c on pic - type of modification
  15. Another hint: Not built or used in any of Americas.
  16. Yes, I hope that will be possible, but I without that "Robbie the robot" effect, as in this videos :( I do not understand what is wrong with normal voice? Maybe some little radio chatter effect and thats it. No need for such overkill. After all, if it were for training, it will not be done over radio while flying real airplane for the first time, but rather in s simulator (like FC) with someone close by and talking in human voice :) Still, it would be nice to have understandable videos that I can run on second monitor or PC, parallel with FC(2).
  17. OK, one of the latest videos, , about 1 minute into the video, when camera takes outside view, engine/environment noise is way too loud and voiceover is totaly incomprehensible. I can barely tell that there is someone talking :(
  18. Nope. Time for hint: Not American.
  19. OK, lets try with this one. Name aircraft type, user and aircraft role:
  20. Strela is pure pursuit and yes - it sucks, and immensely. I repeat, it is trying to align its seeker with its body. Thats the whole point - it cannot intercept. (topic got split while I was writing this)
  21. Not quite :) Strela-2 manual also mentions "leading", but "leading during launch", not that missile has a "leading ability during flight", which is totally different thing. Lead on launch is when a person moves launcher in front of the target and then fires a missile at an angle, in relation to the target (not directly toward the target). After launch (at an angle) missile will turn toward the target. Missiles seeker will NOT try to intercept the target. It will go straight towards the target. NOT THE SAME. IR missile cannot intercept target properly cos it has no info on distance. In FC they chase the aircraft the same way SARH missiles do it. Keeping your head on target cannot give you exact distance. You can only calculate it or guess it, based on your own speed (which you have to measure [strela cannot], or guess) Combine that with your example with cars - Strela 2 is NOT doing that. It is not keeping its head toward the target, while its body is going other way (toward intersection). No, Strela is trying to align its head and body. Meaning, it will try to keep other car in the middle of its windshield. That is pure "chasing".
  22. Strela 2 cannot do that. As far as I remember its manual, it says something like "while it is rotating, seeker is pointed towards the target, and it tries to align seeker with missile body". However, I'll try to ask a buddy that shot a few of them (for real, hehe :D ). And I do not think that logic in IR missiles can do that good job in predicting the targets position. Currently, they are intercepting at the same rate as any SARH missiles - way too much in front of the target :( It is most obvious in tacview with vectores turned on. You can see the intersection point of missile and your plane.
  23. Yes, but are they using it from the moment of the missile launch? Namely, I've observed many times that Strela (any type), Igla and Stinger are intercepting me throughout of their flight. I don't think that those missiles have any algorithm for interception. I'm sure that Strela does not have any. Some (very) later types may have such guidance, but are those among SAM/AA missiles that are modeled in FC?
  24. All aspect yes, but it cannot intercept (lead) the target, just go straight towards it (dog chase). (I have misused term "tail", sorry)
