Release of new Virtual Panel v.1.2.1!
Renato71 replied to Mnemonic's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks! I saw LoGetMCPState list, that kinda give me the idea to ask (for confirmation). I've ovelooked on LoGetTWSInfo - will try something on that. Or wait for you? :music_whistling: Anyway, you manga, you read my mind - I also have few original devices, hehehe. Hence the question. Using original instruments in their original form is not possible. Only thing that you can use is their "natural beauty", ie mask and dials and such. You have to build completely new mechanism. You basically need some servo that will turn the dial. Additionally you have to calibrate it. Such stuff is very common with MSFS community (google on fs simpit or cockpit). But they devised many fsupic interfaces (fsupic is same as lua for MSFS), mainly some PIC-based boards connected to parallel or serial port or similiar. Recently they started with USB interfaces. So, what we need is hardware interface that is able to convert lua export into digital and/or analogue signals. Homemade boards of that kind should not cost more than 50-100 USD. Servos could come from old floppy or hard drives (step motors - could be tweaked to work as servo, thou even a stepper could be usefull). Never give, never surrender! I can be done, just gotta dig out how. I'll look more on hardware interfaces that work with lua. BR -

I kinda suspected that these two are in question. But waht kind of output they provide? Table? Any info on that? Any ideo how to implement hardwer for external devices, like in MSFS? For that one you can find numerous variations and examples, but not for LO  BR -
Release of new Virtual Panel v.1.2.1!

Hi, Great work Mnemonic! I've just tested it and it works fine on all RU machines :) My configuration: - Win 2003 - Lock On FC - Russian CD version - Radeon X700 Pro (second monitor on DVI via VGA adaptor) No problems at all, layout fine from start. I have two questions for you: 1. Any idea how to export dato to external device (ie, homebuilt cockpit)? 2. Any idea how to export other cockpit functions, like warning lights and RWR? Also, where can one find a full list of LUA export commands? On main lockon site, under LUA, there is a list of examples, but I cannot find exports for warning lights and RWR. -
Hi all, Well, I am finaly able to present first translation of Lock On: Flaming Clifs into Croatian language that covers whole game, apart from manuals and subtitles in UPT (soon to come). Also, I solved font problems - created new tga files wih Croatian fonts! You can grab it from Crotian Lock On Support site: http://lockonhr.com And there is a new mod under way - Croatian Armed Forces: http://lockonhr.sourceforge.net/ Once more, thanks for all support!

Magnificent job! Just great!

Croatian translation for Lock On 1.12 ! Hi all! Well, finally I can present first, test version of Croatian translation for FC. You can grab it from Crotian Lock On Support site: http://lockonhr.com Thanks for all support! Feedback is welcommed as always

Well, it must be possible. I've just created small misson with carrier and AI's FA-18, and it drops a hook at about 10 km, and later on, at about 6km drops wheels and flaps. On landing AI catches third wire, and then retracts the hook. So, the arrestor hook works. Mabe if you try other way arround, as what LO parameter triggers the hook on Su-33? Another thing. Try to re-define key for arrestor hook. Friend of mine had trouble with trim (not working), he defined another key for trim, and then returned old key (exit the game after changing the key). As for not seeing in mission or track, have you tried with fresh mission, or you're reusing an old one? As for CVN not firing at you, in mission editor just put USA in RED coalition.

 Magnificent! Thank you so much for this tool. It look and work so profesional, that sometimes I think you work for Top Gun and their ACMI's, hehe. I wish that ED seriously considers including your tool in BS and later on!

Magnificent skin! :clap_2: By far the most beautiful cammo on the plane that deserves it most (naturally, after viggen). I was always a great fan of swedish techies and adored that cammo. Brought some sweet memories about my Viggen model kit (maybe it's still alive). I usually don't care much about outside look (gotta see my car), but this is one of the very, very few that I like best. Can't wait for dload, dude! Just give us beta!

lenghty one... Hi, Looks to me like you're the inpatient one :) Well, I hope that I could bring you the first version of 1.12 translation in about week or so. But I still do not have enough feedback on LO translation Well, beside some differences (word X instead of word Y), there are numerous additions in FC files. Thou these files are formatted in the same way, new or changed lines are key elements to stability of the game. There is no "template" file or file with source of the strings, like in some applications (so the game could "pull" original string from somewhere if translation is missing). This translation files, as well as other official translations (FR, DE, EN, RU) are directly used by the game engine. If something is wrong with localized file(s), the game will crash. If there is a line or file missing (or its location is incorrectly defined) in FC translation, the game will crash. If you're trying to use 1.02 translations in 1.12, the game will crash. They are not interchangeable! Explanation: Applications where you can use old version of language file without impairing the usage of or crashing that application usually come with one single translation file that contains all of the application strings (usually a PO file for Linux or LNG for Windows). There is another kind of applications that use strings from several different files (even when it looks like you're installing/activating one file, application secretly activates several different files). LO/FC is of that kind. And to make things even worst, there are more than 30 files and folders in about 4 different formats. Localization of LO (as I believe was originally planned) has only one level of translation. That level is recognized by separate language version folders like RussianVersion, EnglishVersion, FrenchVersion... They are called upon by Localizer.cfg file in folder Lock On\Config\. This level of translation could be edited by end-user, either during installation, or later on by manual editing of Localizer.cfg file. There is a second level of translation, and this one is not easy to change. This level is depicted by separate versions of the WHOLE game. As you may know, there is English and Russian version of FC. This level includes changes in inscriptions in graphic files and xml files. This particular level is major reason of incompatibility in LO and FC translations, as reckless editing of dds and xml files could crash the game, or make it unusable. Both levels are NOT interchangeable! For example, MEINIT.xml contains names of units, camouflages, weapons… Since English phonetics uses "kh" for Russian letter "x", which in Croatian, Serbian and several other Slavic languages is letter/phoneme "h" (I believe that in Czech it's "ch"?), I had to change all missile names from ie Kh-58 into H-58 (and all other that contain phonemes "kh", "y", "ch", "sh", "zh" and "ts" in Russian names). But! In meinit.xml there is a line: Launcher WorldID="4" NatoName="(AS-10)" CLSID="{code}" Weight="300" Picture="" Name="KH-25ML"> Element "Picture" calls up the picture that will be displayed in Mission Editor. If quotes are empty, this element takes its value from element "Name". So, when you change Name (and that is the text displayed in Mission Editor), you gotta edit "Picture" (or rename the dds file), so it would look like this: Launcher WorldID="4" NatoName="(AS-10)" CLSID="{code}" Weight="300" Picture="KH-25ML" Name="H-25ML"> This is the simplest example of an item that is common in both LO and FC. As you may know what is the importance of this and other xml files, you can imagine what will happed if you use incorrect code/elements. Now, there are some files that are easy to translate, like Encyclopedia and some cfg files that look like this: LOADOUT = "NAORUŽANJE"; This, Croatian translation is equivalent to 2nd level of translation. Btw, the translation for LO 1.02 is about to be closed up. All in-game strings are translated, apart from missions. Manual and voices for LO will not be translated. That is for FC (and BS) alone. I am working on keyboard layout PDF file as well. I hope that I will have voice-overs ready by the time BS hits the market. There are some strings in multiplayer still shown in English, and I still cannot figure out where they are coming from. Also, I wish that I could edit font.tga files, but this is horrendous task. I managed to edit those files, but the font is quite wide, and about 25% of string do not fit (darn Croatian lengthy words!). Inserting narrower font in tga is piece of cake, but then one need to edit font.txt, as it controls displayed width of each character. It took me 1 hour to edit 3 tga files, and 1 hour to fix just one txt! That's why I opted for Windows fonts, and that could have some drawbacks, especially during flight (a/c labels) Pic 1 - first run with tga, txt is unedited; note empty space (character replaced was quite wide) and Đ (D) one pix too high Pic 2 - after 3-4 tryouts; almost perfect Pic 3 - different tga, for labels; much smaller letters, some pixel residue and one (last) character incorrectly edited; also, note empty space Pic 4 - Arial, my option, for time being... I hope this one was not to dull to read :smilewink:

Croatian translation for Lock On 1.02 - update v0.3 Hi, Another update, this one a bit larger, and since it is also larger in bytes (1.5MB) I'm not able to post it here. But, I've just set up some intro pages on my new site where you can download the old and latest translations. Newly translated parts: - inscriptions on weapon pics during payload/armament dialog (Mission Editor) - screens - main, demo video (to keep the size down) - further corrections and improvement of current strings For download go to: translatorweb Thanks!

The translation I've posted here is for 1.02 only. Translation for 1.12a is under way :) Translations are not compatible because the files that are translated are also the files that make 1.02 and 1.12 incompatible among each other. But, as far as a text goes, diffferences are about 10%. Translation for 1.12a will be rady after: - enough feedback on 1.02 is received (terms, errors, missing text...) - font.tga file is fixed (gotta insert Cro specific characters) Also, updated translation for 1.02 will be released, as I beleive there are enough users of that version around us. I will also post some info about translating procedure when all tasks will be completed. I see many users from "small nations" and I hope we could spread the fame of LO/FC with localized GUI and manual. I am trying to set up a forum on my site where we could discuss terms and Cro-specific issues in debth. Since there is no Croatian Lock On web location (that I know of), I'll have to improvise. Regarding PDF: I have text, but I need pics-and-text file. Give me few days to reply to you via PM on that. I hope something could come up ;)

Thanks for kind words! I'm looking forward to any sugguestion there is. Btw, I've just noted that I packed early version on MEinit.xml (I have quite a lot of backups)(and got the wrong one, ayeh!). I will not post latest until I got some feedback. It will be included in next version of translation. I've already started on FC. I'm planing to do voices, but it's a huge job. Same thing with manuals. With them, I think that best way is to post them somewhere (I'll try on my site) as a blog or in forum, so people could make comments on them. I have some trouble with PDF export from Acrobat into Word (crashes), thou I mananged to export LO FC Quick Start Manual 1.1 without any problem. If someone can export this files: Lock_On_Reference_Manual.pdf lomac_manual_1.1_eng.pdf ... I would be gratefull. So far, I managed to copy-paste the text, but layout is gone. I thing this problem was already discussed here. Best regads!

Hi, Well, after 2-3 months of hard work, I am proud to present first pre-release of Croatian translation for Lock On 1.02. :pilotfly: You may be asking your self why I decided to do 1.02, instead of new 1.12? I had some troubles with my version of FC (it's Russian CD). In order to start a game, I had to change non-unicode setting in Regional setting and then to restart PC. But then, I have no Croatian specific characters - I got Cyrillic letters instead of them. Naturally, I cannot work like that, so I opted to make translation for 1.02 and later on to upgrade it to 1.12. Differences in text strings are not significant. It was quite a difficult task, involving some 32 files so far and over 4 different file types. On individual screens there are text string extracted from several different files. Some text string repeat over several screens with different purposes (and available spaces). I say this only to stress the need to forgive me for small errors :) Not translated files/texts are: - Flight school - Campaigns/missions - Inscriptions on weapon overview pictures (when choosing airplane payload) - Sounds This was intentional, for I am interested into feedback prior to continuing into those, bit complex tasks. IMPORTANT NOTE: Lock On uses font provided in tga files, as alpha channel. As I am not some guru in graphics applications, I had to switch to Windows font: Arial. You may change the type and size of this font to suit your needs. Just edit the file in folder: Lock On 1.02\FUI\Fonts.cfg Translation is ModMad ready. Some common files are changed, but there are added CroatianLanguage folders. Help (and support) is welcomed! EDIT: (Oct 15th 2006) Here is small update of Croatian translation package. MEinit is now fully translated (I hope), also some touch-ups of text that is displayed via graphics. I recommend uninstalling the previous version. Still not final version, so keep in touch! EDIT: (Oct 19th 2006) Since latest update is a bit larger in bytes (1.5MB) I'm not able to post it here. But, I've just set up some intro pages on my new site where you can download the old and latest translations. EDIT: (Dec 20th 2006) Test translation for v 1.12 is finally avilable! Please check out my web-page! For download please go to Crotian Lock On Support site: http://lockonhr.com

Hi, Well, nothing changed in our hardware configurations. It's just that start switches too fast back to cancel? That's the strange thing. In 1.02 it took some time, 5-10 secs before server is either found or not found. Last night I've managed to connect to a game on HyperLobby. I will try to creat game over there as soon as my friend and I got some free time simultaneously.

Hi, Me and a buddy just got FC, Russian CD version, pathched to latest. When we try to play over internet, nothing happens in a sense that when client (him or me) hits START button, within a second it switches back to CANCEL. On the other hand, looks like servers starts correctly. Never had such problem with 1.02 (but there I had an option to choose between LAN or Internet). Nothing else has changed in mean time. We both have dsl router of same type. Thanks

thnx Thanks for reply, Yes, I know about the files that are involved (containing text), but I have codepage problems. I guess Afrikaans uses same characters as in english, wright? So you should not have the problems I am experiencing....

Translating Hi Stealth_HR! Well, in all the excitment with my first progress in switching from Russian into English, I didn't "prepared" my post as a serious statement, heh. Let's call this thread as a probe for the subject od translating! Yes, I am very interested into translating LO/FC into Croatian, and I hope there are other people who would like to have this marvelous simulation in their own language. I saw that Frenchmen did some work on that, and looks like they solved the character/font issue. Files that I have put here should serve just as a itermediate help for people like me. When I learn a bit more about the text files used in LO/FC, I will start new thread with more "attractive" title. I am glad to see positive response on the poll as well, thou I should name it "Are you interested to see LO/FC in your own language"? Well, it was 3AM....

Yes, just as I said it above. No, the game is not identical. It is in Russian. I am not that proficient in Russian. My friend is. He has some dunnowhat degree in Russian. I understand some aeronautical terms, but that's all. Still, I would like to translate FC into Croatian, and for me this "translating from Russian into English" is kinda like excercise.
-
And one more addition before I go to bed: Fast Battle Planner and User Interface (some messages only): FBP.ini ui.xml Make backup! Goes to: (path)\Lock On 1.1\ME\ Just noted - I cannot open missions that have titles in Russian. Guess windows issue. FBP-UI.zip

How to change a Russian CD Version into an English

I agree - Very beautiful, but there are so many planes and sceneries for free. 35 euro is a lot for "no action". I got FC for half that price, and it promises years of fun! Those guys should approach lockon dev team and offer to make those crafts for FC. Now - that would be fun worth every penny! :pilotfly:

Thanks for reply! Wow, I'm not alone! Well, I wasn't sitting on my hands. I managed to "create" English GUI for FC !!! I just manage to do it (few minute ago) and tested it - It works! Here is the file (I hope, I've never sent a file on this forum). Just unzipp it into you LockOn 1.1 folder. Nothing to back-up except maybe Localizer.cfg. Lets call this a pre-release, ha? Still experimenting, heh, will write better instructions next time. Here are some notes that I think are important: 1. I had initial trouble starting Russian FC until I changed (on win2003): Regional and language options -> Advanced -> Language for non-unicode programs -> Russian Windows need to be restarted. Also, Win could ask for installation CD. 2. I re-used locale files from LO1.02, filled-in all the new lines and placed them in the same manner they were placed in 1.02 (mentioned above, in first post). Furthermore I've edited few lines in Localizer.cfg (new lines at the bottom of this post) 3. I still have to keep regional setting as described above. Otherwise the game wont start (at least on my PC). I wandered way, but then I noticed that some item remained in Russian. I guess until I switch all lines, I will have to keep Russian. There is also possibility that some part of the game engine checks regional setting. I dunno, me not a proggie. Items still in Russian: - Few buttons: Start and Exit on main screen - Briefing text - All items on drop-down lists: names of the countries, pilots, skills, weapons, weapon types… 4. All other menus are in English. The game does not crash on any menu nor in flight. For the moment. I will work further on detecting where missing lines are hidden, but some help from an owner of English FC would be most then welcomed. I've also contacted dev team on a request if I could translate LO/FC into Croatian. I was able to introduce third language in 1.02, but Croatian specific characters were not shown properly no matter what code page or regional setting I choose. I've tried to contact French teams (looks like they have translated FC), but all French forum are... in French. No blame, just were do I click to send a mail? Anybody here speaks French? Little favor, ha? Frankly, I don't mind Cyrillic (I can read it), but I don't know Russian that much. Also, what is more important to me, I work a lot in text editors, and now all of Croatian specific characters are replaced by Cyrillic ones. (not in Word, just in Notepad). And to change non-unicode setting I gotta restart PC. It's not very practical. New Localizer.cfg: ------------------------ Simbols = "FUI/Simbols.cfg"; UserInterface = "FUI/EnglishVersion/UserInterface.cfg"; Common = "FUI/EnglishVersion/Common.cfg"; Action = "Input/EnglishVersion/Action.cfg"; Impact = "Input/EnglishVersion/Impact.cfg"; JoystickConfig = "Input/EnglishVersion/Joystick.cfg"; KeyboardConfig = "Input/EnglishVersion/Keyboard.cfg"; MouseConfig = "Input/EnglishVersion/Mouse.cfg"; Layer = "Input/EnglishVersion/Layer.cfg"; Switch = "Input/EnglishVersion/Switch.cfg"; NetworkTexts = "Network/EnglishVersion/NetText.cfg"; RadioUSAPath = "Sounds/RussianVersion/USA/"; RadioUSAConfig = "Sounds/RussianVersion/USA/RadioSpeech.cfg"; RadioRFPath = "Sounds/RussianVersion/RF/"; RadioRFConfig = "Sounds/RussianVersion/RF/RadioSpeech.cfg"; RadioGERPath = "Sounds/RussianVersion/USA/"; RadioGERConfig = "Sounds/RussianVersion/USA/RadioSpeech.cfg"; Lock On 1.1.zip

What, like there is nobody with english version? Erm, look like the title of my post was quite unattractive.... Is there anybody who has english version of FC? C'mon guys, I just new few little files! Is this so hard to do?
