Yup, paypal is not supported in CIS countries. They have thier own alternatives to paypal, which in return are not supported outside of CIS.

I can take my pair of jeans (worth 20 USD) out of my flat. Sadly, not possible with FC, unles ED developes a version for mobile phones. Preferably for my old Nokia. Jeans do not need additonal investment. I use my old army belt. Sometimes I use two of other belts, 5 USD each, one per 2 year timespan. Sadly, I will not be paid by anyone to fly it. It is a hobby. And at the and of month electric company will not give me a discount because I've logged 500 hours in Su-25T this month. Also sadly. There are people taht are willing to invest big money in hardware and flying sticks. Sorry, I'm building my own throttle out of old stick, and will be building my own rudder. A buddy of mine just paid 200 USD for Saitek rudder. He can afford it, I can't. Just because I can speak some English, have a big nose, can whistle Colonel Bogey March and tell the difference between Churchill and Nelson, does not imply that I'm Prince Charles. I live in a falt that is a size of His majesti's toilet. The reason why I want to buy Russian version of DCS is because it will be cheaper.

Russian version -> Patching to other locales
Renato71 replied to Murphyd's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm in contact with several persons from CIS. Getting DCS is not a problem - the problem is how to pay them? Paypal does not support CIS and most ex-USSR countries, and bank transfer is very expensive in my country (fees are about 10-25 USD, depending on the amount and destination bank). Several of my buddies expressed their wish to have a Russian version, so it is even harder to arrange payment. Cash in envelope is out of the question. Still, 7 days to go, enough time to arrange something... And I do not believe that even on the 17th the DCS will be available in all CIS shops, only on selected sales points (major cities and such). I presume it will take 3-7 days until it reaches all CIS shops, and after that about 10-20 days until the (God willing) package arrives :) I'll keep you posted... -
100 USD?!? Insane...

Russian version -> Patching to other locales
Renato71 replied to Murphyd's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well, it was both easy and complicated at the same time. Translating itself was not complicated. Locating the files and to determine which string is displayed on what string - that was bore. On a first run I used comparing application to find diffs between Eng and Russ edition (borrowed eng edition from a friend). Some strings are located in files from one folder, some are in another folder, and some are pics in cdds files. For instance, Mission editor in total calls string from 5 files: meinit.xml for units and weapons, one file for strings, another for tooltips, pics for buttons (OK, FLY...) and pics for weapons in payload editor. Some files are easy to work with. Like, in folder FUI/languageversion/ there is Common.cfg. Here is a same line from Russian: Loading__ground__objects_PERIOD__PERIOD__PERIOD_ = "Çŕăđóçęŕ íŕçĺěíűő îáúĺęňîâ..."; English: Loading__ground__objects_PERIOD__PERIOD__PERIOD_ = "Loading ground objects..."; I worked on many localization projects, and there is one thing on which you can count in 90% of the cases - programmers hate to work with translators. Translators are just a nuisance to them. They don't like to talk to them, and they will never make translators job easy - to make an application easy to localize. So, LO/FC was localization-unfriendly, and I do not beleive they will change anythning from above example. Some of my work is described here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=18912 I don't think there is much need to discuss this in great depth, until we see how DCS is actually organized :D -
Will you buy the russian version of Black Shark?
Renato71 replied to Kenan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The difference between Russian and English edition of FC was complete change of all items related to language. Including tooltips, mission descriptions and unit names in meinit.xml. -
Russian version -> Patching to other locales
Renato71 replied to Murphyd's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I beleive this could be done, as I have done with Russian FC. -
Agreed  After few flights as a passanger in a Mi-24, even it was long time ago, still didn't find nothing that can beat that feeling :pilotfly:
-
Again, missing option "Will you buy BS and wait for Mi-24". Don't care about A-10. Wouldn't'fly if you pay me :D

You were not sattisfied with the topic "Price Issues?"

DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Renato71 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I have Russian FC running on English (US) Windows XP, also tested on Win2003. It will install, however you need to access Regional and Language Options in Control Panel, and on tab Advanced change the setting for Language for non-Unicode programs into Russian. If it refuses to install, change above prior to installation. Settings require restarting of Windz. Works for me and for few budies of mine that bought Russian version. They also use my "translation" of Russian version into English one. For that I used various files from the English version. Also, I've created Croatian (true) translation using this procedure as a reference. -
Visibility in game should be higher then in reality. It will be up to player to use his skills to spot the difference between real object and chockolate drops on monitor. IRL, the visibility depends on the factors =RvE=--AS-- has named, but here it depends upon your hardware and graphical settings. What is needed is a solution that would prevent local graphical settings making something more visible on one PC, then on another PC. And even if someone tunes down the his/hers own settings, the object will not pop up any sooner then on a PC where all is maxed to the full. Like that fog params - tune them properly up and down, and you can see ground objects further and clearer on a PC with medium specs, then on a PC with higher specs and higher (more realistic) settings. Btw, ground objects are far to visible in LO/FC. They stick out no matter how colored they are, making thier cammo paint quite useless (in game). IRL, their visibilty decreases exponentially with distance, unlike flying objects (contrast, size and shape issues). Shape is a key issue here - human brain is easier to overlook the shape of a tank then the shape of an aircraft, even if they are of the same relative size and painted in a same cammo. Finally, faster moving objects are easier to spot then slower ones, and those that stand still are even harder to spot. One can spot any ground unit at the same distance regardles off their speed. Also, during night missions, I can spot moving units with ease as they kick up white dust clouds.

DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Renato71 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Maybe, due to the level of realism and extensive need to think and learn, it is extremely harmful to a players brainpower? Suggestion for new ERSB rating "some IQ needed" :D -
I don't think that price should be formed around average income and spanding rates in US/EU - there are more countries outside EU, there are more people outside US. Average income in my country is lower then that in Germany, yet all prices (especially for Internet) are higher. Prices on games in my country are equal to cost of purchasing the game over Internet, icluding postage. 50-60 USD in big money here. If someone thinks otherwise, I will gladly accpet their offer to buy me a copy :D

DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Renato71 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I understand that you must be quite tired by all this questions, mostly about answered topics. I was simply asking few things about stuff that have nothing to do with my country. Russians think we are West, Westerners think we are East - we are caught in the middle, never making anybody's requirements :( Russians wont sell me Russian version, because I do not have webmoney. And I cannot open webmoney or alike, as they are for CIS only. Americas wont let me watch thier TV, as I'm not in US/EU :( I'm looking for a middle fround here. No hard feelings, no pun intended... -
DCS: Black Shark, Russian Version has gone gold
Renato71 replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Why was nobody able to predict this need for rating and distributing? And how come those issues were so quickly solved for CIS market? And what about free countries around the world with no US-imposed market rules? Or a rating equal to CIS? I do not beleive that exact the same rules as in USA exist in any (other) Spanish-speaking country. Ratings in my country do not exists in such form. Those that are present on packages are mearly translations of original ratings, without any true understanding of it or legal checking. Furthermore, if one is to wait for US rated distribution, does that mean there is going to be delay on account of rating for each country in the world? Like Thailand? Why not make download avaiable only in certain countries, using IP check? Like, I wanted to watch some online stuff from ABS and such, and I was presented with excuse "not available in your country". Lets make it other way around this time :D Why not open a bank account in paypal country so people from outside of CIS could order at least Russian version? -
Personally I would prefer CD-key that has to be checked against their server, like in COD and similiar protections. That kind of protection will simulataneously eliminate any possibility of "nick theft" and could provide cetralized stats, like in BF. But, I'm sure that they've already decided on that if BS is gone gold...

Pre-processing an mp_log.txt for stats (Howto)
Renato71 replied to dodger42's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well, Mugatu suggested that (luasql), and not being very proficient with neither lua or sql, I kinda assumed lua is needed :D As I googled it for a while, my head almost exloded while reading all that stuff... I just gave up on doing it on my own, as this is way above my head, and I do not have enough spare time to learn everything from scratch. I'll try to contact some local guys - maybe someone of them will be interested to do this as a self-promoting project, but volunteer work in Croatia is grossly underestimated. Basically it is considered to be "a job for loosers and tree-hugging hippy capheads". Thanks for your help guys. I'll keep you posted :) -
Fantastic work as usual, Vyrtuoz! One more reason to impatiently wait for BS :D Will you release it in parallel to Russian or international version?
-
Yeah, I certainly thought so. Wander where they got their info from? LO?

Renato71 replied to dodger42's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ouh... Advices not working. This code - wel to someone it may lok like a "language", but to me it looks like nothing. Just a puzzle that needs to be compiled somehow. Not able to see in such depth as you guys. As for luasql - well, I don't know much about lua and sql, and combining those two together... Guys, I'm an electrician, not a programmer. Sorry, I can't make this work...
