  1. Su-34, MiG-31, Mi-24, Mi-28.... They should be making desktop versions of those - that is worth 60 USD each :)
  2. Cannot answer about "Most played: DCSWb, DCSBS or FC2" when all question start with "I bought DCSWb" of "not yet", and cos there is no option "I'm not interested in DCSWb at all".
  3. I had to admit that I clenched so hard that I was not able to take a dump for two days.... on third shot you can see green tracer form tank's HMG. but I'm surprised that main gun did not fire off - i was starring right down its barrel. btw, antennae on tank is protruding trough my engine nacelle :)
  4. Solved by giving him access to my account on DCS web site, where he changed profile info to reflect his personal data. He says that now he can access A-10C beta section of the forum.
  5. A buddy of mine decide to buy a10c, but had no credit card and I bough it for him using my web account. I'm not interested into beta section of the forum. How can he access it?
  6. If the price is decide as to "cover the developing costs", then how come every Russian edition is much cheaper then any Western edition? In my mind, that says that is it cheap for ED to develop a game in Russia, but expensive for The Fighter Collection to sell in the West. If not, then the price is simply picked up on basis "which one is going to hurt less". If so, then I am - being under legal umbrella of "West" - in effect paying for Russians to have cheaper fun. Although, the average income is about the same as in my country. But, what every westerner pays is a Russian hacker that will create a crack. As every crack came from Russia. With love for their national product? The price rose for each sequential title for increment that is much larger then the inflation rate in any major market. Boberro said what is right, and everybody missed that on intention: That is what makes the difference between the capitalism and the monopole, or the abuse of the monopole.
  7. What "other" titles? I'm wining about people not giving money to someone else. I'm calling upon those that think this is worth more then 60 USD, to pay more then 60 USD. To make myself clear, at this moment I cannot afford 60 USD. At all. Nor do I plan to spend that much on ONE game/sim. If it were 30 USD, over the course of next 12 month, I would buy 2-4 copies (if financial circumstances permit so).
  8. But you got it right to the bone. It was not easy to tell if your offer was a joke, or only the rest. No, after third reading, I'm closer to think that you were only joking. So, after that, there is nothing that I can say, short of cursing, that you can claim to be insulted with. I forgot it before anybody made any reply. Thats why I edited into "Nevermind" cos I knew there is no way to make a reply that will both express my feelings adequately, and simultaneously NOT to insult anybody. Then again, if there are true samaritans around here, they will not be insulted even if I threw my socks into their face. Then again, I rather have fair price that I could afford on my own. Then again, I bought all previous editions of LO/FC/DCS, thus being one of those that enabled you and others to have A-10C by preforming an act of INVESTING. Well, its your turn to invest. But, in the end, I called upon those that claim to be willing to spend 200 USD, but are neatly avoiding donation to those that cannot afford, but are interested into WH. (not to forget, it AIN'T me!). There, neveremind and forget. Cos this has turned into account bragging contest, and I'm flat. PS - FYI, I planned to give a copy of WH as a prize gift in a national FC2 tournament, hopefully few times a year, but at 60 USD it is way too much. So, for 30 USD, I bought a bunch of shoulder patches on ebay. They will last for a year or two, AND now I have prize gifts for first three places.
  9. Hmmmm... that smells like capitalism. Your criticism of monopoly is dully noted. :music_whistling:
  10. So many people claim that they will be happy to pay more, yet no one is offering to buy it for other people.... Are just bragging about your income or truly appreciating the product?
  11. I'm past beer. I calculate in bread loafs, liters of milk, and baby diapers now. For last 7 months I've spent more time changing this last item, then playing any sim. Expected to do so in future. I'm glad for people that are happy with anything about WH, but sorry, not interested in A-10, same old map (for 10 years), cannot afford new hardware... No go. I rather play and pay something else. Like, lately, I'm having more fun playing Tanks Online then FC2. No install, no pay, playing in 10 sec after starting up. What a contrast... Not to mention that I'm so non-excited when I get shot down in FC2 (for any reason), while I can curse like pirate in TO - just like I did few years back in FC1. If I could spend 60 USD on sim, I would rather pay for a 2-seat helicopter, or a sim with many aircraft to choose from. I pray that Falklands war will be finished by the time I can stop buying diapers, and before I have to start buying school books. 60 USD is to much for something that already existed. If each DCS module is going to cost that much, then finally I will be able to save money for a new car tires. @Mower - still waiting for your PM...
  12. I cannot. And since you are bragging so much about how much you would like to pay, I'm awaiting your serial key in my PM box. I'm downloading DCS-WH as I type this in anticipation of your PM. Feel free to send more serial keys, as none of my buddies cannot afford it. Alternatively, I will to take your 200 USD, and as soon as funds arrive at my account, I will send YOU one serial key. Thanks in advance.
  13. @SilentEagle - I can't get even that far, but few page earlier it was said to disable mirrors. Coudl you be so kind to share your D3D9D.dll and/or D3D9D.dll files? thanks in advance

    FC2 Online

first of all, I have to thank c0ff for noting my comments in professional manner. I realy appreciate it. secondly, it is not my intention to scorn developers of this series. very large portion of what I have written in this topic is based on my talks with my community members. keep that in your mind! I'm simply forwarding their opinions, wishes and so on. on top of that, I may add a conclusion of my own, but I'll do my best to make it clear when that particular part is my own opinion. topic title is "FC2 online" and that is what I was trying to talk about and to relate online playing with hardware issues. in other games it is completely irrelevant what kind of hardware you use in server (ok, not completely, but in the range of average/high-end). simultaneously, clients hardware is irrelevant (in the same hardware range). if I use old bucket to play IL-2 online, the only shortcoming on my end will be lousy graphics. no lagg, no playability issues. in fc/dcs series, it is crucial to keep up with servers hardware and its graphical settings. if clients PC cannot keep up the pace, client will have hard time running the game, regardless of his performance in single player. this should not be an issue! several of my buddies are clearly stating that when they upgraded their PC's, only then they were able to participate and enjoy in MP. up until that moment, their experienced huge laggings, stuttering, crash to desktop, game freezing and so on.... and most annoyingly - weapon performance. because of the combined effect of above mentioned, and God know what else, their missiles would often miss, or they would be killed by something that to them appeared as miss, and is in their tacview visible as a miss.

I guess that I have put too many words into describing hardware, that my major concerns got lost or ignored. those are: - how come that multiplayer is presenting more and more playbility problems? - how come that many good things were thrown out? - how come that all advices are oriented toward "you're having a problem", or "its your problem", "you have to fix this and that", or "go play with yourself", and so on...? - how come that graphical setting on server can influence clients so much and its connection with them? I was not talking about singleplayer issues. FC2 runs just fine in SP on my PC at medium settings. but, each and every time I join any public server that either has more then 10 players or a large number of vehicles, I get lagging in best case, and in most cases game stutters until full freeze. and, its not only a problem of mine. all are experience significant performance drops on servers with large number of players or vehicles. please, no more silly questions or advice along the line of "change your net setting from lan to dsl" and similar nonsense. I'm not that big nincompoop that I'm not able to change and/or experiment with such settings or to advice other to do the same. net code sucks. there is too much data going in and out that PC itself gets chocked up. why is it that my PC - as a client - has to calculate is something 100km away is visible or not? that should be done by server and server should send me "only visible" data. why is it that I see civilian traffic when I turned that off? it is choking my bandwidth and my CPU. I will not spend any 2 cents or alike on false promises, like I did when I kept second LCD monitor instead of selling it when I had a chance, or buying stuff for LOSIOC and anything alike, just on account that only cheating protection is from the age of Spanish Inquisition. but, most of all I'm pissed at myself for wasting my time and money on something that evolved into something that is hoarded by hardware elite and blind worshipers. yes, thats it - I'm pissed cos I supported something, and now those people are pissign and my poormans hardware and situation. just because someone is too lazy or of too high opinion about himself to take any criticism. go play something older... go play with yourself... you should use that as promotional text. jeez, what a waste of time!

don't assume that I'm speaking out of my selfish arse. in fact - I need you to make this thing playable so that I will have somebody to play with :) or that selfish dude will piss me of to single player again, like he did before, I forgot his nick. I'm telling you the simple math that I have observed in my community. Do you need actual numbers? I will proved them for you, although this is something that ED should have done on their own. But, I think that "30 people on 104th" says enough - it is WAY TOO FEW considering that number of PC users has grown, that internet connections have improved, and that internet became more accessible. it is the SAME number as 5 years ago. It should be 5 times more, at least. look, people are dropping OUT because PERSISTENT PROBLEMS WERE NOT SOLVED AND NEW ONES ("many's") WERE INTRODUCED. I'm doing my best to put a calm and joly face when discussing this with my buddies, but it is not possible any more... no, no, no! you CANNOT say or do things like that! people will think that you are creating an elite club. unless that is what you want? if so, then I cannot support this series in any way. and, who will pay for it? if customers base shrink, prices will rise. and, you will be left alone, there will be 50 of you having your rare parties, while 1000 of other will have fun playing something else. can 50 of you fund DCS in full? or would you like those 1000 to chip in? or will you settle with breadcrumbs? no,no,no! that's the main issue - putting aside everyday problems. and under "everyday problems" I mean problems that you have every day with FC2. In fact, that people with average equipment in average country have. in a way, porting FC to DCS environment seems like BAD idea after all :( look, I bought DCS ka-50 and never really spent any time playing it. my purchase was a my way to support this project. so, basically, I've jumped from FC1 into FC2. now, in full honesty and risking bad response, excuses like "its an inherited bug from DCS" are sad cover for "poor programing skills and no testing at all". sadly, it is not only me that thinks like that, just that I'm among those few that dare to speak of it :( there are only TWO things that truly put me off, and its a story of its own, not much related to what I'm trying to relate here - other peoples experience. if you wish, and have time to read, I'll compile an article.

... and I will never be among them - thats my point! who are those 30? are they playing for hours? how many are there in week, 30 or 30x7 ? why is it that 80% of other servers are empty at the same time? meaning, if there are 20 server, how many are playing for hours? 30x20 or 30x1 and 0x19 ? if mentioned problems are fixed, EVERY SERVER will have MORE THEN 30 people EVERY DAY!

that is true, but on the other hand, I cannot run arma2 on my PC at all (at decent level of graphics), so I would like to attribute lagg to that. I had no problems with Arma1 on this PC, and max players I participated with was 15-20 or something like that. And then, lagging was individual problem that others had experienced, and could be attributed to their link, not PC quality! dude, respect, but I cannot afford me such PC. and I do not understand why should I have something like that. adn I do not want to spend my money (that I need to earn over 365 days) on a game (that I will play around 30 days). NOR does any of the other that I've talked with. in my community there is about 1 in 10 of active players that is willing to spend extra (BIG) money on games. 3 of 10 are coping at best. 6 of 10 gave up. is that commercial thinking? loosing customers en masse? my current PC is twice as better then the one I had when I was playing FC1 online for the first time. but, weblink in my country is quite crappy and outdated. equipment is more appropriate for DSL television (download only) then gaming. about 80% of us CANNOT HOST dcs/fc2 using default MP options, or any tweaks at all. we have to use tunngle or alike! that I cannot change. Still - I want to stress that - no net problems in IL-2 or similar. there, about 30-40% cannot host OR clients are having too large ping with them. OR ! @Panzertard again, respect, but all that you have stated are PROBLEMS, that have to be fixed and should not be considered as "features". fi newcommers are reading this, they will ask "why should I buy this if there are so many playability problems?" And they are asking me. What am I supposed to say? something along this lien: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=977421#post977421 But can we have it? Any prereqs preventing it from happening? Don't know. Cost for development vs customer base may be one. Look, fixing the net code will INCREASE customer base! all that is need tis that someone gets down from their clouds where few worshipers have placed them. I'm telling you true numbers - I've lost many members to above mentioned and other problems. And all of them - including still active players - are saying that they will NOT purchase any future product form this series if those problems will be present. I'm not trolling, just that I'm sad cos I cannot help them or mayself. they all have different PC's and links and they do NOT want problems like that. @ Rikus YES On top of that, many practical things that existed in FC1 were thrown out, like customizable payloads, skins, borts, and many "simple" things are non-existent.

dunno about falcon, but with IL-2's dedicated server you will have much better results then hosting on a players PC. thats what is needed for FC2 - dedicated server, not "a PC where you will host, but will not play on, and it has to better then anybody elses PC". I've hosted from my home (700/250) IL-2, FC2 and DCS on a same PC, some old xp2500+ with 7600gt card and 4GB ram. I was playing on my PC, sharing the same up/down load with server. there was no problem when running dedi IL-2 and with 8-10 players (I was no able to get more people at that time). with both FC2 and DCS, God forbid there is more then 5 people (including me!), God forbid there are more then 8 missiles in the air, and God forbid there are more then 20 ground units. and everything depends so much on graphical setting on the server itself, that it alone can gulp 50% of FPS at least! quick example - last night a buddy and I were playing some duel for our League. he was serving. he has much better PC then I, so he tuned all graph settings to max. I had stutter like I was having nicotine crisis. then he tuned down. no stutter. online, I was amazed to see civil traffic when I clearly remember that I turned that off. why is it that I have to see civ traffic, despite turning it off? and other settings along that line.... but, you can fly trough the trees! net code should have been priority. thats why lately I spend more time playing IL-2 then FC2 - ability to play with many people without any problems - and with no need to spend endless hours tweaking the PC and/or the game! it should work perfectly out of the box, on any PC and in any country. simple graphical tuning using provided options should be sufficient, and graphical setting on server should have no influence on ping, stutter, lag, data recording or anything. few years back I had no problems flying big FC1 a2g missions with many other players. today, I do not dare to join if there are more then 8 players, and completely avoid any ground units. and I have twice as better PC, and 5 TIMES FASTER LINK! all that fanatical detailing on vehicles was such a waste of time. I never had any chance to observe any of those details first hand (while flying) (not even when crashing into them). I rather have dedicated server then screws on license plates. there are too much details, chocking up in silly net code. things like that are putting people away. all members on my forum that used to play FC1, bought FC2. one third of them dropped out cos their PC cannot run the game properly, and one third dropped out on account of net and other problems - spending more time fixing then playing. about 10% of those that initially bought DCS are still playing it (other gave up, sold their copy...) simultaneously, number of active flyers in my community grew FIVE TIMES (to the number!) when I expanded forum to accommodate IL-2 players! go figure. and you guys talk the truth about 50-60 players in Falcon - wait for me! which version? of, af, ff?
  20. nah, we need more aircraft used by only one air force and with ultra modern and secrete equipment that noone knows how it really works, and for sure cannot model it in current game engine. and that we have to spend few years reading the manual, and practicing, like those OF/AF guys that just now have finished last pages. yeah, I rather wait 2-5 years for one of those, then have 4-10 per year of simple machines that were used by plethora of air forces around the world, and that you can master in a month, like Su-7, MiG-21, A-4, F-5... really, who wants that? like, just look at all those thousands of looser playing IL-2. they will never be among 50 of us.
  21. Like that lasers and scopes and bunch of PC tidbits - I had both "original" and "copy" and you can actually see the same machining marks on both. Yeah, someone should talk those smart Chinese into making hotas stuff. Man, just imagine, all those tools and machines that were used to make russian fighter sticks, laying around somewhere, collecting dust...
  22. This one is way too much for my budget, and I seriously doubt that it can improve anybodys flying skill. Like having a Stradivari - it does not guarantee nothing in unskilled hands, then the plain noise. I think that Kamov could make more money selling their version of HOTAS the selling real copters. And the prices would be much, much lower. Same goes for Suhoi and MiG. I only hope that someone in Russina or China will get an idea to make cheaper versions hotas, say using real stick from scrapped fighters. The hours I spend in any sim, it will make any hotas last for decades.
