For Radar SAM, their code is 10m ground minimum. If you fly below it you are perfectly safe from them. You can even have fun rolling behind them on roads ;)

Guys. If only some part of some mods are affected, it's for a very simple reason. If you look at the EDM files, you will always see that the models which don't work are from early-mid 2017 or previous to this. There is strictly no way to create a tool to convert an old EDM file to a recent one. The EDM is an encrypted file, and the process to create an EDM too is an encrypted process. Even if you get a good coder, he at least needs to be able to understand how the stuff works. There he simply can't. And even if he could, it wouldn't be legal. So sorry to make some people sad but the only, sole solution to get the broken mods to work again is to get their dev, who own the original 3D model (which is not yet converted in EDM format), to download the latest EDM plug in and to create new EDM to replace the older ones. And this is when they own it, because a lot of modders used older EDM models with retexturing, and so didn't own the original 3DS/Blender/Maya file (sometimes even without the original author permission but it's another debate, now they are ****ed and it's karma) For the remaining part. It is understandable that a lot of people are unhappy. But tbh : ED already makes itself sure that everyday, for several years, the latest EDM plug in is made public and availabe for free to download. The only thing, it is true, is that they could have warned the community of the changes they planned with 2.5.5. But the last EDM formats simply are more optimized for the current DCS, and themselves they took time to convert all their EDM to the new format (And I can garantee you that there are more than all the community mods put together). So well, there is nothing to do. I'm trying on my side to create you a pack to replace stuff that you lost with this update. This, unfortunately, is the only way left if the original dev doesn't want to update his pack, which is understandable because it is a lot of work. And @Pikey : Nope, no texture change. The engine probably was a bit modified so it renders things differently. If it only was this, yep, you only would have to convert textures to a new format. It's not this, guaranteed. Nicolas

I don't know sincerely if it never was done for the 3 pylons. Understand my point : Perhaps during the Ka-52 developement, as they intended to put a 3 pylons wing, they decided to start testing this configuration with a Kamov-50 ? After all, it's only changing the wings and the Ka-50 was in the end a bit made for this kind of things : testing features for the next KA-52 ? I mean, it is not because you don't find photos on google that this never existed. I sincerely don't know and ED has better sources than the ones you'll ever get on your side... Too, Kamov-50 production was to be started again in the 2000', perhaps in this production version was a 3 pylon wing planned, which would make sense for maintenance purpose as both Ka-50 and 52 would share as many components as possible ? Actually, it's quite obvious for me that they would have taken such decision. My personal opinion is that probably a 3 pylons wing ka-50 never flew, but it probably started to be produced or was used for ground testing in the factory, and right in the middle of the production they decided to directly swap the frames to ka-52 variant. So well, if it was like this, it probably wouldn't be realistic to see it fly, but the only lacking thing was some factory time to get it in the airs... Because the aircraft itself would fly very well, even with 10 pylons ^^ ^^ Ah, and a last thing, tbh with you : Probably you on the ED forums think that it is not realistic and it's not normal. But for most users, the famous "silent majority", it is a very much welcome update, sincerely, whoever I talk to who flies it doesn't say "bah not realistic", he says "this is exactly what I needed and hoped for", and it is very egoist of you to ask for it to do not be made like this, because you represent your sole opinion, and usually only the angry people make noise. (Don't take it as a lack of respect, it's simply an empiric truth that mostly unhappy people post on ED forums :p) And you know, you can think if you want that DCS modules are very realistic etc. Truth is that for kinda every relatively complex modules, there are simplifications, differences, or even sometimes things invented. Look at the D2M on the M2K as a good example. It simply never existed on the French 2000-C. Still I don't see people thinking "Oh my god the day they decided to put this, we lost something". They are pretty happy to have it actually. Same for being able to carry bombs and missiles or rockets at the same time. It never was able to do it because of its computer limitations. And I'm 100% sure you could find such thing for the F/A-18, the F-14, the Gazelle (For this one I'm extremely sure) etc. It's only a game guys. I understand that it's a passion for you, as well as for me, but not everyone lives his passion the same way with the same philosophy. Does it mean that there are the "true" simmers and the "false" ones ? @Dudikoff : I don't think. The aircraft you're talking about was set up like this for "show" purpose. It's quite usual during conventions and meetings so the customer can directly see all the available weaponry. A very funny example was the Eurofighter who flew for an entire decade during meetings with weaponry it couldn't even release ^^ I don't know after all if a Ka-52 can be asymetric (although even on exercise they never are, at least with 2 types of weapons, fuel tanks are a different thing), but I'm pretty sure that the Kamov PrPnk cannot handle such configuration because it is limited, just like the M2K above. And finally, well, if you get 6 pylons, you're a strange guy if you manage to still need for an asymetric configuration lol Nicolas

Oula oula oula. Les bateaux c'est long et chiant, faut pas compter sur moi sauf peut-être un jour un BPC désolé ^^ To clarify what I said in french guys : I'm ok to make some relatively simple statics on my spare time. If you want ships, planes etc, get 3DsMax and do it yourself ^^I'm already working on a Crotale SAM system, a Leclerc, a Y-Wing, a falcon millenium......... ^^ Grand maximum : a car like the Toyota I made. No more, sorry ;) A vehicle, as simple as it can look for you as non 3D makers, can be about 10 h of work. A ship it's more. A plane... lol far far more, several months when well done. So if it's a very useful vehicle, ok, if it's a crane that you want to put behind a hangar, sorry but no ^^ Unless you want very simplistic 3D models, but I don't like to make shitty stuff. -

Yup they know this, but what you need to understand is that older EDM formats (prior to plugin V10) weren't optimized at all for the new engine. You may have noticed that ED told in its Week End news that with the 2.5.5 they solved a memory leak issue... The sim has to evolve, modders come, leave, the sim remains. If they decided to spend a loooong time to convert all their EDM files in the last version, (cause there is no secret about this, it is one model after another, and in a model like a tank, you actually have 3 to 5 models with LODS, Collision etc so you have 5 times more work to do), it's because they had a very very good reason. Modders adapt or not, that's simple. It's not like if they made us impossible to mod the game, they simply evolved to a new standard, which happens every 10 years in this sim... Nicolas -
BTW, on the last picture given by Ghost there are two camera systems. I always wondered what was the little one for. I know that a prototype had a new helmet device, so is its role to display FLIR on the helmet ? No because technically, one camera is perfectly enough for combat.

The only fix for this is that ranger may recompile all his 3D models with latest EDM plugins, which may be long. Don't hope for a fix on the ED side, they simply make the sim evolve... -
