  1. Nice find! I like this one

    Past or future?

The "whale song" around 4.44 is crazy.
  3. Researching it shouldn't be a problem, a JA 37D has been made for Falcon BMS and will release with their next update. The FM dev had access to real life fighter pilots as well as a military simulator that was used for type training, and has been able to tune the FM thanks to that.
  4. Yes, Pakistani F-104s fought Indian MiG-21s.
  5. If they model the F-14D, with its 80's era avionics and two MFDs for the front pilot, the pilot should be able to use the radar on his own. There would have been no reason to remove radar modes from the front MFDs. Having a RIO really helped out in the F-4 and F-14A with their fleet defense mission and complicated 50's/60's era radars... but once modern avionics came along, they stopped making twin-seat interceptors for a reason.
  6. I'm afraid the air war was a lot hotter than that, USAF does acknowledge 17 F-105 to have been lost in air-to-air combat. http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/f105_5.html Btw Joe Baugher's site and Greg Goebel's http://www.airvectors.net are very good sites if one wants to look up older combat aircraft. Pakistani F-104s saw combat vs Indian MiG-21s (among other types) in two separate wars.
  7. With just a bit more functionality in the mission editor, you can combine all this with a "click airbase and choose available plane" type UI. As seen in another ww2 sim.
  8. IIRC the "HOTAS: flaps up/down" controls in custom controls, are made for three-position switches that stay in place. So when you use them with a normal button or the two-way rockers on the X-52, flaps will extend only as long as you keep your finger on the button. Use the "Flaps notch up/down" (also in custom controls) instead.
  9. I don't know why he didn't propose a map centered around the Battle of the Bulge (dec 44). Maybe not as famous as the Normandy landings, but still.
  10. Not sure about the original, but you can in Falcon 4 BMS, and if someone drops out, AI takes over. It also models link 16 for the flight.
  11. The frontline was already touching the Netherlands by september; line was at Antwerpen - Maastricht - Aachen. Normandy proper is about 260km from Antwerpen; as other have said before, Ilya possibly picked that region for its renown and marketing power, not historical accuracy. I share your hopes that ED have planned a map that extends well east beyond Normandy, and perhaps leaves much of Normandy behind. Btw Dieppe to Bastogne in the Ardennes is about 330km.
  12. That moment when an easter egg becomes a popular systems feature...

    Past or future?

Yes, the Polychop Bo-105 is in an advanced state of development and they still don't know what the German ministry will let them do. "I cannot use the name BO-105 PAH1A1 because it is copyrighted. We're busy finding some solutions. Since the helicopter is still on duty, we have to be very careful, otherwise -> jail."
  14. Let's wait and see if DX12 brings signficant real world improvements, or if it's another DX10.

    Past or future?

AFAIK that's the variant that served in Spain. And with the INS, and the radar with ground mapping & terrain avoidance modes, quite a complicated plane to simulate.
  16. Lots of ex-Il2 players are waiting for the Normandy map and FPS improvement when firing 6xBrownings. Also the Brits should be more numerous when a Spitfire is released.

Guys nothing is confirmed or canceled, he said "maybe the future?" ;).

    Past or future?

What do I think... about flying F-104G in DCS? Yes please :D
  19. They said 120k $ to develop the 109 FM alone, and estimated 150k total for the module. Modern planes have much more complex systems to model.
  20. Tested with two different sound cards : Asus Xonar U1 and a Hegel Super, which runs on Windows generic USB sound drivers. Got the same results with both cards: When I first start up DCS multiplayer and enter a C-101, the master caution sound works. If I spawn another C-101 on the same server, or on another server, the master caution makes no sound. I do hear the GPU, electrical system, engine and the UHF rock radio. If I exit DCS MP and re-enter MP, I will get working master caution sound in the first C-101 that I enter. When I spawn a second, 3rd or 4th C-101, there's no master caution sound. Well, not a big deal. Perhaps it's better to wait for DCS2.0 before fixing a minor bug like this. Btw did not encounter the GPU bug today, I spawned about 7 C-101 in total.
  21. The cockpit experience is really immersive for me with the nice nav system, and the texture detail is superb, those dials! Also very cosy, the movable red floodlights and the storm lights are really atmospheric at night. The radio station is fun. :music_whistling: For sure, it will be my plane for sightseeing the new maps.
  22. Online, I've found the master caution sound alert does not always sound. The lamp is blinking. Yesterday on Vedexent's server, it did not work, but today it did work. (I also experienced the GPU bug.) Yesterday on virtual aerobatics, it did not work, not today either. My PC was shut down in between. It has always worked in single-player for me.
  23. It would be virtual war like in the Nevada map ;). Anyway it's just empty talk of course, another thread was asking about a Spanish DCS map and I thought of Aviodev. And the 146km ruler is an indication of map size, not an attack profile ;).
  24. Maybe a future 3rd party map? ;)
