  1. Yes, definitely. The current issue USAF NVGs, AN/AVS-9, are about 40° FOV. It's also accurate the "look under" is required since NVGs are focused to infinity and you can't read the cockpit instruments with them. https://nvincorporated.com/product/anavs-9-anvis-9/ There are some that 4 tube "panoramic" FOV that would go complete across a typical DCS screen setup with ~90° FOV (look under would still be required). But these don't seem to be catching on for aviation use, especially fighters with all the extra weight. Also, as Dee-Jay says, with this circa of Viper that no NVG/HMS at the same time. JHMCSII/Scorpion are able supposed to able use NVGs at the same time and the famous F-35 helmet uses the FLIR cameras around the aircraft. Fixed wing ops don't takeoff and land with NVGs too due to lack of depth perception. In general, while they are an important tool, they are far from the panacea that people think they are. However, I'm interested in this mod since with the Pimax the overlapping black rings don't quite feel right in the middle intersecting parts. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  2. Well there have been plenlty of times in my life where "MOAR LOUDER!!!" was an improvement [emoji38] Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  3. Quite strong which is why I hadn't really noticed it before. My bass transducers are turned on/up for a few specific effects that I want to feel less in the seat so I can tell the difference (bass pucks are at my heels and in front of my center mounted stick). I much prefer the JetSeat even over when I was using a Aura bass transducer in my chair. The overall vibration quality and zone effects make it much better, but obviously you pay more for it. Having both is great because of things like this. The effects I have turned off for the seat, G Effect and engine rumble go to the pucks exclusively. That way I can tell the difference between G effect (pucks) and High AOA shudders (seat), also engine rumble to the pucks keeps the seat more quiet and my theory is that you feel more of those vibrations in RL through the floor boards and rigid stick than the seat cushion. Remember you can also edit the Sound Module .wavs through programs like Audacity. But thanks Andre for giving us some improved ones! Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  4. Hey Andre, we are noticing over in the SSA thread that there are some effects, at least the Speed brakes, possibly Gear Turbulence and high AOA shudders that are coming through the JetSeat but not the bass transducers. The effects are being trigger to both in SSA's Debug view. IIRC, Sound Module has something similar listing effects as they are played but I forgot to check that side, sorry! I will as soon as I can. 5. What about when you check through the debug view? (Selected from the "View" window IIRC) EDIT TO ADD: Yes f4l0, using the Debug it seems to be on the Sound Module side for at least the Speed brakes, possibly the other two that I didn't check. Cross posted in the Sound Module thread Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  6. It is freeware, but f4l0 takes donations. Yes keep it plugged in USB, not audio. If/when you get a ButtKicker we'll talk about the Sound Module side then. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  7. No, SimShaker for Aviators (SSA) is DCS, Wings is a couple other sims. You won't need to open the JetSeat control panel now that it is installed, you just will run SSA and it works. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  8. In effect monitor, Speedbrake is being triggered for both JetSeat and Sound Module. Again JetSeat is responding, Sound output is not. Seems to be this way in every aircraft I've tried so far withe the previous list and F-86, L39, F-15. I still have a few more modules I could test but seems to be across the board. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  9. EDIT TO ADD: I've noticed that it really helps to only have the specific effect you are checking on while testing so you don't confuse it with another effect. Also there is Debug mode that will show when effects are activated on the software side IIRC. Using SSA 2.0.3, Sound Module 2.20, JetSeat, Dayton bass pucks via motherboards' RealTek sound card with Sound Module in 2 channel mode. I get speedbrake effects in the JetSeat (which is why I missed it Olaf) but these aircraft speed brakes do not activate through the bass pucks. To confirm, are you guys only using ButtKicker/bass transducer? What versions of SSA and Sound Module? Quick check of this seems to confirm on my end in both JetSeat and sound module no effects. FWIW, F-14 gear works differently on the .Lua end than the others. Can't test this, I do not own any DCS helicopters unfortunately. Need to do some tests on this but last trap I had possibly seemed "light" but I have 3 systems to feel there, I'll shut off both the vest and JetSest first and then add back in the JetSeat when I get to this. Also I believe Andre hasn't released an official verison since SSA has added these effects, so In don't know if these will actuay come through Sound Module yet or not anyway. We'll try to sort out specifics for you, no worries!
  10. Finally got back home to check this part. I've noticed with the start minimized to tray option checked, closing the actual SSA window with the effects settings does X close to tray. It is the settings window with the checkboxes that traditionally closes. I think there is a deeper reason why this can't be X closed to tray since it has a "Send to Tray" button at the bottom. 11. I've had the same start with windows not being able to checked with the 2.0 Beta and a few versions back. Otherwise, 2.0 seems good! Not sure what I did to fix that checkbox before or just it was just one of the reinstalls of another version made it work again. Right now I manually have it added to my start programs since my batch file for DCS doesn't like the .exe's spaces in the file name. It probably time to move to Powershell eventually anyway... I thought there was an option with the third checkbox to have it go to tray, but both that third box (can't remember for sure what it is now away from the computer) and the second one of showing messages works still.
  12. Honestly, PointCtrl is even better than expected. I was building 3 switch boxes when I got mine and only had one completed. The other two are no longer worth my time. My TM MFDs are also now slower for me to use in VR than just using the PointCtrl because my finger "alignment" has to be perfect with lots of variables (exactly where am I sitting today, cursor position etc.) to find the 1:1 position every time on those relatively small physical MFD buttons. The only time go to my switch box or Saitek Switch Panel is when I need to flip a switch without looking at it, usually the gear handle, master arm, flaps, and ejection. If I can see it on the screen or look at it quickly, PointCtrl is always faster in VR. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  13. For the sound files in Sound Module, technically the thread for it is this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144060 But they are basically .wav files that you would edit with Audacity or similar editor. I don't know if the stock files exist yet since I don't if Andre has put out a new version since f4l0 has added them in a more recent release than the latest Sound Module. For editing the JetSeat files it is the UWV editor included in SSA.
  14. Good point about exporting the "contact" call, I generally think of flight data type stuff being available only. That may be the best option if available. I know the F-14 and F/A-18 don't have lights but I also don't know if you actually feel the connection with probe+drogue since it is not rigid and you have to physically push it forward to get it to flow in real life. Plus in those aircraft and the M2000 the drogue is solidly in your peripheral vision. The AV8B is one of those that is pretty far back almost at your shoulder so it would make since it has a light. F-15 doesn't seem to have a light, even then being FC3 it may not light up. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  15. I believe how Andre does it for the other sim is the connection light with a WoW check since in the Viper that light is also NWS active light. Off the top of my head, this method would work for the F-16 and A-10 at least in DCS if the light data is available in the .lua In theory it may also be done with a positive delta fuel quantity, but I'm not sure how much of a lag there is in connection and flow. I know there is in how the boomer calls it in DCS. But this method could work for aircraft that don't have the light. I'll try to look on a AAR tonight (or a track of it) to see how long it takes the fuel to go positive. On the other hand, I don't know if it is realistic to feel that much when you connect on a basket. When we asked for it from Andre, we also confirmed that real life pilots can feel the tanker boom connect. The other sim if I remember correctly doesn't have a boomer "connected" call like DCS (or at least didn't back then) so it was sometimes really hard to tell exactly when you got connected sometimes if you weren't looking at the light. I think I can find that thread if you are curious. I know when I transitioned to DCS and SSA I remember checking that the refueling effect was turned up thinking it was that and realized that it was the door/probe moving, not the actual connection. Overall, not a deal breaker that it doesn't happen. If you can get to it someday and it works in DCS, great! Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  16. By my calculations, the initial £43.50 seems to be your VAT and should be appropriate. The extra £53.31 seems wrong and ridiculous for "storage." According to your tracking, how many days have they "stored" it for you? But to blame Andre because he didn't put "gift" on it is unfair. That opens up both you and him to multiple problems and is technically illegal. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  17. That's what I'm using my 3rd Space Vest for, I think it does a pretty good job. Maybe not as good as Bergison's G Seat, but when coupled with the JetSeat, it is really close for probably much cheaper. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  18. All the ones that the freeware SimShaker for Aviators supports, which I think is almost all. If there one that isn't, it's because Olaf hasn't purchased the module yet. So if you find one you want, send him a donation for his free software. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  19. Most of the aircraft have light that come on, not sure what else could work. The fuel going to a positive flow would probably be too delayed. But I agree, this is one of the differences between the SimShaker versions. You get a bump when it connects in BMS which can be handy to know. Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  20. There is also this app to edit the .Lua and with automatic backup of previous settings, works with F/A18 too: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3311389/ Don't forget there is also the slap switch (program 6) which I use for IR air to air, and bypass setting (program 5) which for me is one of each for simplicity, spam as needed!
  21. Thanks for that Dee-Jay! I will admit after purposely and aggressively attacking all three limiters with asymmetric CatIII loadout/CatI position I can get departures, especially the good old inverted flat spin. The CatIII position does prevent or reduce the severity/duration of the departure. I had to be much more extreme than slight increases HART profiles in the MCH 11-F16. So yes, the CatIII position is preventing departures in DCS! I had to really work to get there to where it has to practically be done on purpose though. So 000rick000, I'm now more of a believer of the CatIII in the current state, thank you for making go try it! But I still want to hear people's thoughts on over G pylon/stores/etc damage that the risk of happening can be reduced, but not eliminated, by having the switch in CatIII :D Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  22. [emoji38] it's the first lesson in "Learning Russian with Andre"! Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  23. Yes, definitely that is the reason for the switch. But as I said, having the switch in CatIII has the added bonus of "helping prevent it," not completely prevent it with the lower AOA. I've had a lot of time in DCS with a CatIII loadout with the switch in CatI and, while I haven't deliberately attacked more than one limiter at a time, I have hamfisted it more than a real pilot would. But that hasn't resulted in a single departure. Is the increase risk of departure actually modeled/planned to be as well? It feels like besides for being a checklist item, there is no consequence for having CatIII selected. I'm was also making comment that stores/other system damage to over Ging a CatIII loadout (regardless of the switch position) would be good to see. Are you part of the camp that the pylons/stores can take it and it doesn't need to be modeled? Sent from my LM-G850 using Tapatalk
  24. Is there ever going to be a damage model of hung stores, etc for over Ging a loadout so we actually use the switch to help.prevent it?
  25. In regards to that mount, honestly most of the time I don't use it, in my cockpit the tablet doesn't move that much because I have limited space to move my legs around. One of my real life students figured out she could use that to hold her iPad for Foreflight but then she got a yoke mount and gave it to me. It is actually a portable DVD player fabric headrest mount, but works really well for that purpose. I could also place the tablet on my standard flying kneeboard, but even in the actual airplane I usually just rest my EFB Android tablet on my leg and only pull out the kneeboard on IFR flights since the majority of my flights are private pilot students. So yes, I generally don't have stuff on both legs when I'm flying in real life, but sometimes since I'm still old school enough I like physically write clearances and such on my kneeboard, that will be on my left thigh and my EFB tablet will be on my right (I'm left handed). The stylus will make crosshairs on the VRK kneeboards as the pen gets within a few mm and then start drawing and will actually make heavier strokes the harder you press. At the tabs or bookmarks on the edges it will go back to being crosshairs and you just tap them with the pen and it will change to them or you can bund the buttons you see on mine for that navigation as well. VRK will automatically let you draw on which side kneeboard you have focused on with one drawing tablet or you can buy two if you want.
