  1. Ewwww. I always say NO to consoles and a big YES to computer based simulations. Just say NO!
  2. I have read quite a few posts on this stuttering with Core2Duo's, but to be 100% honest, I too have an Intel 2.67Ghz Core2Duo (Oc'd to 3.75Ghz) with 3Gb of ram and have never had any stuttering with LockOn and Flaming Cliffs 1.12a (knocks on wood) for the last 6 to 8 months. It is a custom system I built myself, but maybe it has to do more with the components making up the system and to a lesser extent that the actual cpu being a dual processor as this is the second dual processor system I custom built and neither of them have issues with LockOn FC 1.12a and stuttering. For reference the other earlier system was an AMD 5000+ X2 dual core processor.
  3. The problem ultimately with modeling in something other than 3DSMax7 or 8 , with regards to LockOn, is that the tools to animate the model provided by the developer will not work in any other application than 3DSMax 7 or 8. So if you had to buy a product to model and animate for LockOn, then Max is the way to go. Otherwise Cinema4D, Maya, SoftImage and Lightwave are all very strong packages. Nice thing is that these other applications can also be run on Mac OSX operating system as well, and I do believe they also support Linux. So you get some choices on what platform you wish to model on.
  4. I too would like to hear the outcome of this. If there is any improvment to the network code and/or jets in either Lockon with BS add-on ( if it is an add-on) or as a stand-alone. I personally have had no spark of interest whatsoever in flying the KA-50 helicopter.
  5. I'm along the same lines as Deadman. Do a FC video. I'm not much into BS's heli's anyways, unless it makes the jets better. We should put all of that BS stuff in another forum anyways ( one for helicopters ) and keep this one for the LockOn stuff.
  6. I don't have any problems whatsoever with the 7.9 Cat's. If anything, better graphics and smoother gameplay. I checked and I have none of those lines you see in your screenshot, nor do I have a shadow issue. I have been using them since they came out, and so far they get a big .
  7. It was neither of the things mentioned so far. By experimenting I found out what it was. I will post it here in the event this happens to others. If you by accident, click on creating an Arg Based rotation or position, and you click on the "Make default" button, then your keys won't generate. This is what happened to me. To fix I set the default back to being the "EulerXYZ" and everything works again! Hopefully this may help someone in the future.
  8. Thank-you for your time and help Yeniceri. I will check on this when I get home tonight. Best Regards H4rM
  9. I looked around and was unable to find where you would lock or unlock this if possible. Where do I do this? Maybe with a screenshot to show.
  10. Does anyone know of a fix or what would cause the 'rotation' button in max7 'PRS Parameters' to stay grayed out even after creating the argument correctly? On this one laptop I have, I was able to successfully generate arg based positional and rotational arguments on my model, but just the other day the rotational arg does not generate any keys when using 'auto-key', and I noticed that the 'Rotation' button in the 'PRS Parameters' rollout, under 'Create Key' stays grayed out on that laptop and doesn't generate keys for the animation. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be casuing this to not function?
  11. I have a Cougar with the FSSB-R2 mod and if I had to give you my personal opinion / advice ( I own two cougars currently-one stock, an X52, X45 , MS precision pro ) then I would tell you to get the CH Products joysticks or Saitek and steer far away from Thrustmaster Cougars. Not sure why everyone says they are the best but from my POV, other than the programming language, the actual internal construction of the Cougars is not good at all with pots failing, spiking, etc. The fact that the grips are cast metal and look like F16 grips doesn't really mean much when the thing starts to act up ( pots failing, having to mod things, etc check the Cougar World forums for more info on many things you have to do to get them to work correctly including getting rid of that loud clicker in the throttle that prevents smooth throttle and no sound effects). On the outside, the unit looks 1st class, but that's as far as the 1st class thing goes. I think a high percentage of all Cougar owners have had to do some, if not all of the mods on the Cougar World website to get them to work as they should work ( the pots, speedbrake, smooth throttle mod, Ant Elev mod, etc). I even had to send my R2 unit back to Spain for repair, as I had a strain guage fail, let me tell you 1st hand thats no fun either when you are left without a stick for some time. For sure there are people that haven't modded their Cougars, maybe they were lucky or maybe not (you can just leave the thing as it is and fly with it since anythings possible) but when you pay so much for it you have high expectations. Everyone will have differing opinions but for more info read throughout the CougarWorld site, and this forum section under hardware for the many who have not been so lucky. Like I said, these are my personal opinions after owning quite a few different sticks, and although I still fly with the FSSB-R2 modded Cougar, when you look at the total cost of what I have in it ($300.00 for the Cougar plus $600.00 for the FSSB-R2 plus shipping to Spain for repair) you would think that a $1,000.00 stick would be alot better than something you can get for 179.00. Well it isn't. From what I have seen from others I fly with, currently CH Products joysticks work very well and have the programming and reliability/functionality to boot also. Just my 2 cents. By the way: the real reason I have a second Cougar was to have a supply of replacement parts for my main one. After reading countless forum threads where the threads in the cast alum. strips out, switch damage frequency, and wear & tear internally, I chose to buy a 2nd unit just for parts.
  12. If you are running Windows Vista, this is a known issue, otherwise Teka Teka is correct.
  13. All laptop mfrs suck at real support, only some give the most basic support at best. For good peer to peer support, look up Notebookforums.com. They have a whole section for most mfr's.
  14. On WinXP, when you hit the F2 key and go to the external plane view, you can rotate the camera or view around the jet with your mouse. Well on a laptop where I have Vista 32bit installed, I just noticed when I go to the external view (F2 key) my mouse doesn't work, but I can use the numpad keys to move around. Anyone know a fix or workaround for this in Vista, to get the mouse to work as it does in XP for external views?
  15. Those are very nice pictures there, thanks for sharing them! The planes are made for combat and thus serve first in the field in the combat role, before ever being taken towards the end of their service life, cleaned up and alot of TLC given from ground crew so that they can be used for flight demonstration by the Blue's.
  16. Nice!
  17. I don't understand how you can have Fighter Ops in your mention above when nobody has seen an in-game screenshot yet. The only thing I have seen are rendered images of 3D models which pretty much always look fantastic. I guess we are all hoping it will look good, have great network code and be released before we all exit the flight sim world onto another hobby.
  18. Setup a bat file to run everytime you start LockOn, to go and delete the track.ini file stored within LockOn's folders. This way it works whenever you play LockOn. I basically start LockON:FC with a bat file. Clicking it does a few commands for me, like delete the trackir.ini file and replacing the graphics.cfg file for me each time to a pre-set one for my widescreen display setup, then it starts LockOn. A bunch of things happen in less than 2 seconds.
  19. My advice is don't show them to the Falcon4 crowd, they will laugh so hard at them. FYI: When it comes to the F16 and realism, nothing beats Falcon4, definately not LockOn. I fly both sims, and love LockOn but when it comes to the F16, forget LockOn.
  20. Will BS bring improvement to the network code? ie. will it run even smoother in multiplayer environments over the internet?
  21. Very simple choice. If you can afford an Intel Core2Duo cpu, then get it. I never have favored one cpu or the other as I always choose whichever is faster at processing information, regardless of namebrand. ie. My AMD 5000+ X2 cpu is no match for my core2duo cpu in everything from 3dstudio max, to cad applications to gaming. I have never seen faster fps than with the core2duo.
  22. Just to reiterate: I have an Intel P4 3.2 Ghz single core, and AMD 5000+ X2 dual core and an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.67 Ghz overclocked to 3.60 Ghz. The Core2Duo cpus are a huge improvement over all the others cpus even at the default 2.67Ghz setting. With LockOn, the first thing you will notice is a huge improvement in fps with very high graphic settings ( if you have a well put together system pairing a great motherboard, great cpu and great sli video cards). The Core2Duos is the way to go, even if you see "slower" Ghz speeds.
  23. I really enjoy EE2 myself. Great graphics and gameplay. No problems so far with it .
  24. I predict they will announce it will be out July 2008 :megalol:
