Came across this clip on youtube. Interesting band. Excellent menu screen music option. Enjoy!

I have a vague recollection from the dim, dark past that DCS are planning a Battle Of Britain era plane set for release at some point. Hopefully in this lifetime. Fingers crossed. A Hurricane would be just simply awesome.

Fuel pump should be turned on at all times during flight as per the pilots notes. It's been correct from the start, no changes. Pump should also be turned off whilst taxiing and engine warm up, unless you use it to pressurise the fuel lines instead of the wobble pump on start up.
-
I remember the manual stating it was a procedure used prior to shutting down the engine, as you said. Just made me wonder if depressing it prior to start up might make it more effective. Guess not. DCS really needs a warmed up engine option.
-
Should you depress the oil dilution button before engine start up or after? Or is either way correct to cause the oil pressure to drop?

Engine RPMs after stall turn.
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
And that explains why perfectly! Thanks grafspee. -
I've noticed when coming out of a stall turn with the throttle cut back that as the aircraft is diving out of the turn after a short time the engine RPMs suddenly go into overdrive, exceeding 3000 RPM before returning to normal operation. You have to be careful not to apply throttle until after it settles back to normal after it has had it's dummy spit. Curious as to why it does this, is it correct for the engine to behave like that in those circumstances? Only ever happens after performing a vertical stall turn. Cheers, Scream.

It would be nice to have the correct control panel. Always feels a bit weird pressing the "invisible bomb release button". Matter of priorities I guess.

Thanks Reflected. Just hope the mechanics don't get cranky about not sticking to 1200 RPM on warmup. I'll give it a try next mission. Oil dilution definitely needed for those winter start ups if pushing the RPMs. Awesome campaign, wish we had more like this one. Cheers, Scream

Following the correct engine warm up procedure makes it impossible to meet the taxi and take off times. Result is that the squadron don't circle the airfield to form up before setting course and you have to chase them across the channel before being able to join up. Not an issue if you are in the first few aircraft taking off, but if you are at the back of the queue I sometimes don't catch up until over France. Should the engine warmup be ignored in order to meet the correct timings, resulting in bad things according to the ground crew, or would it be possible to alter the timings to allow for correct engine warm up procedures? Great campaign Reflected, loving it! Nine sorties flown so far, no replays and five kills. Just hoping I can make it to the end in one piece. Cheers, Scream.

All sorted. Initially I'd just copied the stock Channel map cold start mission and moved the Player aircraft from Detling to Biggin Hill and saved as a new mission. Instead I deleted the original Player aircraft and created a new one based at Biggin Hill, selected drop tanks and saved in mission editor. Aircraft now starts the mission with drop tank loaded. Still a bit odd it didn't work the first time around.

I'm having an odd issue with selecting droptanks for the Spit in the mission editor. Simple cold start mission at Biggin Hill, drop tanks are selected and saved in the mission editor, but at the mission start there are no droptanks visible on the aircraft. Rearm and refuel request shows them correctly on the panel, and they magically appear when that command is given. Just can't get them in place at the mission start. Is there something I've missed doing to save them in the mission editor? Thanks, Scream.

Baedeker Raid Mission - Airfield Truck Bug

Lovely! Thanks Terry, never would have looked there. I'll remember File Explorer from now on, never used it before. Preparing to delete one truck. Cheers, Scream. -
DCS WW2 Remaining Backers Rewards
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
More than happy that we have what we have with the whole DCS WW2 side of things. Like you say, what has already been provided is more than reasonable. DCS were very generous in picking up on the whole kickstarter situation. Just curious if there were any official plans to release the final rewards at some time, as the ME 262 is on hold. I've got my Spit and I'm a happy little flier for eternity. -
DCS WW2 Remaining Backers Rewards
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Thought that was pretty much the situation. ME 262 on hold equals rewards on hold. The main goals have been reached plus an extra map and two aircraft not originally planned for. Thought maybe ED might be able consider that a fair point of project completion. Zen and the Art of DCS. -
Baedeker Raid Mission - Airfield Truck Bug
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in Bugs and Problems
Actually, does anyone know where the files for these missions are located? Checked the usual saved games and mods sections and no sign of them anywhere. -
DCS WW2 Remaining Backers Rewards
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Please can somebody from ED give some kind of response to this question. Are the outstanding rewards ever going to appear? Living in hope......... -
Could ED please remove the truck that sticks it's nose out into the path of the AI aircraft as they taxi to the runway. Currently at least two to three of the flight erupt in a huge fireball as they near the shed on the right just before the runway. Makes for a lonely sortie against a full raid of bombers and escorts. Thanks.

Trains seemingly invulnerable
Screamadelica replied to Colonel Akir Nakesh's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi Paladin. At this stage trains are functioning as normal. Rails and tunnels are unable to be damaged or destroyed....just the trains and rolling stock. -
Vertical Rolls In The Spitfire
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Problem solved. DD Fenrir was on the right track. Giving the rudder a good push to the right as you give it full left aileron and then easing off as the roll progresses stops the left wing dropping. Spitfire now resembles a slightly wobbly spinning top. Fun times. Keeping her perfectly straight up as she rolls is a bit of a challenge. Time for some more Christmas carnage...... -
Note To RAF Squadron Command: It has come to my attention that my nice new Spitfire that was recently lent out to another squadron has been returned in rather a worn and sorry looking state. Please attend to the culprits in an appropriate manner. With thanks, Flying Officer Scream. P.S. I actually quite like it. Well done ED.

Vertical Rolls In The Spitfire
Screamadelica replied to Screamadelica's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Thanks DD. I understand the basics of gyroscopic procession, had a feeling that it might possibly be involved in some way. I guess my question really is what is the correct sequence of control inputs for performing a vertical roll in the Spit without dropping the left wing at the start? All the references I've been able to find, British Aerobatics Academy and similar, simply say keep her straight up and then apply full left or right aileron. I always use a little forward stick to keep the nose straight in the vertical as well as a small amount of right rudder to keep the wings level. Maybe it just needs a good kick of right rudder at the same time as you give it left aileron input? I'll try and record a track on the weekend and post the results of my embarrassing attempts at piloting if I can. Scream. -
I've been trying my hand at vertical rolls in the Spitfire, not quite as easy as first thought. I take it to the vertical with plenty of speed but as soon as left aileron is applied the left wing drops requiring a hefty push forward on the stick to try and keep the nose pointed straight up.. Bit of a wrestle and wobble at first but then it evens out nicely. Best attempt so far has been two and a half complete rolls and then out over the top and down. Just wondering if there is anyway to avoid the left wing drop at the start to keep the roll nice and even? Cheers, Scream.

Always been something a bit strange with the kollsman window readings and altimeter value. Used to think I was setting it incorrectly but soon realised the settings were not matching up as they should. Guess it's on the list of things to do, but not urgent. When in doubt a large, violent crashing sound will tell you when you've reached QFE.
