  1. Great... Left the house @ 0630, it's now 2315 and still working. Damn PET Scanners. How come I don't see ATI in the recommended specs. I just dropped $700 on two 6970's. If ED wanted Green, they could have speced that. My apologies if it is a mistake and ATI was left out of the specs, although I see Wags is Green....should be a hint. Oh well, work for another couple hours loading software and download A-10 tomorrow, servers should lighten up a bit by then.
  2. FYI, Don't get the widescreen 7" monitors if you want to use the Thrustmaster MFD's. You will run out of monitor in the vertical. Get an 8" 4:3 monitor. I use these USB from Lilliput. I have two UM-80/C and one UM-80/C/T (Touchscreen) and all three work great. I use the two UM-80/c for the MFD's and the touchscreen for Airfield maps through TouchBuddy. http://www.lilliputweb.net/index.php?Controller=User_Product&action=Index&category_id=51

  4. I think you should have gotten the 8" 4x3 monitors. I believe the 7" widescreen format will not cover the height of the Cougar MFDs.
  5. I'm using the Lilliput UM-80 USB monitors, 2 for the MFCD's. These are 800x600, and you can use velcro tape to place the MFCD's over the monitor. I'm not at my PC, but I believe I have to use CAT 10.8 for the USB monitors to work correctly, otherwise ATI CC crashes. I built an assy from 1/4" birch plywood with cutouts for the MFCD's that hides the monitors, Dremel works great for that. I put up pics later, not finished yet.
  6. Not sure about this. I have Two 4870X2 (Quadfire) and running CAT 8.11, Vista 64 and both X2's are working in BS. I can verify this by framerates and heat (temps) coming out of both X2's. I originally had just one 4870X2 installed and recorded framerates on some tracks and compared to Quadfire. When I loaded CAT 9.1, I had to disable Cat AI to get BS to start which idled the second X2, again verified by framerate and temps. Now, I'm not sure if only one GPU on each X2 is running under 8.11 or if all 4 GPU's are running. But right now CAT 8.11 are working for me, and I think I'll just stay with them for awile. ATI seems kinda clueless right now with their drivers, at least when it comes to Vista, two 4870X2's and always clueless when it comes to simulators.
  7. I tried CAT 8.12 but after install and reboot got BSOD and had to reinstall my OS. I have Vista 64U. I don't think the hotfix did anything for 4870X2 users, but no I did not try it. I simply do not trust it and do not want to reload my OS again. ATI/AMD better get the F***ing $hit together with their drivers or my next Video Card purchase will be Nvidia! It's obivious that ATI could care less about Flight Sims (Unless its Microsoft crap), they only worry about FPS.
  8. I can confirm that ATI cannot code drivers for $hit. Disabling Cat AI will allow BS to run but no Crossfire. I have two 4870 X2 and the second one is idle. Back to Cat 8.11
  9. Download it and then burn the files onto a DVD. Now you have the downloaded version which you NEVER have to put a DVD into the drive and it is on a DVD. I never understand this thinking, Downloaded games are the way to go, beats constantly putting DVD's into drives. Must be you need the printed DVD with whatever graphics DCS puts on the DVD, only difference. And in the case of BS, if you download it I would guess most of the proceeds goes to ED instead of some % going to a retailer. I bought two copies of the downloaded version to support ED and my habit because I do believe this software is easily worth $100.00.
  10. Hey Cyclic...Half the fun of owning a cougar is learning what you can do with it programming wise. That would of course require to RTFM :smartass: But for a profile check out cougars world, see here. http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/files.php They have a butt load of profiles, and you can pick up a trick or two and edit the profile to your own needs. The forums there are great for programming tips too. If you just want to map a rotary on the throttle to the rudder, you can do that easily in game (Quickest method). I think most guys that own a cougar also have pedals, so I would think very few would have this programmed. If I get some free time today, I pull out the manual and send you the code for the rudder on a rotary.
  11. I have the FSSB R2 and would not use anything else, although I have other cougars in stock and Uber-2 configuration. As DCS will be adding fixed wing AC in the future, I would get the FSSB...you will not be sorry! I have no problem using it for BS, not realistic as the stick does not move but you'll get over that quickly enough.
  12. Seems to be related to DIRECTX, I reloaded DIRECTX and problem is fixed.
  13. I just reinsattled BS after reloading Vista 64 and I get an error on startup about edterrain.dll missing. It is in the folder, only thing I can think of is something about my windows install, updates, or drivers that I put on or in the incorrect order. I did install ATI hydavision this time, I'll haver to uninstall that and test. I had no problems before with Vista 64
  14. I also own a Cougar (5 to be exact)...too much money ;) Two FSSB-R2's, One Uber 2, and Two stock. If they ever stop making these I'm set. The FSSB-R2 from Realsimulator is fantastic, although it costs more than the cougar itself it is worth every penny. It is the most precise flying stick you can get....PERIOD. It is the one I use almost 100% Never had a X52, but I guess if cost is a factor, why not. I don't believe it is built very durable, that's my opinion from looking at them at Best Buy. Also the Cougar has a crap load of hat switches and the programming can be very simple or extremely complex, so you can do much more with the cougar than the X52 control/programming wise. You can program so much to the stick and throttle that it can take a while to memorize it all.
  15. Ok, so I have some service manual PDF's for work I wanted printed up and spiral bound. I'll just take the PDF's for the 3 BS manuals down to Fedex Kinko's and get them done in Color too. I stop by the next day, how much? $700+ the lady says. I can't remember the exact figure as I had a massive heart attack. After CPR (Kidding)I said "Your joking, right?" "No, and that's with the discount" Now my three work service manuals measure almost 2" thick for all three. The three BS manuals measure about 1.5" thick. I said for that, you can keep em. The store manager came and I said I was not told it was 59 cents per color copy, so she works up a deal for about $135 for my work stuff (expensed, so I did not care) and about $125 for the BS stuff (looking back I would have skipped the quick start manual). But my plan was to hide the BS books in my expense report for my work manuals, but I did not :( Expensive...VERY, but also it is so nice having a full color manual on good paper in a spiral bound book. Bottom line....I would not expect the printed version from ED to be cheap, this thing is over 300 pages and it is really expensive at Kinko's, so wait for the ED version.
  16. $49.00 Big Deal, if you can't afford it stop smoking or drinking for 2 weeks! This is ENTERTAINMENT software. It provides entertainment, and all entertainment cost money. Golf, Sports events, hitting the bars all cost money. This $49.00 is a steal for the entertainment value it provides, that is how you must look at the price...the value! Just think how many hours this $49.00 gets you, unbelievable  I'm glad ED did not price it at $39.00 I think even $59.00 would have been reasonable. I only hope this will provide them with the cash flow to keep producing these great sims. Remember, ED is the only company providing us with the entertainment we NEED! At least until Storm of War comes out. :pilotfly:
  17. By the way Deadman, it's a lot of work making a template huh. I can't remember how many hours I put into that old one I made, so I know first hand how much personal time you are giving up for everyone's benifit.
  18. Thicker Main Tusk Hi Deadman, I made some A-10 templates a year or so ago, and you have done excellent work. Maybe this is my personal perference, but I think the main tusk on the Hawg should be a bit thicker at the base. It seems a little to thin. Just a thought....
  19. You made the right choice....the Cougar. Now I know it's big $$$ but check out RealSimulator @ http://realsimulator.com/html/fssb.html I have this R2 mod and the Uber-2. Never use the U-2, the force sensor stick is so damn responsive and easy to fly. Conbine that with hall effect for the throttle and you're set.
  20. I need 2560 x 1600, but I guess I can resize it myself with PSP. Yes, Lock On is amazing at 2560 x 1600 on a 30" LCD!
  21. Zorlac, It seems the rotating heading indicator on the TEWS scope is rotating in the wrong direction as you turn and the heading display in lower right is wrong. Should be easy to fix for you :smilewink:
  22. Yes I changed the directory for the lomac_data_file = f:\Lock On\touchbuddy-export.dat and copied the dat file over to LOMAC. I see there is a LUA folder with TB and a touchbuddy-export LUA file. I tried moving to folder and file to LOMAC, but that did not help. I'll have to wait for Zorlac to post some notes.
  23. Quick question: I don't have the default LOMAC install directory and the TEWS display in touchbuddy is not working. Are there any files I need to move over to LOMAC? Thanks BTW great product Zolac....and if we have a TEWS failure is the FI (Fault Indicator) in the lower left going to click over to white?
  24. My problem with the new version is I have no landscape, just flat grey terrain. Previous version this was not an issue. Actually, zooming in it looks like I just have water terrain with no land, it looks like a blue-grey water texture. My screwup, though I'd cheat on this version and just moved the .exe over to my desktop.
  25. Valery Excellent job on the A-10 skin, really unique skin using my A-10 Template. It really blends in with the surroundings. If you don't mind me asking what tool (brush) did you use to create the digital camoflage? I use Paint shop Pro and cannot find anything for that texture type. Is is from Photoshop or an plug-in? Thanks
